It's sounding like NRS is the junk debt buyer of old "debts" from AT&T and TXU, among other utility companies.  It would also seem if you've ever had a past due balance or even paid the thing off but the pymt didn't get processed properly by the util. company, they'll just sell off the account to the bottom-feeders like NRS. We get at least 2 calls a day from them from an account we cancelled with ATT from June 2010. First off, we're doing a bankruptcy b/c of my husband's job loss so they shouldn't even be calling us anymore. Furthermore, the amount they say is owed is double what we would have owed anyway to ATT, who are themselves unscupulous. Our phone was turned off in early June 2010 for non-payment, so find. We only owed up to that point b/c service was disconnected. That would have been about $200. Fair enough. Yet, they cont'd to charge us for this account even when there was no longer service. To make matters worse, they send the old account off to these guys who are doubling the amount owed. Well, the Chap 7 will get fix their wagon. I"m finished with these people. They're the least of my problems.

Got a call from Renee Baker at x2432 saying that I owed $52.87 which I had to pay before 8pm or they were going to report me to the credit bureau.  Supposedly I had been sent many letters from TXU (Texas Utilities) and also letters from them at Nationwide Recovery Systems.  I never received any letters and know that I was paid in full at TXU.  I spent about 5 hours talking to people at TXU and getting cut off 4 times!  They claim that they don't show that I owe them any money although one guy at TXU said that he showed that they had written off that same amount ($52.87) which is not true to the best of my knowledge, (but this led me to believe that it was more than just a phishing scam).  Just then we got cut off.  When I called back again, they said that they couldn't find it and that I owed them nothing.  I asked them to call National Recovery Systems and clear it up and they said that they would, on a priority basis within 24 hours.

I get these same phone calls but the number is 866-797-6803 and it's Frank at ext. 2435 or Kevin at ext. 2467...same deal, they have to speak to me immediately about some correspondence they sent to me.  Yeah, right!  Try calling back the number....you get nuthin'!  The message they leave on my machine is replete with very loud background noise of other callers leaving the same message for the unsuspecting person they're calling!  I don't know what the scam is, but I hope there's a way to stop it!

THIS IS A PHISHING SCAM!!!  Hang up on them and don't give them any information.

They sent my elderly mother a letter telling her that she owed a almost $100 to AT&T Wireless for over a year (which she doesn't) and then someone named Nicole Davis called her a few days later asking her if she was going to pay this bill.  My mother was confused because she previously had an account with Cingular but had cancelled the service in good standing a year earlier.  This Nicole Davis was very rude and bullied my mother into giving her bank account information because she said this bill had to be paid.

Luckily my mother mentioned it to me that same day and we gave Nicole Davis a call together to get to the bottom of this.  When you call that 800 number an automated system answers and doesn't provide the companies name that you are calling. It simply says, "You have reached the administrative department.  If you know your parties extention enter it now."  I entered the extension 2476 which was the extention number that Nicole Davis left gave my mother.  When I started asking questions about this supposed debt, she got extremely rude with me.  She never answered any of my questions and hung up on me.

Because my mother had already given them her bank account information we had to rush to the bank to close the account before they could make any withdrawals.

Those of you with elderly parents, warn them.  They are the biggest targets for these types of scams.

I got a phone call as well from the same number - and they left a rude VM saying to call them. I called they told me I owe ATT 400 something odd dollars. Gave me my old cell phone numbers and asked for the payment on the spot. Told her no way, called At&t and after a while on the phone they verified it was my old bill from over a year ago I had not paid w/significant late fees and collections fees. So I called NRS and worked out a settlement. Thier website is nrs.us and are registered and bonded in my state.

The first thing you need to do is report these morons to the FTC for violation of Section 807 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA):

False or misleading representations

A debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:

The threat to take any action that cannot legally be taken or that is not intended to be taken.

Here is the link to the FTC's Complaint Form:

Dear {insert name of collector or company},

I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.

This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:

(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.

I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:

(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state)
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:

because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
you do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA;
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.

I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.

Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

If they keep calling you after you have written proof they have received it, they can face fines of up to $1,000.00 PER violation.

This agency called me over a debt I do not owe. A Tracy Brooks x 2596 called and spoke with my husband Ben. I returned their call to 800-387-5658 x 2596 and right away, this hot head collector started yelling. I told her to transfer me to her manager. She would not transfer me so I hung up the phone since she falsley placed me on hold only to retrieve my call and started to yell again.

The next person I tried to deal with a Mr. Wilson was calm but he turned out to be sneaky as well. Before I hung up on his a** he lied to me saying that my husband told the representative before that I would be paying him in full today. My husband said no such thing. I called my telephone service ATT and verified with them that I did not ow NSR $1180.82. The representative, Mr. Wilson continued to say that even though I do not owe ATT I still have to pay them the $1180.82. I told him he was a fraud and I would be sending him a letter to Cease and Desist his collection efforts.

These people try to play around with the caller to make them say that the debt is yours. Don't fall for it. Don't deal with them instead send them a letter to Cease and Desist.

Here is there address:

Shut up, you jack***. It was probably a typo. Besides, it seems like this company is calling just to get info and/or scam people out of money. Yes, some of them might not be paying their bills, but there ARE companies that try to collect on debts that either dont exist or are WAY passed the date they can legally collect on it.

And why are you replying to a post made back in JANUARY?

I have also been dealing with this company in that they have threatened me by telling att to file a law suit against me for a so called unpaid debt. What you need too do is go to  www.collectionstopper.com and have them start working on the cases if enough people start they can file a class action against them. You can also contact ATT executive offices 210-821-4105. To have them also start there own investigation against them if they are calling you about a so called att/cingular bill.

I got a call a month ago asking me to pay a few hundred dollars to Capital one bank. The fact was I had an account with Capital One bank and closed later at a branch and walked out with my balance in cash. and that was sometime between Aug-Oct in 2007. They asked me to pay off the balance at the spot, or else they'll hit my credit. They refused to tell me how the debt occured after I CLOSED my account. They said that I made arrangement of payment to somebody, and Capital One paid it so I now owe the bank. I have never received anything from Capital One about this. And I dont think after the account is closed, the bank activity is still active. AND, I DID NOT arrange payment to anybody from Capital One after I closed the account. Anyway, the person was VERY VERY RUDE on the phone, so I hang up in the end. Today I just received a message in my answering machine,(the second message infact)sound like from IRS and asking me to call back this number. So I went online and found this website, then I realize that last time it must be these people who called me. I will not talk to them again, ever! Go to the hell!

Called left on my fathers answering machine for me.  I don't even live with them and have never had a bill go to his address or use his phone number for any bills (so now I wonder how they got HIS number).  Said to call somebody (couldn't understand the name) at 1-800-387-5658 at Ext 2558.  After reading all of the posts on 800notes.com, the only thing I want is for these people to stop calling my fathers residence trying to reach me.  Oh, they when they said the company name they said it very mumbled and made it sound liek "IRS" instead of "NRS".
