Got a call today from Steve Cohen.  Said he was looking for a CPA firm for about 4 clients in my area.  Described a "professional service company with four employees and gross sales of just under one million".  Sounds like a good fit for me, but after reading this blog, I won't bother to return his call.  Caller id from 516-561-4203, left call back number as 1-800-378-4003 x 22.  I've worked with sales guys before but only in person.

I googled this guy while on the phone with him the first time.  He gave me his number.  Google came back with this website and I said "Hi Mr. Steve Cohen Ext 22"  

He was surprised and hung up on me. ha ha

Got the same call from Steve Cohen.  His call back number was the same (800) 378-4003 ext 22. What a scam!!!

I too got a call today from a Steve Cohen wanting to talk to our firm about doing commercial accounting work in our area.  He left a message on my voicemail.  He was so vague & with a 1-800#, it didn't sit right with me.  His # was 1-800-378-4003; ext #22.  I google everything nowadays. Thanks for websites like this to communicate such scams.

Got a call from a Jay Gibbs giving this number.  Had a client in an adjoining community that he wanted to refer to our CPA firm.  I've talked with guys like this in the past...they want a few grand up front and something a month to provide "leads".  I've always passed...

Just received a call from Joe Miller claiming he needs my assistance for a couple of small business clients he has.  I returned the call and left a message for him to call me back.

After leaving the message, I was curious as to who this person was, and how he got my name and number.  So I googled the phone number and happened upon this wonderful blog.

Had one Joe Miller call at extension 25, claiming to be from a company called "New Business Clients," and that he had several clients in the area; he tried to find out information about my company.  Watch out for the scammers.

"Need accountant for local electronics contractor". Introduced himself as Bill Arundel at extension 26. My radar went way up when I heard other phones ringing in the background. Called the # and heard two beeps before I hung up. Probably not the smartest move on my part, but I needed to check. Call came in under # 516-561-4177 on caller ID

Claims to need accountant for local co. but they represent co. all over and will not give any information regarding type of co. what they need, etc unless you agree to make an appt.  

This is just one of several callers we have received like this.  They are very rude and short on the phone.
