Received a inconspicuous looking mailing stating on the outside "Business Mail-Penalty for Tampering; FORM 2007 096-5B" on the prepaid mail it states that it was mailed from Blue Springs, MO under Permit No. 41.
The inside announces winning of 2 round trip airfares to a major international airport of your choice within the continental US, it further advises that first 100 callers receive a 7 day car rental, offer #3030531 and is on behalf of "US Airlines" & AVIS indiscriminately using their logos.
This notice encourages the recipient to contact 1-800-413-5613 "for details".
Appears a fraudulent attempt downright.
The research for this number leads to an outfit by the name Global Services Network however so far they have been able to conceal this given 800 phone number from information about them but are being investigated by the crime control division of the FBI.

I received  a one of these mailings, complete with a boarding pass on American Airline. The phone number is  800-809-6310. This scam is being run in Fort Mills, SC on Gold Hill Rd. I made an appointment for Thursday Feb. 19th, I will be cancelling. I'm glad I did my online research.

I received the same mailing described above.  The front of my notice said "Business Mail-Penalty for Tampering; FORM 2008 096-5B." The address on the voucher was 3509 NW View Place, Blue Springs, MO 64015.  The inside read "Our accounting department shows you have been identifed for two roundtrip airfares to a major international airport of my your choice within the continental U.S," and provided phone number 1.800.413.5613 to claim the prize.  I called the number and after asking several times for the name of the company, was finally told that it was Global Services Network.  I told them I believed this was a fraud and as a federal employee and attorney, I was planning to report it and asked that they remove me from their mailing list.

Your Post has been really informative.  We are scheduled to attend a presentation today and I woke up this morning with a very weird feeling about the entire thing.  I'm not agreeing to any packages that require me to give them my credit card information.

Thanks,

I had scheduled to go to an appointment to hear their presentation in Bothell, Washington on Friday April 1st, originally at the Hilton I believe, they called today to inform me it had been moved to the Country Inn and Suites? Which reminded me to "google" this company? So I googled this number and was brought here and a few other places where not one positive review existed? So I called back and canceled. Spoke with a guy name John, very nice, wasn't upset that I was canceling, told me to enjoy the rest of my weekend? So while the company is more than likely bogus, at least the due was nice?

It's a bunch of crap!
I received a similar postcard in yesterday's (3/14/2011) mail - one side of the postcard has the Carnival logo and "Complimentary* 7 Day Cruise;"  The printed side of the card  has a presorted first class US Postage paid West Palm Beach FL Permit 919 "stamp," the Carnival logo and Olive Garden logo, stating "In celebration of our Anniversary in your area, You have been selected to receive a Complimentary 7 Day Cruise for 2 with an outside cabin, leaving from any major port in the U.S., including Galveston, TX.  Call with 72 hours.  You will also receive as a bonus Dinner for 2 at Olive Garden or Red Lobster."  Below my name and address it reads "We have been trying to contact you! (This is not a timeshare or land sale offer).  Toll Free: 1-855-813-4476 Monday - Friday 10am-7 pm, Saturday 10am-2pm CST."  On the left of the card, it reads:  Cruise Itinerary Galveston TX; Ticketing ID Confirmation Number, Name of Traveler, Port of Call 1, Port of Call 2, Port of Call 3."  Then follows Gift Fulfillment, P. O. Box 1449, Spring TX 77383.  And finally, in very fine print "Certain restrictions apply.  Call for details of participation.  This promotion is not sponsored by or affiliated with Carnival Cruise Lines, but they are a major supplier.  Deposits, processing fees, port charges and taxes are the responsibility of the recipient."  On the very bottom, there's "sample itinerary."
As stated by others, there is no company name anywhere on the card.
I live in Houston TX.
I knew this offer was to good to be true so I called Carnival Cruise Lines and was told by the representative that they did not have any offers like this now that she knew of.  She told me it was possible that this was a timeshare company but the post card stated otherwise!  She didn?t seem concerned about the Cruise logo on the card but did state that Carnival Cruise Line had nothing to do with it.  Not much help.  I googled  ?Gift Fulfillment?  didn?t see anything related to my situation.  I also googled the telephone number but not much luck finding anything out there either.  I then thought it was a bill collector or a number where money is charged for the call so I never called.  I finally googled the entire Gift Fulfillment, P. O. Box 1449, Spring TX 77383 info and came up with this page.
I'm glad I check it out on the internet before wasting my precious time and possibly getting scammed! I?m usually a victim of scams like these but not this time!  It was worth doing the research in advance! ?Fool me once, shame on you!.  Fool me twice, shame on ME!
I too will recycle this paper and put it to good use.
I wish this info. helps in putting an end to this scam, especially during an economical time like this!

They are still at it apparently, just got a postcard in the mail, with the US airlines logo, and the same offers as others wrote about.  Glad they were closed when I called, then I came and checked here.
This time the card says to call 1-877-5948610, and the "company" is: Gift fulfillment, PO Box 1449, Spring, TX 77383.

marketing companies going out of business sell their contacts to desperate or fraudulant marketing companies and arrange the people they contact to attend theese presentations, in return the companies that literally buy you for a 50 dollar fee to show up to their presentation have to still make enough sales to cover the over head of receiving 5-10 couples at 50 dollars a piece, so if you can imagine the scale that this has gone on for decades, explanation for boil room sales tactics!

i hope some of the people who RUN and WORK AT the companies that run these scams actually read the comments.   maybe their consciences can be awakened and they'll seek honest reputable work that would allow them to look at themselves in the mirror in the morning without seeing scum...

I'm not sure anyone is selling your info.  I got the same information and I don't have any airline tickets through Continental.    My concern is that we are now working through the Florida Attorney General on a vacation scam and the folks running that have a number of various names for various scams.  Our's was called "sun coast-vacation"  Perhaps you've heard of it and they run an address from many different states.  Watch yourself and buy nothing.  If you were to check the attn.Gen. of Florida (Bill McCollum) he has a list of the pending law suits he has and sun coast vacations is one of those.

Thank you for taking the time to post. I have learned the hard way in the past that you never get something for nothing, but in these challenging economic times it's tempting to pursue these "free" offers. I am glad you got some reimbursement for your hassle, and especially that you took the time to post about all of it to help keep others out of their net.

My card offered airline fare AND a $300 target gift card. Tempting, but now that I know the whole story I will just trash it and skip the headaches. You have definitely banked some karma, and what goes around will eventually come around for these shady operations.

Hello, all. I used to work for this place. I was leery going in, but I was pregnant and 19 years old and I needed a job. They assured me that it was just outgoing calls to give people the opportunity to go to travel seminars, sort of like time share companies do.
I worked there for about a month, I'm ashamed to say, and it just went from bad to worse. I'm a really shy person, and I couldn't make any appointments for the first week. I kept asking questions like, "What is a Rolex-style watch?", which is one of the possible door prizes people are eligible to win at the meetings. They told me that it was a watch equivalent to the Rolex in the way it looked, but not in value. They also told me to stop asking questions.
I also asked why I was calling people in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and trying to get them to travel to Annapolis, Maryland. At first, they didn't know what the problem was, thinking that since Virginia and Maryland border each other it was a quick trip. I've lived up there, and that's easily a five to seven hour drive. Then they told me to convince callers that it was worth the trip. Right.
Then, in training, they told us to milk our personal stories and explain to the people we were calling what we got for booking an appointment. They told me to tell people how I was a pregnant nineteen year old, scared for the future, and trying to build a life for myself, which was true. But they told all of the other girls to say the same thing!
The owner would frequently come by unannounced, and fly into a rage about our booking numbers. We were expected to continue to try to hook people while she was screaming like a loon in the background. Many times I'd just say, "Hi, my name is *******, and I'm-" and people would tell me that they couldn't hear me over the nonsense going on in the background and hang up. And rightfully so.
They had a shift starting at SEVEN IN THE MORNING, and a shift ending at TEN AT NIGHT, and we would have to call people, waking them up in the morning, waking up little kids by calling too late at night.. The last straw came when the owner approached me about adopting my unborn baby, and I declined as respectfully as I could. Two days later, I was fired. And I'm glad.
I'm ashamed to say that even as my suspicions were mounting with the people at this hole-in-the-wall (where people smoked, by the way, inside with me when I was eight months pregnant!), I stayed as long as I could, because I needed a job.
I want to apologize for my actions, to all of you, and please believe me that not all of the people calling you know that they are enticing you into a scam. They believe (like I did for the first three weeks) that they are just promoting a travel seminar, or things of that nature. And from what I understand, that telemarketing company isn't actually running the scams alone. There are companies that are legitimate who hire call centers like that to do the dirty work for them.
I can't believe the state of the world today. I really can't.

My wife and I were solicited by phone to attend a vacation presentation at Branson.   We were to receive discounted theatre tickets in exchange.   At the time we made the reservations, which involved THREE phone calls, both my wife and I stated that we have 2 children, ages 3 and 11, that would be with us.  We were told this would be fine.  When the confirmation email and policy emails arrived, the only thing in them about children was that 'children age 2 and under were not allowed'.   When we arrived for the presentation, we were told in an extremely rude manner by the manager, Dennis, that children were NOT allowed.   He picked up a piece of paper, started stabbing at it with his finger and shoved it into my wife's face.  I was about to make a rather unpleasant scene when my wife hustled me out of the lobby.   They had charged my credit card $73 for the tickets.  The tickets were canceled by the company and we were told we would be charged the remainder of the $412 for the tickets.  I called Chase immediately and disputed the charge and told them to deny any further charges.

These people are crooks!  Thieves, liars, crooks, conmen.
