I would send a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Maybe if they continually get official complaints they will do something about it. I had the same problem and just filled out a complaint on-line with the BBB. Hopefully this will work.

This # is coming from Bally's Total Fitness. I have no idea why they are calling. Membership? Past due bill? I am not a member and have never even requested info. I have never been interested nor will ever be interested in becoming a member.
I called the number back and talked to a rep. She gets these calls regularly. She is giving my # to her supervisor to tale off their list. Hopefully they will stop within 24 hours.

Hi!!! I am receiving that call many times a day. If you call back and want to talk to a rep, the charge you 5$!! So it's criminal... In fact, if you want them to stop calling you, you must pay them 5$!!
Report them to the police!!
Member 2011-06-06 20:57:43 Unknown
My new card was not set up for auto pay, I'll have to take with Bally's in person. Just pay your bill and they will cease calling.
chris 2011-06-06 20:57:43 Unknown
same here. The recording says it's calling for someone I do not know of. And if you hit the key to say you are not that person, they'll call back with the same message anyways. I get three or four calls a day and I am sick of it.

STOP CALLING ME!!! this is a buisness line, if i wanted your services i would have sollicited YOU.
Greg Washington DC 2011-06-06 20:57:43 Unknown
This is BALLY (sh*t faced) total fitness. They're calling most likely because you have an outstanding balance with them, which you're obliged to pay since you (as gullible as I) signed into a 3 year contract with them.

They have been calling me consecutively everyday harassing me about an account I have with them. I DON'T EVEN HAVE A GYM MEMBERSHIP!!! I've told them twice already I don't have anything to do with their company or want anything to do with them from all the really bad reviews and facts I have heard from people I know who have unfortunately been sucked into them. I really hope Bally Total Fitness Gym goes Bankrupt or shuts down. They told me they would take their number off their call list twice and yet I keep getting calls from them. I don't even know how they got my number. I watched a couple months back a really bad publicity report about Bally's on NBC news. BALLY TOTAL FITNESS GYM NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!
jr 2011-06-06 20:57:43 Unknown
Watch out for any contracts with Bally Fitness who feel they have more velocity than a judge in a courthouse.
Kris 2011-06-06 20:57:43 Unknown
These people are calling for a person I don't even know and they are calling my work line!! I just transfered into this office and I have no idea where they are calling from - but the call daily - using up my voice mail placing my voice mail on hold! They ask for someone who doesn't work her....at least not anymore. Its really getting bad!

Sick of these Punks (1-800-396-0554) and logged with DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. Will lodge complaint if the calls continue.

I have received 26 calls from Bally Total Fitness in the past two weeks. The call is computer generated and the voice asks about a bill or account. I have signed up for every no call program I can find but this call system seems to have little respect for that kind of request. Yes, complaints to the BBB may help.

The calls keeping coming to my mobile with a recorded message for someone whom I have never known. It is really annoying as I get calls at my work and late in the night. I just registered my number with NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY (www.donotcall.gov)
Really Creepy!

So far, Bally Total Fitness (800-396-0554) has called one time on 9/10/08, 2 times on 9/11/08, and 3 times on 9/12/08. These automated calls were unsolicited. There are numerous complaints on the Internet about 800-396-0554 and about Bally Total Fitness. They have been reported to the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY (www.donotcall.gov) and I
encourage others to do the same.

I found the same thing Cathy did. I've been receiving calls from this number multiple times per day also, and I've never answered the phone, since it showed "Toll Free" and 1-800-396-0554 on the caller i.d. and knew it was probably a solicitor. They don't leave a message on the voice mail, but after googling this number, I found them listed on the same site Cathy found:
http://www.citibank.com/us/cards/tour/cb/aa_abp_categ.jsp
Which is the "automatic bill payments" page for Citibank. Scrolling down the page, you see the number "1-800-396-0554" listed next to "Gorilla Sports." And what's funny, is there isn't a Gorilla Sports anywhere in my state! Plus I have never belonged to a gym, ever. So they have no reason to be calling and so like the other poster, I won't be answering the calls.

I looked up the corporations list of officers and found Michael A Feder listed as the president. I called there corporate office at 773-380-3000. I asked for Mr. Feder and was transferred to his voicemail, where I left a message expressing my frustration in attempting to get this to stop. 2 hours later I received a call from Bob Stuart, VP Member Service, Bally Total Fitness who assured me this would stop and my number had been put on an "exclusion list" as a precautionary measure so it wouldn't be dialed again. He was baffled that I had to call the President as he was able to look up the account my number was tied to and remove it in less than 30 seconds. He said that it sounded like the protocol wasn't followed and they'd be pulling the recordings from the days my phone was called. (He offered me 6 months free membership, but I turned it down as I am happy with 24 Hour Fitness).

I have had this call multiple times within the past 2 weeks (approx. 25 - 30 calls on caller-ID). I called last week and told the girl rep. that I don't have a 13 digit number because I am not a member. She asked then if I knew who was calling and I said that I didn't and to remove me from the calling list as this is my number. The girl said she'd give it to her supervisor to have removed within a few days. (I thought that it doesn't take that long to remove a number as I used to use predictive dialing in a previous job). The calls continued 2 - 3x a day. They even called on the weekends! This has been clogging my answering machine up. I was away this weekend and had 10 messages all from this company and it won't even leave a full message. I called again last night and spoke to "Jarvis" who said that he'd see that my request be put through. I told him if one more call comes through I will be filing a complaint or worse. From this point forward, I am going to log all calls, sending a cease and desist letter; if it continues I am filing suit for harassment.

It's just Bally's Total Fitness billing department. Pay your bill, fool!
Katie 2008-08-05 19:00:21 Unknown
I called and lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I suggest everyone do it. If they continue to get the same complaints from a legit source they may start to do something about their harrassing techniques.

Hopes this helps you. I just posted this on 800notes.com
This is what I found out on-line on a Citicorp automated bill paying information site (web address: http://www.citibank.com/us/cards/tour/cb/aa_abp_categ.jsp )
Gorilla Sports www.gorillasports.com 1-800-396-0554
I have just received my second call today and am not going to answer. This is a website for gyms in NY, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Don't know why they are calling. I've never heard of them and certainly haven't authorized any business with them.
