Got a call from this number with a person saying he was from UPS. Said he had a package for me weighing 7.2 pounds. He wouln't tell me what it was- I was not expecting any package. He said no one else could sign for the package but me. He then asked me for an "occupational password"- whatever that is!- in order to deliver it.
I called UPS and there was no record of a delivery for my house and also it is not thier policy to ask for passwords and usually anyone at the address can sign for a package. This incident really bothers me!

I received a similar phone call two days ago from a lady claiming to be from UPS.  She said she had a signature required parcel from my school and they could only leave it at my stop step if i answer the security question which was my birthday.  I thought the call was real because they knew my number, name and school.  Well, i guess since i confirmed this information with them i should start to expect lots of junk in the mail and my name to be used in some kind fraud.
The number is 800-381-0323... I became skeptical when i got home and didn't see a package waiting for me and when i tried to call them i received "The user voice mail is full"

so please be alert of that 800 number and anyone claiming to be from UPS

My mom received similar call yesterday from a guy claiming to be from UPS. He said that my mom has a parcel from Navy Federal. The guy was asking if there was someone at home to receive package cause its signature required. My Mom said yes but there was no one who came to deliver anything.

My Mom became skeptical so she contacted the local police and ups. I visited FTC.GOV to add my mom's number in the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.

Same thing happened to me this morning. I got a call on my cell phone saying I had a package and they have not been able to catch me. The lady said my address and I told her I had moved and gave her my new address. I then proceeded to tell her I was at work and she asked for that address and of course I gave it to her! I had not answered the 800 number call but 5min. later I got a call from 636-394-9441. That is the number that I talked to the supposed UPS lady. I called the number back and A different lady answered and I got the UPS number and she new nothing about a call she said she was the only one working. Anyway to make a long story short I know my UPS MAN PERSONALLY AS I TOLD THE LADY ON THE PHONE, I checked with UPS and they had no knowledge of this. Icontacted the local police and I hope whoever this is will be real careful, they will get caught soon.

This Is Eduardo calling from UPS we have a package we are tried to deliver to you yesterday. "Hmmm well I was out yesterday.  Why didn't he just leave it at the office?"  I asked who is this package from? "Lifestyle in Las Vegas" It weighs 6lbs. Blah blah blah.  Called the number back but just get is "That mailbox is full and can not except any knew messages"  This number is super suspicious.  DO NOT GIVE YOUR WORK ADDRESS to whoever it is that is calling you.  They try to press you for information.

Court Halts Job Placement Scam at FTC's Request
'Guaranteed' Jobs Never Materialized

A U.S. district court has halted a phony job placement operation that allegedly stole money from job seekers by promising them full-time work, with benefits, that never materialized, the Federal Trade Commission announced today.

The court shut down the job placement operation until a hearing on a preliminary injunction can be held, and froze its assets. According to a complaint filed by the FTC, the scam took out ads in local newspapers around the United States. The ads urged job seekers to call an 800 number, where they got a pitch from telemarketers urging them to provide information about their work histories and to pay a placement fee that ranged from $89 to $195.

The FTC complaint charges that the defendants misled consumers by guaranteeing that they would land jobs making at least $25,000 a year if they paid the placement fee and provided the work history information. Consumers who did this did not get the promised jobs, however. Their repeated efforts to follow up with the defendants or ask for a refund were fruitless.

The Florida-based defendants charged in the case are Career Hotline, Inc., and its principal, Susan Bright, who also does business as Unique Flowers.

The Commission vote authorizing the complaint against the defendants was 4-0. The complaint was filed with the request for a temporary restraining order and entered by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Tampa Division on August 4, 2009. The court unsealed the complaint and temporary restraining order on August 10, 2009.

The FTC appreciates the assistance of the Pinellas County Office of Justice and Consumer Services, the Pinellas County Sheriff?s Office, and the Office of the Attorney General of Ohio.

NOTE: The Commission authorizes the filing of a complaint when it has ?reason to believe? that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. A complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendants have actually violated the law.

The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to help spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint in English or Spanish, visit the FTC?s online Complaint Assistant or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357). The FTC enters complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to more than 1,500 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. The FTC?s Web site provides free information on a variety of consumer topics.

Got a call from this number from George at United Job Placement. Said he had a referral for me and asked if I was still looking for work. I was, and we had a short interview on the phone. He asked what kind of work I was looking for, how far I'd be willing to travel, etc. The only question he asked that I would consider personal was my date of birth, but that's really not a big deal. He said it was just to update my file.....makes sense. I decided to google United Job Placement because I also thought it was fishy, now I'm sure it was a good idea based on all I've read. Not sure what they can do with my date of birth and address, though. That's all pretty much public information. I don't see why scam artists would need to call people just to get what they can from other means. It's certainly not illegal, just fishy. I don't have any debts at all, so if they're collectors, they've got the wrong guy. They already knew my name, address and phone number though.

It's certainly some kind of scam. I've read reports of this exact kind of scam on other consumer protection websites. The method is always the same...they claim to be UPS but don't have the right address to deliver a package. Then they ask for all kinds of personal information.  My guess is, they're ultimately phishing for credit card or bank account numbers, or it's a shady debt collector.  Either way, I suggest you file a complaint with your local police and your state's attorney general. (The contact info for each state's attorney general is at www.naag.org )

Good luck.

Called again today. Said I had been referred for employment, they are an employment placement agency. Mentioned Union benefits, etc. I asked how he got my info, he said it wasnt noted, but typically comes from previous employers. Asked if I was working, said yes, asked if I wanted him to keep my file open for 6 months, I said no. He said he'd close my file. Then wanted to confirm who I am, asked for my DOB, I said I dont want to give out that kind of info and he said okay, thanks. That was the end of the call.

Didnt sound too fishy to me, he wasnt pushy. But, the company has no website? That seems fishy!

called to deliver a package from Macy's in New York, was supposed to be a call from UPS. The address was for another person not even living in the same county as I do, said package would be delivered between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. I never ordered anything from New York the caller also asked many personal questions that I would not give any answers to, I sure hope that someone soon finds out who is doing this calling.

did anybody have a resume up on monster.com in the past 12 months? Monster.com was hacked back in August of 07. 1.6 million resumes were jacked along with other personal information. Here are some things to note,

1 - The phone number they called was my old address that I no longer live at

think back, did you live at a different address and have it on your resume? Based on the information I have it seems that they are trying to post as legit companies to get personal information to you. I too had somebody call asking if they could send me something etc. Please let me know if you had or have a resume on Monster.com and if so does it seem like the source of the a***oles information.

I googled the number and came up with United Job Placement on whocalled.us. The person who reported this number states some woman named Erica asked  some rather odd and personal questions.

I wouldn't feel good about this situation, either.

I got a phone call from this number, the caller insisted that she wanted to see my wife to deliver her a package in person, she had her full name & the address of where we live, I said we are not expecting anything from anyone. My wife asked her, who are you? she said, from "Lifestyle" & we have a 3.7lb package for delivery, we just want to know at what time you can be home to sign off on the delivery. My wife said I am busy, & work during the day, she insisted "we can deliver this tomorrow at your place of work".         Anyway, we don't feel good about this situation.
