This is NOT a viable call from US Bank. I have received several calls, both at home and at my business. I have verified with US Bank that this is NOT their number. Don't be fooled into giving your bank information to these scammers. Call your local branch directly for information account.

This IS a scam. Pretend to be US Bank, verify your name, then they tell you about some "charges to your account which were approved and/or denied", charges in 3 different states on the same day. They ask you to verify whether or not the charges are legitimate. I indicated (by dialing "1" they were not) and then hung up. I then called US Bank Card Member Services at number on back of my CC, they verified that there had been no such activity on my account, that their Fraud Unit was not checking anything regarding my account, and that this is a SCAM fishing for information. The US Bank Member Services Representative said this has been going on for several years now. Repeat, THIS IS A SCAM.

This really is USBank. I know because my card was declined. I called the number on the back of my card to see why my card was blocked, and the automated msg said they had left me a message. They left a message on my work number, though, so I didn't know until later.

Sorry folks but at least some of these calls are actually from US Bank. I got one this morning. I hung up and called the number on the back of my card (not the 800 number that was calling me). I spoke to Laura at US Bank customer service and she looked at my account and told me the call to me was actually legit-it was from them. She put me thru to their fraud department and I had to verify my last three charges. She told me they are getting so many bad charges that they are looking hard at everything and calling customers if there is any doubt. I told her I had thought it was a phishing call and that's why I called back on the card number. She said the bank wishes more people would do that-call back on the number on the card and verify-and not just assume everything is ok but not give out personal info when you really don't know who you are talking to.

I had a missed call from this number yesterday. Reading the above comments, this could have been US Bank. This morning, I tried to use my debit card and it was denied by the bank. I looked at the outstanding transactions on my account. There was a $2.46 charge at Aladdinhotel in Reno, PA. I knew it wasn't me and called US Bank. The person who got ahold of my card number tried to use it on six different transactions this morning. Luckily, they stopped them from hitting my account.

These posts are FULL of back and forth "it is it isn't" and there's no point in adding to it. At the end of the day, it's VERY possible it is legit for some, and a spoofed, scamming calls for others. I've received legit AND scam calls from different numbers and I too have been called a shill for BOTH. The ONLY advice I can give -everyone- is
ALWAYS CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.
Always.
It pays to be vigilant but not to always trust everyone you read online OR everything you're told over the phone. Trust yourself and do your due diligence.

It sounds like your post is just another scam trying to get people to call.

I got the same call today 9/25/2013.. I immediately thought it was a scam when I called the number back provided in the VM.. There was no mention of US Bank.. I called my local branch and gave her the number and she said it was not a scam and it was their automated number to their fraud area. She transferred me . to the fraud area and indeed their was unauthorized activity on my account. The date was 9/13/2013 for 2 different merchants for over $1000.. The merchants both places suspected fraud and would not authorize payment at either place and called US bank. Thus my call from them. Since neither transaction was approved I lucked out. I have to accredit US bank and those 2 merchants for catching the unauthorized purchases on my debit card. If you get a call from that number and a vm is left, don't call the number they give you, call your local bank and have them transfer you to the correct area. When ever a caller gives a number and you call it and it does not mention where they are calling from ( example the name of the bank), hang up and don't give any personal info but call your local bank and have them transfer you to the fraud department. You cant be too careful.

It indeed was real. Call your bank. Some scum bag was attempting to use a counterfeit copy of my debit card on the other side of the country.

They called and I waited and waited as I called back and put on hold when requested to give Zip code after phone number verification on the # they called. 8 minutes on hold and I gave up. I also checked this number with all the800 #'s US bank lists and it's not there. Also when you call back they do not announce USbank at all and just repeatedly say fraud provention through an automated service trying to get your info when you don't enter info and it trys 3 times.. it then goes supposedly to a live customer service agent. I then called USBANK and they in fact DID call me a number of times today about a suspicsious hotel charge which actually was legit... it just seems odd that they verify information up front on the call back without announcing USBANK or VISA as the co. doing it. and then no ability to verify WHO is verifying.. odd..

I got this call twice on a Saturday - on my work phone. I do not now and never have had a US Bank account. I don't use my work number as my primary account on any bank account. They did not leave a message. Contrary to the above, I find this highly suspicious.

DO NOT call this number. I have contacted them and they asked for a lot of information only to say my account was fine. I was not able to find this number (8004270459) on US Banks website and their fraud department confirmed that it is NOT their number. Now I have to set fraud alerts with all credit agencies. Always call your bank directly.

Said they were from the fraud dept. of my Yellowstone Park Check Card ending in 6599. None of my credit cards have these last four digits, nor do I have this particular card. So it is either a fraudulent call or somebody has opened a Yellowstone Park check card in my name. How do you know whom to trust? This card is not found on my credit report either.

This was legit found a charge in Phoenix yesterday at Kmart for $347. But to be safe always call the number on the back of the card to access fraud services.
timinoregon 2012-11-10 18:36:36 Unknown
since the number did not match any of my banks numbers, I thot this was hinky so I googled it and it turns out this number is hinky - beware - they did not get any of my information but it is weird they knew last 4 of my card - just to be safe I ordered a replacement card
Patrick 2012-10-19 13:40:50 Unknown
I got a call like this as well. Called the number on the back of my US Bank card because of this site...and it was infact true. Someone had been trying to charge my account. Thankfully they blocked the charges and are issuing a new card to me. It doesn't hurt to call the number on your card and verify.
Truth 2012-08-02 14:14:35 Unknown
It's sort of pathetic that the same person is operating multiple "_____ Alert" accounts and trolling people. Grow up, kid.
The call is legit. Call your main bank number or a local branch and confirm the issue with them. This just happened to me yesterday as I was unable to make any charges on my check card. That's going to be the first sign that something is wrong. US Bank will deny the fraudulent charge(s) and provide a brand new check card for you.
Do not take this with a grain of salt. If you get this call, chances are something is amiss.
