I got a call from this company today informing me that Ricoh Toner price is going up and if I would like to order one today at old price. When I  told the rep. not to call me and he had call me before, the rep. stated cursing and calling me names. Something needs to be done about these people. Last year they sent me a toner and later on a bill for $611.05. We did not order that toner but they said one of my employee had authorized it. The payment address on invoice is as following:
Regional Processing Department
40485 Murrieta Hot Springs Rd# B4-287

This company called me and made it seem as if  our office had ordered from them before. They were fast talking and  unfortunately  it seemed as they were offering us a deal. They did not tell me that  they would charge our office  $1497.51  for three boxes of toner that  costs  about $65- $75 at  stores like Staples or Office Depot.
One box of toner first  came in without a  bill  and I  put it into the  office machine. But then another 2 boxes of toner came  weeks later and with an extremely high bill.  I called the company but they said that it is written in stone and  they don't take back their products and  the invoice says that  we have to pay  or be sent to collections  and possibly pay for  attorney fees  for their side of the matter. It did scare me but it sounded so strange that  a company can have such a policy  so as not to  accept their product back for a refund and obligate you to pay a large price you were not previously told about, ( no legitimate  or  ethical company would just do this at least without prior  warning ). The invoice also says  that  they may charge  a percentage according to how late you pay the bill and also that  they will send you to collections if you don't pay.

So I   intend to send back the unused toner even though  they said that they won't take it back and that we are obligated to pay them.  I am sending a copy of this entire discussion  thread  with it's complaints  against this company and also a copy of what it says on the Better Business Bureau website about this company ( they are not accredited by the BBB).
I am also sending a letter saying that  they misled me  and that I was never told that I would be charged this much  and I  was misled into thinking that our office had previously ordered from this company when our office never did.

I also read on the internet that in a situation like this,  there was never a written contract  between their company and ours so  there  is no obligation on our part to pay  this amount.

So  if they are going to drag us into court,  I think we can present the fact that this company  has lots of the same kind of complaints against it.

Anyone here think that  this company may have legal leverage over  me?

First- thank you posters! You helped me not fall for this scam, which is operating with a new business address:

Regional Processing
40485 Murrieta Hot Springs Rd #B4-287
Murrieta, CA, 92563

My experience is similar to the others, though slightly different.

I received a phone call concerning a past due invoice, which I gave out our fax number for. The invoice came in at over $600 for 1 box of toner. I called this number "customer service" and told them that we could not have conceivably ordered that much toner, especially since we only had 1 box of toner in the back. A "Sandra" told me that the toner comes in a case multiple pack of 4 and that the other 3 boxes had been back ordered. I told her to cancel everything and she sent me an invoice for around $200 (still outrageous price). She also said that she had received two verbal confirmations of the order... and after my questioning that they "don't do written or website orders."

So I filed a new complaint with the FTC and will not be paying.

Just got a phone call that went like this:
Me: "Dr. ___ office how may I help you?"
Girl: " Hello I need to get the information off the front of your copier."
Me: "Who are you calling with?"
Girl: "Regional Processing."
Me: "Why are you needing this information?"

CLICK. She hung up on me. I get these calls randomly every few weeks to a month and it's quite annoying. Wake up scammers...I'm on to your game!

Same thing happened! They called our company and said we were getting a courtesy toner, since we've been paying the 419.00 they will still bill us at the same price since it's going up. However, we receive the toner 2 wks before the invoice comes for 462.45. JUST A RIP OFF!!!!!

The exact same thing happened to me. Recieved a call about a renegotiated toner price increase, and since our supervisor was out, I just said sure. A week later we recieved toner in the mail, and my supervisors immediately said, oh, you fell for a scam. Went ahead and reported it to the FTC. Since they recommend keeping any unwanted packages, looks like we have some free toner! Do not pay this company.

This company called our order entry girl which is new to the company. They told her we had a contract and the toners have gone up but will honor the old price. She didn't know this was a scam until we got the bill yesterday. They charged us $539.00 plus tax for one toner. Is that the craziest s*** you ever heard? WHo in their right mind would spend that much on one toner. Not only that, the description for the toner was for a Sharp machine and the toner is HP. I will be calling them today...how do people sleep at night knowing they are ripping companies off. We will never pay this invoice no matter what they do. I will be sending this back as well. Either that or throwing it away. It isn't even OEM. Some off brand not even in English. Whatever. So frustrating...

I recently learned that our company is not alone in being the victim of a scam in which a Regional Processing Department (RPD) telemarketer calls a business, offers to sell toner at a tremendous savings and then continues to send more toner even though it was never authorized.  Then persistent phone calls are made to the unsuspecting consumer to collect for product that was never ordered at inflated prices.

My research has shown that the same exact toner can be purchased for our Canon NP1020 for under $20/cartridge.  They have charged us $119/cartridge x 6 which was supposed to have reflected an $89 discount for each cartridge plus $ 64.83 shipping.  (If they cannot sell the product for under $20 per cartridge, they are doing something wrong.)

The first shipment of 2 cartridges was sent to us and we naively paid $256.93 for them on April 21, 2012. We then received another shipment of 4 more in May 2012.  I called immediately and indicated that we did not order 6 cartridges toner.  A company representative returned my call and insisted that our employee authorized such an order.  Upon speaking with our employee, he remembers receiving a call from RPD soliciting toner at a great price however he denied ever placing an order for $778.83.  I have offered to return the product for a full refund and was told the refund period expired and I could only exchange the product for other types of inks or toners. ( which would be sold to me at the same inflated prices )  Until now, I thought he might have been confused, but now I realize that the Regional Processing Department is a deceptive company and overcharges it customers and then harasses them to pay for more product than they may have ordered. It is obvious to discern that even if one payment is made on the first inflated invoice, it more than covers the cost of any more product sent to the unsuspecting recipient which is how the how scam works.

The person was out on vacation who normally orders supplies. This company called to say they were Xerox and that there was going to be a price increase in the toner we use for our copier. Then they said I would recieve a call from their processing center. I have a contract with Xerox where I don't have to pay for supplies (found out when person returned from vacation). Not going to pay this bill. Called customer service and got a machine. Hmmm....

Same scam.  The salesperson called one of our stores, knew the copier type and toner cartridge number.  Telemarketer said the toner price was going up, but we can still buy at the lower price if we ordered right then.

Our copier machines are leased through Ricoh, and toner cartridges are included in the lease price.  The telemarketer intentionally misrepresented themselves as our supplier.  Calls to 800-391-5235 have not been returned.

Regional Processing Department called our company saying there was a price increase on our toner. since they did not inform us of this increase they had two toners for us at the old price. I was in a hurry that day and didn't remember seeing the toner in the supply cabinet so I said ok. Well the toner arrives and the president said why you order those toner for that price. I explained only to go on line to see the exact same toner sold for $15.00 to $9.00 not the $137.00 they were charging. Tried calling to get a RMA only to get an answering machine...

From the Federal Trade Commission Website:

You can protect your organization from paying for unordered goods and services. Here?s how:
1. Know your rights. If you receive supplies or bills for services you didn?t order, don?t pay, and don?t return the unordered merchandise. You may treat unordered merchandise as a gift. By law, it?s illegal for a seller to send you bills or dunning notices for unordered merchandise, or ask you to return it ? even if the seller offers to pay for shipping. Further, if the seller sends you items that differ from your order in brand name, type, quantity, size, or quality ? without your prior express agreement ? you may treat the substitutions as unordered merchandise. Unordered services are treated the same way. However, first consider the possibility that the seller made an honest mistake.

This scam has been going on for some time, unfortunately a new person in our office answered the call, but did not give out any information on our copier - they had that information - we received a cartridge within the next couple of days, we get our cartridges under a contract and I had just ordered, so it was thought that it was part of our order, yesterday I received a bill for $619.00 plus $84.31 freight - this will not be paid. I am going to try to get a shipping number see what they have to say.  We haven't gotten any follow-up calls yet, but we will see.

I received a call from these guys yesterday and was totally confused during the entire conversation. I told the lady, Cindy, that we order through staples. She kept talking about a case of toner for somewhere around $400.. She said they "forgot" to notify us of a nationwide price increase. She made it sound like she was with the Brother distribution plant and that we had ordered with them in the past. I told her that we order through staples and all she said was "I see that." What kind of an answer is that?? Before I got off the phone she said a sales rep would call tomorrow. The next morning I got the call from the rep and I said we would not be needing the toner. She said she would cancel the order and that was the end of it. I'm hoping she really did cancel it. If any package shows up from them I'm refusing it and having UPS send it right back. I will not accept anything from them. They cannot charge me for an item never received.

I did some google research and found that I am not the only one to be hunted. We don't have caller ID. I googled the address on the UPS box because there's no company name. I called them at 818-407-8975 and asked that we be put on the Do Not Call List and I told the girl that answered we're also on the National Do Not Call list. We get this call about once a month more or less. A man named Jason called yesterday saying he needed to update our info on the copier and asked what make/model it is. Then he said he's getting me the current price for toner but that it's going to increase soon. I told him we have a contract and our copier is a rental so we get our toner for free. He hung up. Today he called saying he needed to update our info for our copier so I asked who he's with. He hung up. That's when I started researching. This isn't the first time. When I started about a year ago, they said the same stuff and I didn't know any better so they sent some toner. That's when my boss told me we get it under our rental agreement. When I called the number today, the girl answering told me there's no Jason at that office and they only sell to businesses not individuals. It looks like the name changes and they don't want to give any information so as to not get caught.

I received a call from Caller ID: Phronesis. She said her name was Selena and asked what our copier model number was. I asked her for the name of her company and the following conversation occured:

Me: What's the name of your company?
Selena: I'm Sorry
Me: What company are you calling from?
Selena: I'm Sorry
Me: Who are you calling with?
Selena: I'm Sorry
Me: Is the name of your company "I'm sorry"?
Selena: You are a c*unt"
Me: Excuse me?
Selena: You are a s**t
Me: Excuse me, where are you calling from?
Selena: You are a w***e.
Me: Please remove us from your calling list... b*tch.
Selena then hung up.

This company has been calling almost every day for the past 2 weeks trying to acquire our ordering managers # and the make and model of our copying machine. I always try to request we be removed from the call list and to obtain any information I can, but usually as soon as I question the name of the company or ask for a call back# I am hung up on. This is the first time the caller treated me this way. If I had been able to obtain more information I would have contacted the BBB and FTC to report this as a scam.

They obviously work on the fact that receptionist won't query them when they say "contract".  When I was made aware of what was happening, I called the number.  Only ever get an answering machine.  Left 4 messages, and finally got a call back.  Lots of spouting of "your contract" etc.  Told them never to call or send again.  All staff have been alerted to this scam.  Toner cartridges retail for $85, this company was charging $349 per cartridge.  I have reported this to both the Federal Trade Commission and Kansas Attorney General.

This happened at our office a few months ago. We are STILL dealing with these people because they keep sending toner and saying its still part of our first order! We already have sent them around 800$ for the first order and REFUSE to send anymore money.. our secretary was new at the time and didn't know that the toner was overpriced in the first place so we decided to pay for that and told them we want NO MORE and to take us off the list. We even offered to ship everything back and just forget it but they won't even agree to that. Its basically been a nightmare and apparently they have been scamming a lot of businesses lately. We are not paying them another dime so they can call all they want, we've set up lawyers and i think its finally sunk in their head that we aren't paying for anything we didn't order. The first order was back in JUNE and its OCTOBER and we are still receiving toner... we couldn't use that much toner in 25 years so why would we 'order' it?? HUUUUUGE SCAM don't buy it

That is exactly what happened at our office.  When I answered the phone they knew exactly what the name of our toner was.  I thought they were with the people we got the machine from giving us a deal.  They said one, when I ask the Dr. he said yes so we got one.  Once it was paid they called and said they were sending out 2 more.  I said I thought that was all we could get is the 1 and she said not we had to to complete the order.  So when that was sent and paid for, They called last week and said they were sending out 4 more.  I said we don't want another one and she said this is what would complete the order and I told her thats what they said last time and that we didn't want anymore.  She then offered a 45 day and 65 day payment for them.  I called our place that we got our copier from and they said they get and sell the toner for $70.00, we were buying them for $479.00 that was suppose to be a savings of $89.00.  He told me we were being scamed and that they had to of called first and got information on it, then called a couple weeks later to start it.  I called them and told her I was refusing it, and she said well looking at the notes I don't see where you were upset about it last week and I said yes I was I told her I didn't want it then and she said well you ask about the 45 & 65 day payment and I told her I didn't that the girl that called said it to me.  She said I had to pay for it and I said not I don't I was refusing, she said they don't take them back and I said well then they'll be sitting somewhere but not here!!  So I expect to have it sent also toi collection, but we won't pay!!!!

Yes, this company is definitely a scam. Pretty much what the rest of the complaints happened to me also. What they do is call your company, ask for your name, your position and then what kind of toner the company uses etc, etc.  Of course, as an office worker and the person that answers the phone all the time, I know that this information can easily be given out because these are not confidential information.

After a week or so, they'll call you back and tells you that they will be sending you a toner because they forgot to inform you somehow that they changed their price and for you to save a couple of dollars, they will send a toner using the old price. Even if you did not give them the permission because for sure the normal answer you can give them is that the copiers and toners that you have in your office are under contract with another company (which usually is the case in almost all the companies)- still before you know it they already shipped it out to you and when you receive it, the packing slip doesn?t show any prices etc.- then here comes the part where they send you out the invoice and you will be surprised because like in my case, they sent me a toner that actually costs $80+/pc and their invoice to me was $470 something. Are you kidding me?

I actually called this company so many times and was able to talk to their customer service but of course their alibi is that they cannot be of help anymore because if it was already submitted to the collection agency etc.etc, only the collection agency can answer it. When you call the collection agency, they will argue with you and the conversation will just go on and on. I even told them so many times that they are a scam.

They never received a single cent from us and will never be.

Please? to all companies that are getting this calls, please investigate first before falling for this scams. Just want to mention also the company Progressive Business Publications- another company that?s also a scam (newsletters are their products)- same strategy with this Regional Processing Dept. when making calls and getting information ?  then they?ll send you the newsletter with 10 pages amounting to $299.00 for 12 subscriptions , then send you invoice then to collection agency- here?s the link for that (http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/progressive-business-publications-c115446.html ) ---- I know this is out of the topic but I just want to mention it out there to help out other companies that may be victimized by this scams. Thank you.

Our office manager assumed it was our copy supplier that was calling and ordered toner from them.  They say that she ordered a case of 29, however we wouldn't be able to use that much toner before the machine died from overuse!  They charged us $198 per cartridge and when I looked online they are only $15!  They also charged us $440 for shipping.  We are in the process of figuring out if we have an legal recourse to get our money back.  DO NOT TALK TO TELEMARKETERS!!!
