This number was either spoofed or transferred to scammers-- I received an automated voicemail to call some other number to get $100 from AT&T, with no reference to debt collection or any bank.

This number is legit it is scotia bank calling because you have defaulted on a payment of your loan, they don't want it to go any further so they call you from this number, to make sure you can make arrangements to pay it. That is all it is, I have had a hard time keeping up because I was a victim of identity theft they were very nice and polite when I had to make arrangements in my hard time.. They just wanna get paid, just like other banks and are calling to inquire about money you have rightfully signed they could take out of ur account..

Just remember you do have to pay your debts, they just want to be aware when the payment is going to be made so you do not go into collections with their higher collection agency

How about when your payments are all up-to-date and Scotiabank refuses to reply to your calls? What happens when you go into your branch with all your receipts, and theyySTILL refuse to deal with you, or fix your credit when they even admit it was their mistake? Worst bank to EVER deal with. Anybody associated with this 'SERVICE" should hang their heads in shame. As soon as they manage to get said heads dislodged from between their a** cheeks.

Actually, if you are upfront and honest with them they are understanding and will allow you to make arrangements, I have had absolutely no problem with them after falling in hard times, I have a few friends that actually work for scotia and do you know its harder and more of a pain to foreclose rather than work things out? I was behind for over a year and kept in close contact with them and continually made arrangements, If I was unable to keep them I would call, probably then best collections center I have ever had to deal with!

What are you talking about, you have a job and most of us don't? Some job you have. How about I tell you I make over 3 times as much as you because I know your position. You don't know why people haven't paid their bills, they could have had someone die or other catastrophic events in their lives! Fine example of those who call and harass others at 11pm even when they're told the person does not live at that address! You harass the elderly good job!!!

Scotia Bank Collections, as previously stated they will call numbers from Canada411, if they have no number listed for the person they are seeking. I have no dealings with Scotia Bank and merely provided them with my DOB and postal code and they agreed they did not have the right person.

I find any time there is activity on a credit card these calls increase. I love caller i.e. I also enter the number into Google to see who is calling. Plus i am deaf so i don't use the phone and go to the bank for banking purposes.  Hubby uses phone so if the person asks for me, we know it is usually a scam, plus our names are unusual and hard to pronounce which is also another clue.

You sent a collection letter to "Arron Cook" at #9-711 Beaconhill Drive, Fort McMurray AB.  I own that property.  He rented a room months ago.  I have not seen him for about 6 months.  Sending mail to that address is a waste of your time and mine.  Bob  (780) 479-1199
If you want to ask about me call Judy Fex at the Scotia Bank 118 ave & 82 Street, Edmonton. She handles the mortgage for me.

There is no way your work for Scotiabank. I do work for Scotia, in National Collections, and the final line on your comment is not something that would be tolerated by Scotiabank. If you do work for Scotiabank, and we find out who you are, you may find your last comment to be completely untrue.

Got an automated voice call from 800-375-0888 and have no doubt it's a "legit" number. The only problem is, I've never had an account with Scotia Bank. They're not exactly the swiftest there. Told them to put whatever they have in writing and if they've purchased a debt that I've somehow missed, then fine, but as it stands I have $0 in open debts on my credit so really puzzled. I'd also like to think that these customer service reps would at least comprehend people's reluctance to divulge SSN#'s to operations they cannot verify who they are.

IMPORTANT f you have a Scotiabank bank account AND you owe the bank money, close the account. Scotiabank will go into your account and STEAL your money. They claim your VISA gives them the power to do this. They call it the right of offset.

For the a**hole working for Scotiabank - Canadian Banks received $75 Billion bailout - that was paid from taxpayer money. The rest of us didn't. Yes, many of us have lost our jobs. The middle class in North America is being hollowed out and our jobs are being shipped to China and India. Multinational conglomerates are getting tax breaks - some are paying ZERO in corporate income tax -while they ship jobs offshore. Banks in Canada have been protected from any real competition due to minimum reserve laws limiting the opportunity of foreign banks to operate within Canada. Banks actively lobbied for these laws and they have lobbied each time there has been any discussion of lower the minimum reserve amount. In political science and economic terms what the banks have is a rent seeking arrangement. This is an arrangement that limits competition, and allows Canadian banks to form a cartel essentially. All of the banks offer near identical products and services with near identical fees. The banks have managed to retain this arrangement by lobbying government through The Banking Institute.

Canada sucks at innovation and business creation. One of the reasons is that Canadian banks are horrible at loaning entrepreneurs start up capital. Canadian banks are dishonest, corrupt thieves. After profiting for your business for decades.  They will go into your account steal your money. They don't care if that money is food, or rent, or for medicine for your baby.

For the Scotiabank employee - enjoy your job while it lasts. What you are is unskilled labour. Chances are you don't have university degree - so when you lose your job, you will be in a worse position than us. Your job will be shipped to China - and then you will have to deal with the collection calls. If your lucky you will get a job at Walmart or McDonalds earning a fraction of your current pay. Enjoy your job while it lasts.

I have been called numerous times weekends and late night.
Yes, it would be nice to pay my bill on time as I have done for the past 12 years to Scotia, once you lose your job thru no fault of your own and the next thing you know you are struggling to pay for heat and food for the table then HELLO! It is a dilemma and frustrating as hell that these calls come in and they are usually rude (in my experience) and not understanding so what do you do? Do you have answers? I have nothing else much to sell, my house has devalued this is the reality of living these days and I am very sorry that I can't for the FIRST time in my life pay my bills!!!!!

Most of us are one paycheck away from the foodbank. If the bank will not settle or give you a hard time that you are actually offering to settle, then this is greed on the bank's behalf or a mess up in the admin area of Scotia.

Please consider all reasons before you judge the folks that can no longer pay. We lost our jobs.

I just wanted to comment on the last part of your message where you said "I have a job, and most of you do not.". I think that's a really unfair thing to say because you dont know what's going on in people's lives. People make mistakes and forget to make payments on time sometimes, it happens. Life gets in the way. I'm currently in university becoming a doctor and I have a job. My dads been in the hospital and sometimes priorities take over. You think you have so much power over people but if this is your mind set then really, I feel sorry for you. Don't make assumptions about people sometimes it's just a payment that's a little late. You don't know what's happening in their lives and you don't need to be rude.

Perhaps something that is being missed here is the ease with which caller I.D.s can be Spoofed by way of an cheap bit of software , and a VIOP set up... The fact that the phone numbers appear to match the legitimate Scotia Collections number proves nothing...
