USCIS are incompetent. I reported calls from this number to them, to the FCC and to the FBI, but they keep coming. I can't believe that they can't talk to the NSA, trace the calls, and bluntly tell the Indians that they need to act against these scammers. Yes, the calls are from India. I am of Indian descent, and I recognize the accents. Must be a bunch of laid off call center jokers out to try to scam people living here.

I got 4 calls within 4 hours from 800-375-5283
The caller spoke with an Indian accent. I did not give any details. Us government agencies, to my knowledge, do not call. They usually send a letter. Best thing is to install a caller id device and when this number appears on the caller id do not answer the call.

Got a call from this number 18003755283 and it display immigration/ naturalization. Guy was looking for my wife saying he is from the state department that he had a $9500 grant for my wife, but that first I had to provide him details. He had a heavy Indian accent, and I told him to mail or e-mail because I did not feel comfortable providing details over the phone. He kept insisting that they had already e-mail ed but we're calling because of no reply. I told him I was gonna hang up and he said don't because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so then I asked "since when is the state department located in India? Shove it loser"!

Somebody call from this number. and scammed some money out of me saying the same lies about alien number. It was fraudster. The Caller ID says this number and federal agency or USCIS but the call is not from USCIS. They know how to fake caller id somehow. Pls don't fall for this scam that looks like has been going on for over a year by reading all the messages here. No real goverment agency calls on the phone and demands money to be paid by cash via green pak or western union. Why has FBI not put these people in jail yet.

They want to pretend from USCIS  and want to get all personal information. Then they want money.
This number is spoofed, but this number is listed as USCIS.

I got a call on Jan 17th and shocked after viewed below details in the naukri. It is exactly getting matched as per viewer comment from this blog (http://h1bwiki.com/uscis-911-scam-phone-calls/).
Similar things are happened to my friend husband. He modified the country details in the Job portal. He got a call within a few days. It looks they are getting all the USA job profiles details in the job portal. They are using different consultancy name to view the profile details. But, Location looks same New Delhi and Noida.

My friend got this call last week, so yesterday I setup a fake Naukri account with fake name and fake details; guess what - i got a call today (from legit USCIS number) calling me by that fake name and going through all that "alien number" crap; i kelp talking to him while I asked my colleagues to call the Police, to see if they can trace the call or something - Police said they wouldn't do that, but the lesson to be learnt here:

Received Scam Phone call number: 800-375-5283
Other Scam Phone call number: 5672522020/ 2026979674/911.
On Friday 17th 2014, I received a call from a person. He introduced himself as Kevin Marsh with Indian accent and said that he represents USCIS and said that number displayed on phone is USCIS number and asked me to check by googling that number to   confirm. (Later, he threatened me to disconnect the entire device. Everything is monitored by them)
He started by mentioning that I missed out on filling Alien registration number in India for the first time I traveled and US high commission in India is penalizing for this. He said that I have to leave US within 25 days. Between these 25 days, I will be in the Jail and deported back to India . For next 20 years I won?t be allowed to enter US because of bad immigration status and trying to hidn my Identity.
I asked him to contact employer to discuss about this issue.
Kevin Marsh said that the Case is filed on my name and not on employer. He also threatened me not to ask more questions. He mentioned that the allocated time to close the ticket is 3 hrs. He did not  allow me to reach the employer nor others.
I requested for proof that he is someone from USCIS and he had all my information like I-94, SSN number, Passport number, US  residence details, USA entry date and India Residence address.
I said, I want to reach to my colleague/Husband to help me on this. He did not allow me to talk to anybody. (These kind of frauds will keep you in phone until the time you send the money)
Finally he said don?t panic, We will help you with not leaving country by paying fine here in US of $6300.You will get back deposit money 6000$ and 300$ is fine for you.
He asked me to send that money using green dot Gift cards and Fee waiver letter for submitting to Police officer. I could recharge 500$ at a time in one shop. He made me recharge for 3000$ by visiting 6 shops from Meriden to new haven by cab.
He was continuously on the call for 7 hrs until the time I sent the money.
Finally he said ?it?s almost late today, So the officers won?t coming your home? .He asked me to read the Scratch card numbers to generate an Alien registration number and close the tickets. I read the numbers to them over the phone with the code and lost my hard earned money 3000$.
Later, I came to know through my colleague. I am cheated by this blood sucking fraud people. Later,I filed a Case.

I got the call at early morning today at 7:30, from 911, posing to be a state police officer and saying that I have failed to update my alien number on my I-94 when I came US very first time. he then threatened me to push in the state prison for 15 days and then deport me back to India...he was so rude and strict in his voice, he then transferred my call to the  800-375-5283 USCIS agent, some Brian Tyler and these two guys kept me engaged for 3 hours between the dire consequences and reuslts. I was soo badly scared, beacuse if they were trueI didnt wanted to go state prison and this guys told me to go to Chase bank and withdraw money and then transfer it to them via GREEN.MONEY pack cards and asked me to pay $8400 as a security deposit. I did paid $1400 right before my husband contacted real police department in my city and told me that it is scam. I am not bothered about the money I lost but the hellish time I had imagining myself in the prison just killed me.

Beware guys, never show these goons that you give a shi* about what they scare you. be brave and always trust your police department and the legitimate resources.

Political Call
I received a call from 911 this morning around 11A.M from Sg. Steve Marsh and he asked my home address and they have to get me and have to deport me. Then he transferred the call to Immigration department. The person told his name is Allen Lake. He wanted me to update my Alien number, DS-230 and AR-11. When I asked him to give me his number to call back once I talk to my Lawyer. Then he said he can resolve this but I need to decide right now over the phone. He also said that I can not come back if I don't pay the penalties. He had some random information about me. Friends ..... Please do not fall for this kind of threat. USCIS don't call you like this. They send you a notice. Simply hang up the phone or try to ask his number to call back. Report that number to 911 if you want to. Be safe guys. These people do not sound like American. I am sure they are Indians.

Hi-  I got the similar call from 800-375-5283 from a guy called Steve Marsh. He told me all his same old story and later on transferred the call to a guy called John Spencer. Both useless and rude guys and after 1 hour of wasting my time, they asked me about the money. I told them not sure if I have it. This is when they disconnected the call. I already contacted my attorney who verified that every thing is ok with my records. I am very certain that they hacked naukri.com account because they told me some incorrect information which is only available over there.
These people are shame to the community and I hope that that they will be behind bars one day.

Prank Call
I got a call from the same number (800 -375-5283 ) today - sep 2-, 2013.

I was driving to work when he called - said he was from USCIS and there was a legal complaint against me from the Indian High Comission since I did not write down my Alien number on the bottom half of the 1-94 card that we hand over to the officer at port of entry. He gave me a good spiel about how they want to make sure they have all the information to make sure where I am, what I am doing since I am not a US citizen.
I asked for his name - gave it as Alex Cooper.
I called back the number just to make sure it is not fake - I was shocked to hear a legitimate robot voice saying I had called USCIS - press 1 for english and 2 for spanish.

A couple of things threw me a red flag so I didn't respond with personal information -
1. He asked me where my documents where - I said they were at home - he asked me how far away from home are you ? ( I have never had officials ask me those kind of questions ) he went on "okay how far away are you from work ? " get to the point - what do you want me to do next ?
2. He asked me if I have access to internet right now ?  I said no - (by now I needed more time to make sure I have more time to check out this number ). He asked me when I can I have access to internet - I said in one hour's time - I 'll be at work. He said okay I'll call you back in an hour.

I googled his number and found this thread - its a sigh of relief. I didn't pick up his call again.

I need to know how to check with uscis that everything is okay on my file.

DO NOT PROVIDE DOB, passport number, address on job portals. I realized that I created a profile on Naukari.com an indian website for job hunting and next day I got this call.

The same crap story I was driving he told me in fake accent I caught that its a desi guy telling me to pull my car from highway and talk to him. I realized that nobody from USIC will ask to pull down car then i got call after coming back home and realized that this guy is fake.

I went to naukari.com and realized there are few fake employers who are stealing our personal details.

I received a call from a number (1911). The person who called knew my name and also the company where i work. First he told me that he was calling from State of Authority and asked me to check the number being displayed. I said its 1911. Then he asked me if I knew the importance of this number. I said yes this is an emergency contact number for US. He then asked me where I was currently. I said I am in my office. Then he told me that there was some problem with my immigration documents because of which a legal notice has been issued under my name. I started to panic since this was my first encounter. He said that don?t panic we will help you out. He asked me to step out of the office without telling anyone as I would be fired from my job if my employers came to know about this legal notice. I was literally scared and disconnected the call. Then I spoke to my team before going out and they figured it out as a fake call. In the meantime that person kept calling me and I disconnected it again and again. Then again that person called me from another number (18003755283) and one of my colleagues picked up the call. He narrated the same incident to my colleague. Then my colleague asked him to email the legal notice and on listening this that person simply disconnected the call and never called back again.

I should have added yesterday that if you already have a SSN, you should contact at least one of the credit agencies - you can do it online - Experian, Equifax, TransUnion - and ask them to put fraud alerts on your files also.

Thank you Elspeth,
I did that already and asked them to block my card. So just in case if they have my other details too, they wont be able to use my money.
What I am worried with the whole incident is "Identity Theft ".

Called up 911 as its federal crime to claim to be a govt official when you are not.
Thus an office just dropped down and took the details and asked me to file a complaint with ":Attorney General office" and /or Immigration Office on Monday morning

This whole thing has shaken me and made me worried about -
1. How did they have all my passport details.?
2. US and Home country address?

Thank you in advance guys for all your help,

I would call USCIS and tell them what happened.  They will be able to give you advice on what to do.  You may also want to call your bank and tell them to put fraud alerts on all your accounts.
