This number is for CCS, a collection agency. They called on a Sunday evening and left a recorded message for my ex-husband.
Gil 2011-06-06 20:57:45 Unknown
I recieved a call from this number and message left was a call from CCS Collections acct # 090031683. When I called the girl Serenity stated that this was in reference to an accident, I have not had an accident in more then 20 years. It appears to me to be a scam call to get money out of me.

CCS has been calling me for 10 months looking for someone I have never heard of. I call them back, tell them the person does not live there, they apologize and state they will remove my number from their records, then proceed to call again a few weeks later. I have spoken with them at least five times yet they still call.

12/10/08 2:57pm/HST: I have received a call of this type a couple of times, and again today. I think it's been over a year now since the last. In any matter, I have no debt, and just purchased a house so I know my credit is fine. I have one, and only one, credit card and it's paid in full every month. This is obviously some scam and I think it's odd that though they tell you if you're not that person to call the same number so they can stop future calls, but then they proceed with directions for the intended person to log on and enter an account number the also give, what could potentially be, a stranger!(like number that Gil noted)

Keep getting calls constantly and no aswers. How rude! Cat help ya if you dont ever respond back.
Annoyed 2011-06-06 20:57:45 Unknown
I receive calls and they leave a message saying it's important and they are looking for me with my MAIDEN Name!!!
I haven't had that name in a long time - so if they are trying to reach me to collect on some debt that I am obviously unaware of, Good luck - cuz it has been more than 9 years (statute of limitations has expired)

They are all low life butt holes!!
maga 2010-02-08 19:16:10 Unknown
These people keep calling our house and no one is on the other line when we answer. They are very annoying!! We are elderly and sleep a lot of the time in the late morning and afternoon and they keep waking us up.
I don't know who they are but we don't owe anyone anything. It's the other way around--People OWE US money!!

The Do Not Call List is for telemarketers. Collection agencies are not telemarketers. If you have outstanding debt that has been forwarded to a collection agency, they are allowed to contact you via any number(s)/addresses that you provided to the original creditor including any other number(s)/addresses that they find for you. However, if they are harassing you, you should definitely report the agency and the representative that contacted you.
Keep in mind that harassment is not defined as someone calling you. Many people seem to want to define harassment as any phone call from any collection agency. Harassment is when the person is repeatedly contacting you with intentions to annoy you. There are collection agents that will do this because they figure you will just give in because you are annoyed or because you are scared. If the agent or agency is calling you a few times a week, it is not harassment.
Remember you can also send the agency a letter stating you do not wish to be contacted again because you do not owe the debt. Just keep in mind that you may receive another notice from them stating that they received your request and will cease communications. This does not mean that you no longer owe the money. What will usually happen is that it is handed back to the original creditor who will contact you directly or sent to another agency.

I have gotten all the same crap calls from this number. They used to leave a very long file number but never ever said who it was for. I don't owe anybody anything! I deleted the calls. Now they just call and stay on the line for about 45 seconds and then hang up! This usually happens 1 to 4 times a day. The BMG connection fits me too since my wife and daughter had it about 9 years ago. However we paid the bill and quit. Our statute of limitations is 6 years here and if there was some money owed it is long since gone away. However, if you agree you owe them money or stupidly send them a payment you do restart the time limitation. They CAN NOT force you to pay and they are NOT connected to BMG. They just bought the debt and are hoping enough idiots bend so they can make some money. It's illegal and unethical, but since when do these kind of people care about that?
I've take an active response. They are on my speed dial. I call them back about 6 times a day and then just set the phone on the side while the operator tries to talk to someone. I'm not sure if that's a smart move but I feel better knowing I'm annoying them off like they are me.

This company calls nearly everday starting at 7:55am. They leave a similar message and I finally called them to see what it is about. The gentleman told me that they have not been calling and that my account has been cancelled and not with them for nearly two years. He said it was an old Wachovia account. I worked for them and had an checking account with them for two months and closed it when I quit. I again told him I get calls 6 days a week. He said he would note my account??

these people are calling me claiming that I owe money to Columbia House. I have contacted Columbia House and they have no record of me ever having done business with them, which I never have.
So how does your reply effect me!
I pay my bills.

They call repeatedly and when I answer it hangs up on me....
Pete 2009-01-19 14:45:58 Unknown
It gives them a psychological advantage and the opportunity to pounce when you're at your weakest. Hitler did the same thing giving a speach. He would just stand there for half an hour or more while everyone was very quiet then suddenly burst into a loud, emotional speach. The telemarketers are just two bit amatures compared to Hitler but the motives are just the same, control.
anon 2009-01-19 14:30:17 Unknown
Don't you love it when telemarketers or collection agency's call you, then put you on hold when you answer. The stupidest thing I've ever heard. Don't call me and then put me on hold, call me with a live person and get to the point!

Please stop calling me if you cannot leave a detailed message on the machine. If I have Business with you then state it so I will know who you are, otherwise go "play in traffic".
Thanks

They seem to enjoy calling. So if they can reach me, they are welcome to talk to me. Until then they can keep calling...

that's just what they hope people will do. you have been ripped off! They buy old records of debt/bounced check/late payments, etc., and try to scare people into thinking they overlooked it and still owe it.
Obviously this place is a scam. A legit collection agency has to tell you who they are and why they are trying to collect. A real agency would be polite and professional. I've dealt with a bunch of these scammers and they tend to be threatening and rude and cut you off if you try to ask a question or tell them they're mistaken. You will still get some of these, even if you are on the DNC list because con men just don't care about that. if you manage to speak to a live person threaten to report them to your state atty. general and the FTC and see how fast they hang up and don't bother you again! Even then, you should still always check your credit record. Some of these people will either stop bothering you or make you think the matter is settled and then will file a false report on you anyway.

This number calls me every morning and I cannot find a way to actually speak to a person. The computer gives a ridiculously long ref. Number and a website. How can I stop it???
smith 2008-09-16 02:16:40 Unknown
i think you should just pay your bill instead of trying to get a company out of business. From what it sounds like your just trying to get out of your own mistakes. Im pretty sure you'll be filling bankruptcy pretty soon once the government receives enough calls from you. lol, any who, your probably the reason why the economy is so bad. maybe we should be reporting you.
smith 2008-09-16 02:07:05 Unknown
maybe you should tell your husband to pay their bill. have him call back and stop being so darn nosy. im pretty sure they didnt just make up the number from thin air, some company must have given out the number. and if you read the state laws and federal laws one of them is bound to tell you that you cant give information on an account without verifying who they are speaking with. if you had some sort of terminal disease and didnt want any one knowing you owed a hospital bill on it, im pretty sure you'd appreciate them verifying who they were speaking with

keeps telling me it is not a telemarking call and is for Emily Vargas--whoever that is. I have had this number for more than 2 years. I try to reject the calls, but they still come through. i called the 800 number and told them to remove my name from their list and they said they would. I will believe it when I see it.
Luke 2008-07-21 17:02:07 Unknown
Well, I recieved a call from tehm again, this time a live caller, he said he would remove my number from the database. New number though, listed below.

This company keeps calling and leaving the same message on my cellphone asking for a Rachel Reemer (sp unknown). I am given no option to speak with a live person, only press 1 if I am this person, press 2 if I need to get this person for the call, press 3 if this number is correct but this person is unavailable. I have been called daily for about a week now.
For what it's worth, I actually spoke with a company in Wisconsin about a year ago that this person apparently did business with, and explained I was not that person and didn't know the person. They apologized and never called again. I vaguely remember checking out this site during that time as well as I was getting called even then, and I'm curious to know why CCS has started calling again. Of course being unable to reach a live person, I guess I just have to grin and bare it.

Okay, this is so bogus--I think we did have a BMG account before it was officially called that, BUT, we paid it off a good 10 years ago, so these people have no case against us.
