Event Reminder
I had this charge on a credit card statement on an account that has long been unused.  Why did they do that?
It  was for AIC Sentinel 800-423-5166.

Correction:  CCS, not CCN.

When I stated I don't have a good feeling about how they operate, I mean the lack of website and basic information about them as an organization, and the use of my ssn as an ID (on the listing they sent).  Thankfully, they don't show the full cc #'s on the list they send, but I do wonder what type of security/controls they have over the data in their computer systems.  I'll just repeat that I've never had any problems with them in the past.

Just phoned the 800# on 6/19/2013 (really static-y connection, BTW) and got the same response as the previous commenter - no website, must mail back the updated printout listing of the credit cards, or phone in with the updates.  Scary because I noticed my member ID is a thinly disguised variation on my ssn.  My membership goes through Jan. 2014, but I've never gotten around to updating the list.  I've never had any issues w/ CCN in the past, but I don't have a good feeling about how they operate, and now I'm pretty sure I will cancel my membership before the January expiration.

To follow up on my comment above, I did call 1-800-423-5166 on 5/17/2011 and I did get connected right over to an agent, where I made a request to cancel the service.....it seems to have been done ok, but I am hanging onto the notice I received to make sure it is indeed cancelled and they do not try to bill on 6/23/2011 (which is when my service would have been renewed).

Everything may be legitimate with Credit Card Sentinel.....I do not know for sure.   What did make me nervous about the whole enterprise is that there is no web presence and it is even hard, with a Google search to come up with this company on the internet.   Having said that, I really cannot say that my interactions with them have been fishy....I got occasional correspondence, etc, and my cancel was done without question and professionally.   But I have just never been quite sure what is going on with them....it does look like they have changed hands over the years....I just ended up being uncomforatble with these orgs that have one's credit card numbers on-hand, with no real website URL presence.

It is the toll-free number for Credit Card Sentinel.....here is some other information:

http://www.bbb.org/chicago/business-reviews/c ... eam-il-88012165

But then, look also at this thread:
http://www.cardratings.com/forum/general-cred ... nel-t17111.html

I have some concerns about it because I cannot find a web site....I DID get a renewal notice on 4/15/2011, but I am probably not going to renew....but "they" are still out there somewhere....it just seems fishy to me that they do not have an established web site....I joined when they were associated with one of my credit cards (suggested) many years ago and they were in Canoga Park, CA...then that address vanished and they seem to now be in Illinois....it may all be ok, but I would like to see more of an online presence from them and there really is none....there are just references to them from other sites.
