Wow, I'm glad I got chance to read some of your experiences. I too received calls from this number. The bad thing is they are calling my bank and harassing them.  Don't even work there.

Unfortunately, not all phone companies have the ability (or so they claim) to block numbers for you. My phone company has said numerous times when I've gone to them for help on harrassment calls, that there is nothing they can do to block a call, all they can do is a temporary phone number change that changes your number for a few weeks (assuming that someone is calling you every day) so that when the harrasser calls, they'll get a "We're sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service. Please check the number and dial again." After a few weeks, your number gets changed back. That's great if harrassers are calling every day and are then made to think your "old" number is no longer valid, but sucks if it's calls like this that are intermittent and only call every few weeks or so, but do it endlessly.

Therefore, the only thing left to do is go to the store and see about buying your own phone blocker.

At any rate, as others have said, NEVER give your personal information to people like this. Ignore the call(s), or, if you have to answer the phone, don't admit it's you answering the phone, and just ask them what the call is in regard to. If they refuse to tell you, and continue to demand to talk to the person they are requesting, just continue to ask what the call is in regard to, and eventually tell them, "Well, I can't help you if you refuse to tell me why you are calling. I cannot give any information regarding anyone who may or may not be living here if you're not going to tell me why you are calling." This will frustrate them immensely and they will eventually hang up when they realize they're not going to get anywhere with you.

I ended a car lease early & worked out a payment plan with Toyota to pay the remaining balance.  After I missed a payment, they turned it over to ART.  ART agreed to settle the balance, but they were very pushy about getting my bank account information then & there.  I told them to email me a letter with the settlement terms and I would send them my payment information in response.  It took them over a week to send the letter, they sent it at 4:30 PM and the letter said if payment wasn't received that day the agreement would be null & void.  Since I didn't see the email until the next day, I contacted them & asked them to send me a new letter with at least 48 hours to respond.  This time, I got the letter, faxed it back 5 minutes later, and emailed to let them know I had faxed it.  They told me I needed to fax it to another number that day, because the person I faxed to (per their original instructions 5 minutes earlier) was gone for the day.  I cooperated, and they billed my debit card within 30 minutes.  Then they billed my debit card AGAIN the next morning.  When I called to notify them, they told me it was because I'd faxed the billing authorization twice (in other words, blaming me for their mistake), and they'd credit my debit card that day.  It's two business days later, and they still haven't credited my bank account.  They're now telling me it's going to take them 3-4 additional business days to correct their mistake, and that there is nothing they can do to expedite it.  That's what I get for cooperating with a collections company.

They called me about a remaining balance on a VW. They allowed us to save 80% on the bill and we got it off of our credit as of last week. It's almost like pulling teeth to get verification emails that the debt is satisfied though. Finally got it.

well i have worked with a.r.t for numerous years and i decided to leave for their unethical practices of retaining money for past due debts... its on thing to owe a bill and need to work out pymnt arrangements, but its another thing to be trained to harass and belittle the debtors.. we are trained on how to locate you and your family to "flush you out" whether it be embarrass you at your place of employment, or call to your friends and family. We use a system called accurint - this shows all existing addresses for yourself and you family members. we are trained on how to harass you at your place of employment, we are given scripts to read to imply that we are going to sure you, garnish your wages, and place a lien on your home. we also make numerous phone calls from manager phones since these phones are not monitored and recorded. Basically this is done for the purpose of threatening you without having to worry about the call being recorded. We are also trained on how to check your bank account balances, as if we were you the customer. we place calls on speaker so everyone can hear the person on the other line, crying and upset. the company also practices in running UN-authorized checks through your checking act, which on numerous occasions will overdraw your bank account. They employ convicted felons who have credit card fraud, and check theft charges, these people should not have access to any banking information. There are drugs sold all throughout the company, drinking on the job... I decided to leave because I cannot associate myself with these unethical practices, and I refuse to pray on people who can barely survive in today's economy. I believe in the working American, and I believe it doesn't make you a bad person because you owe a debt, it makes the company bad people for continuing these practices. Good luck

These people have been repeatedly calling my number for weeks looking for someone I do not know.  They are rude beyond belief.  They have a rotary calling system and I answered it today and pressed the button indicating I was someone other than who they were looking for and was on hold for over 10 minutes before someone finally picked up (I figured it was on their dime since it was a 800 number).  The idiot had the nerve to chastise me for having to wait for me to come back to the phone.  And she also had the nerve to tell me she had not called, her computer did and I told her that her company shouldn't call unless it was ready to talk to the person they were calling.  Since I am retired, I have decided that I will have fun at their expense.  I will answer the phone and run up their bill by keeping them on hold.  I am also calling the numbers back and expressing my dismay at them calling me.  This really irks them and they have told me that they have work to do and cannot be involved with my pettiness.  I don't know who the person they are calling.  I figure they entered an incorrect number in their system or someone gave them an incorrect number on purpose but I have decided to screw with them and make them as miserable as possible.  And it is working because they are indignant that I would do such a thing.  Two can play this game.

If you would like to put an end to these calls, get the name of the companies, I have seen 4 different names attached to this phone # 800-392-4029.When they call, if you do answer, tell them you know nothing about what they want and then tell them you are sending a CEASE and DESIST letter and then follow through with it, once you notify them with the Cand D letter, if they continue to harrass you, file complaints with your State AG's office and then file lawsuits, they can be fined or you can get up to 1000 dollars per offense after notifying them with the Cand D letter. You don't have to trll them, just send it to them.

This phone # 800-392-4029 has at least 3 company names attached to it, I don't care if it's Accounts Receivable Technology or First Credit Services, Inc or Stanley Weinberg & Associates, this bullsh_t better stop, they are not only calling me, they are calling my family and people in the neighborhood where i live and people are really getting pissed at me and i'm not putting up with any more bullsh_t from them. At this time i am writing a CEASE and DESIST letter and will address it to all 3 company names and tell them, If you persist to call anyone about this anymore, lawsuits will be filed, I have no idea what this is about and it will stop or else. I encourage everyone being bothered by these companies and or others using the same number to send a C & D letter and then file complaints with the State AG's office and then begin filing lawsuits, If they continue to bother you after you send a CEASE and DESIST letter, they can be fined up to 1000 dollars per offense after you have warned them.I should say i believe you can get up to 1000 dollars per recurring offense, so let's get those letters going, I bet you will see this crap stop real fast. If not, they go broke and out of business, with any luck at all. Seriously, a CEASE and DESIST letter should do the trick.

I have the same issue, it has been going on for over a year, they are looking for someone with the same last name as mine, I played along and got a call from a Feferal Officer notifying me that if I do not provide the information they are asking for I will be charged with obstruction of justice. I did not give them the information, waiting to see what happens next, all of the numbers they are using are on my caller reject list.

Just to add another comment...thanks for the info.  I will go to a pay phone and start calling their CEO....it is amazing that consumers have no recourse.  My son started talking gibberish to them and they hung up.  Wonder if I can leave their line open somehow.  I started asking who they were, and got maybe a little high voiced, and the chickadee at the other end said "now you are making me upset" and hung up.

These guys have been calling me for years, all regarding a Gold's acct that was settled YEARS AGO.  I signed up for a student membership, which I was informed did not require a time commitment for membership - i.e. I could just pay month to month and cancel at any time.  I did so after four months, as the gym in my area was undergoing renovations and not a pleasant place to work out in.  One year later, the calls start.

And they continue to this day.  About two years ago I provided them with all the paperwork from Gold's STATING I OWED NO MONEY.  Calls stopped for awhile, and now they are calling again, claiming I owe them $150.  Nothing has ever been filed on my credit, as it shouldn't be, because this is a company that does not care if you don't owe them money - they'll keep calling you anyway even if the debt has been legitimately settled.

I just set them to no-ring and go on about my business.  I'm sick of faxing them paperwork proving I don't owe them money just to have them say they didn't receive it, they show no record of it, etc etc.

These guys are ten kinds of rude, and call outside of the allowable hours as stated by the FCC.  Document, document, document and report them.  I am, and will continue to.

Side note - even after requesting proof in writing, I still have NEVER received any written correspondence from these people.  Scammers.

I get calls from 800-392-4029 on a daily basis - sometimes more than i can count. sometimes they leave a message and other times they don't. With my background experience, I know how to deal with collectors (if that's who this is) i'm sure it is, but if they never identify who they are or what they want, it may just be a scam...

I suspect they are a collection agency.  After calling last 3 days and leaving no message, they woke me up today (Saturday) and of course left no message.

#1 I set their number to no ring on my cell phone.  #2  I blasted the nastiest song I could find Geto Boys "F*** Em All" set my phone on speaker next to my stereo and called them back.  1st time the stupid receptionist repeated hello 10 times before hanging up, the 2nd through 5th times she hung up pretty quickly.  I pushed 0 for the receptionist but may start dialing random extensions if this continues.

I will be repeating #2 as often as I can and urge anyone else getting calls from these f***s to do the same.  I dare this unethical collection agency to complain about harassment. (Sorry for the profanity but they've pissed me off).
