I would like to report a number that will not stop calling my phone.  I am elderly and they are looking for someone who does not live with me.  The number is 800-390-7586.

This pest has been calling me daily since February 7 and also calls me from a spoofed number--415-659-9170.  I have never answered any of the calls, the latest one being this morning (on a Saturday) around 8:00 a.m.  I have blocked both numbers through my telephone service provider. and I also ordered my credit report this morning.  I have absolutely no past due or uncollected debt.  I have also listed my land line number with Nomorobo.  To say that I am angry is an understatement.  Why should I be harassed by a debt collector scammer merely because I choose to pay for a telephone for my own personal use.  We in the United States truly are victims of telephone terrorism.

Dealing with the original creditor is something that should have been done before they sold your (not your as in you, but generic) debt to a debt collector because now it's too late.  You need to know if they bought your debt or if they are just servicing it.  Midland tends to buy debts for pennies on the dollar but others just contracted by the original creditor to service the debt meaning they collect it on behalf of the original lender.  It's like hiring a maid to clean your house.  Your house is still clean but you didn't do any work.  You can deal with the original creditor if the DCA is collecting on their behalf, or if you somehow convince the DCA to to close the account and send it back (as long as they bought the debt from the original creditor and not another DCA).  My goodness, this is confusing and I hope I didn't get it wrong.  Someone like Tamianth or Gunnar can correct me if I"m wrong.

In my previous post I mentioned a neighbor using us as emergency contacts?  The last time they called and I actually got a rep on the phone, she asked if I knew how to get a hold of this person.  I explained that i make $800.00 a week and my time is VERY valuable.  No, I don't know this person [I explained] but if they expect me to do their job and find this person for them, my fee is $20.00/hour plus related expenses.  My final words before hanging up 'if you're not interested in my help, then stop calling me'.

Don't assume anything, one of our neighbors had actually put us down as emergency contacts with our phone number and we didn't even know them.  Started getting calls after they were evicted.

What they're doing is known as skip-tracing, they call back any known phone numbers for the individual even if they haven't had the number in YEARS.  Thus, people now using this numbers get these calls.  Sadly, by either pressing a number to indicate it's a wrong number or calling back can result in more calls since they rarely remove these numbers from the files.

I done collections for a year and was forced to do skip-trace and hated it!  Would NEVER do that kind of work again, completely against my morals and beliefs.

This number called my house twice yesterday.  Just after 08:00 and again just before 21:00.  Not recognizing the number I allowed it to roll over to my voice mail.  The message went something like this;  This is an attempt to collect a debt from 'Individual's name' if this is not 'individual's name' please delete this message as it is does not concern you.  The message then goes on to leave a call-back number and reference number.

Am I wrong in my thinking, have the laws changed?  I didn't think a collection agency [or anyone] attempting to collect a debt was allowed to disclose that they're looking for a person [by name] in an attempt to collect a debt?

we have been getting called from this number every morning at around 8:30. They never say anything and it's very annoying. I wish that there was a law against this mess.

I am getting at least 6 calls a day....When I answer there is no one there, then a busy signal. I owe no one debt free.
What's the point !!

I get calls from over 15 collectors asking for someone else--months and months and months of calls all day long.  I sent certified cease and desist letters.  I took photographs of the calls, got an attorney, notified the ftc., the calls continue.  People need to get fed up enough and call their Congressman or e-mail their Congressman to do something about this, what I call, domestic terrorism.  The only thing that stops these calls is disconnecting the phone wire.  I have read online where some people who have settled with debt collectors found charges on their bank accounts from unknown sources months later.  Don't talk to these collectors, period.  If you owe money, talk to the original creditor.

Dont have a Phone give them another way to find you :)

get there name and make sure to find out where in the state they are calling from and sue them personally or just go and find them and give them ahooo's a nice FUBAR LOL :)

I received a call from this number which was rather threatening about a debt from 2-3 years ago demanding a full or partial payment on an amount over $200. She never said what it was for when I challenged her on it. I let her know flat out that I wasn't paying any amount and that I had no idea who she was or anything about the so-called company she worked for.

Stop calling my number I do not know a bill at. The message left is to delete and they never do plus you can not delete a home phone. Stop doing this

I just got a letter saying I owe Verizon $234.00 I have never had an account with verizon !!!!

I get this call all of the time and never answer.  I finally answered today and they were looking for Melissa and my last name.  I told the lady i do not know anyone by that name.   She said she would remove MY number from their file.  When i asked to what this was referring, she would only say that my number would be removed from "Melissa's" file.    I was told by someone else that when a collection agency is looking for someone, they look up the last name of the person and call everyone with that name in hopes of finding that person.

I received a call from this number, 800-390-7586, on 10/8/2012,  12:40pm (EST). It shows up on the caller ID as "800 service." It's an annoying spammer.

calling me at WORK!!!!!!!!!! Past years of an OLD debt. I am turning them in to the STATE controllers office. Just b/cause you had an old debt from the past does NOT mean you do not have any rights because you do. it is YOU decision if you pay it or not.

If you call the number they have an automated phone number removal. Just press 1 and remove your number. I did it. We will see if it was just as easy as that. We moved into a new house and got our new phone number and from day 1 we get so many people calling to collect on debts from the people that held this number before us. Many of them keep calling back even though I tell them to remove us and we are not the people they are looking for. I have a 9 month old and I need the phone to stop ringing!

I got a phone call from 800-305-5112, they ask me to pay the amount like $80 for my at&t phone bill. I just call the at&t, they said that must be scam. Don't give them any information about account or credit card. They have call me twice, and before that they send me several letters to ask me pay the bills.
Hope the cop can catch them soon!

i got a call from this nunber. she asked for me by name like she knew me. then she said this is enhanced recovery service about my ikea account. then she said is this you? i said no. then she said this call will be recorded. i todl her that was illegal. you cannot record a phone call without saying it up front. so that co. is screwed up!  i hung up. what a bunch of scammers!

I got a call from then and i asked what debt and they asked me who i was. I ssid yiu called me who are you looking for.? She told me and then i said what debt do i owe? Then this idiot start asking me where i lived and i asked her what debt do i owe? We went round and round until the idiot hung up the phone. So i just blocked the two numbers on my cell and if they call again i will block all 800 numbers. Send me something in the mail if i owe a debt that i know i dont owe.

you need to tape the calls if possible, send letter with a sig card returned so you have proof, then report to FCC, report to them, everytime they call, and mainly report to state Attorney. they CAN do something. only other person who could is a provate hire, IF you can find one who would do it and not charge you. Oh you might send complaint, info about fraud to Dell, and tell them you want them to quit, as they hired them.  I would file a complaint with BBB on both parties the $ is owed to and the collectors.
   Besides the above, I was told to change my phone # and have it unlisted.   At least you would still have 911 in case you need it.
this guy is an idiot and IS doing something against the law! they can't ask you to pay someone else debt. Just don't let the agency's you report to off the hook.

Payerc also uses 805-637-7243 and 800-390-7644 for harassment purposes.  I have told these people for almost one year that we are not the party that they are seeking, and that our phone number has been assigned to us for 12 years.  I have personally spoken to at least 3 different people from the company and I usually just ignore the calls.  Today, I called them again and spoke to another person.  I wonder how long it will take them to start calling again.

This company is calling me they never have a human speak to me its always automated I am tired of them calling me . They say the company name is ERC and the web site is www.ercpay.com and this is the number that shows on my caller id 1.800.586.0013. They tell me to go to that website with the reference number provided to make a PAYMENT. They call me about twice a day and five days a week. The most recent was today 11.10.2011
