I called the number back and followed the steps to get removed from the calling list.  It worked for about 2 weeks.  Now they're calling again so I just don't answer.

I get about 5 - 10 calls from this number daily. Twice it has been a telemarketer from Roger's and the rest of the time it is just dead.

Why do people insist on adding comments saying the exact same thing over and over again?

I called, and pressed 1 to remove my number from the list.  After waiting the two minutes it takes for `the voice' to go through her entire shpeel, she read out the number they were going to remove from the list, but it wasn't mine.  I had to wait until the end and manually enter my phone number.

Moral: don't just hit 1 and hang up.

I was able to get one of these little morons on the phone and it is a rep calling from Rogers Communication.  They are annoying little buggers as they call me 8 to 9 times day which is beginning to piss me off.  The second I get a hold of someone live..they hang up on you as if they're trying to increase their call logs.  It's rather annoying as their miss calls push my real miss calls off my history list becaues of how much they call my number.

My theory is that Rogers hires this company to call you so that you run up your pay-as-you-go phone bill every time you answer the phone (cell phone users).  They only seem to call during peak-rate times and always hang up, even when you get someone live.  One time, the caller started identifying himself as calling from Gemme communications and then spontaneously hung up mid-sentence.  I think that was intentional.

Very very annoying as they always seem to call during business meetings.  I tried the "remove my number" thing, but will see if that works.  The exact same thing happened with a different company "calling on behalf of Rogers" some weeks ago.
I got my number removed and then this one started.

I get these phone calls at the office.  I had the telephone number removed from their calling list last year, but the phone calls have started again!  On the plus side, at least having the number removed stopped the calls for a while.

Hahaha. Karma.

I've been getting calls from this number for the past three or four days and I don't generally pick up unless I know who is calling me but they would never leave a message. Anyways, I used to work for Gemma Communications so when I read above that it's coming from them I laughed so hard I almost spat out my coffee. Just a bit of advice for anyone who's being called by Gemma Communications(this is their number, I called the number back and it was confirmed as being Gemma C.) ... Either politely tell them you're broke, right away (make it sound as if you're borderline homeless, can't pay rent or eat this month and sound sad) or ask to be taken off the list (politely). I would go with the poverty line if I were you because that automatically forces the telemarketer to close the conversation and check a box on the system's computer program that says 'cannot afford' and the company doesn't want to waste time calling someone who can't pay for anything so you avoid multiple telemarketing offers.  I think it's about five months before they try you again. Otherwise, if you ask to be taken off the list, do so politely (or they can check the box that says call back in fifteen minutes and a new unsuspecting telemarketer will dial you) and it's still not 100% guaranteed you won't get a call from them again. I guess the company honchos assume it's usually worth the risk of making a customer furious on the off chance they'll be in a better mood the next time. If things haven't entirely changed in the few years since I worked there then trust me on this one.

I know these calls are terribly annoying but try to remember the person on the other end of the line probably really hates their job and just needs the money/isn't familiar enough with the city to find a better job. All of the above were true in my case and most of my coworkers. Best of luck with your number hunting.

I live in Waterloo, Ontario.  This number called me at work and it was 'dead' on the other end.  I didnt bother waiting because usually what happens with telemarketing these days is it dials first, if picked up it passes you onto somebody.  This can take about 10 seconds and then someone comes on and goes "hello??"  like you called them!

I have had this number calling daily for at least 1-3 weeks.

I checked the number here and saw that people called the number back and discovered the same thing: Gemma Communications, it said they were calling on behalf of Rogers.

Call the number to get a recording which gives you the option to remove your number from their file by pressing option #1.

These guys call every damn day, and the only company that calls my cell phone.  I have my cell # on the new "Do not call" list, so I'll wait the 20 or so more days until my number is properly distributed, and if the calls don't stop, I'll simply have them charged.  Took long enough for the government to implement the damn do not call legislation!!

Why so upset?

I mean sometimes telemarketing has some good stuff to sell! I got half price on my phone bill with Bell, a great deal on Roger's services (through Gemma telemarketing) and newspapers that I wanted for 5 bucks a month - compared to the almost 30 bucks a month I was paying at the newstand!

I mean what I really hate is motherf***** television commercials! - WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO WATCH F'IN COMMERCIALS?

I DON'T WANT AN IPHONE GOD DAMN IT - STFU AND LET ME WATCH MY SHOWS!

Maybe we can get a national 'do not advertise' petition going against cable companies -- we could sign it if we do not wish to be advertised to :)

Television marketing is the worst in my opinion -- I hate it.

I have the number in my contact list under "Ignore" 800-395-1272 and I did answer and she did say she was calling from Gemma Solutions, a Canadian company calling on behalf of my credit card company. It seems that in fact they are calling on behalf of a company in Florida who sells insurance. Believe me, being Canadian and dealing with an American company makes me nervous. And I regret not asking her for a number for Gemma Solutions. Later on during the call, she became difficult to hear and she asked if I would like her to read out the agreement or whatever or if I would like to wait 2 weeks for the paper to arrive in the mail. I told her she was cutting out, and concerned about my Koodo minutes being used up on this call, I told her I would wait for the mail. She said the insurance would start on the first day of my next billing date. She also said that I would not be charged anything if I did not spend anything. In the past, I signed up for some credit report thing that was $9.99 a month which I ended up cancelling. She said the insurance cost 99 cents per average daily balance. She gave an example, if I spent $500 it would cost only $4.95. I quickly did math on some paper and I owe over 10,000 on my credit card. I worried this insurance would cost me $99.00 a month and with only $600 available credit left, I obviously cannot afford that. She assured me if I spent nothing, this insurance would be free. Each time she gave out a phone number (ie to call and cancel the insurance) she spoke very quickly so I had her repeat these numbers. Obviously, if I don't have the right number to cancel I'd be in trouble and I'm sure that's how they make money.
What I would like to know is, how much can Gemma be making working for this Florida company if the insurance supposedly costs so little?
