who are they

I received a charge on my account with this number listed as the reference.  I am not sure how my information was compromised, but I immediately changed my numbers when I found out.  Anyway, I plan to dispute the charges tomorrow with my bank.

I just noticed this charge too. I will be at my bank today about it.  I will print out all of the notes on this page too to show my bank.   I hate this. Glad I check my nearly daily too.

$9.80 was charged to my visa acct without my approval.  Phone number belongs to something called IPS, which, according to my card issuer, is an information service.

They got me too.  I saw this $9.80 charge on my credit card and looked up my financial software to see whether it was a charge I forgot.

I just called the phone and got the voicemail that I have reached IPS inc. blah blah.

I just happened to be reviewing my bank account online when I came across a charge of $9.80 from IPS Inc in CA with the 800-431-7428 number.  I have no idea who they are so I called the number and it said to leave a message.  I immediately hung up and googled the phone number.  It came up with a ton of posts from people who said this was a fraudulent charge and that when you do leave a message, you end up with a second charge.  I called my bank and had my debit card cancelled ASAP.  They are crediting my acct.  I have read that this might have something to do with Limewire.  I just removed it from my programs.  I wish there was a way to get these scumbags!

I just saw a $9.80 charge on my account today. Cards were cancelled immediately. This is ridiculous.

Wow! Am I glad I googled this number. Happened to me too. I called a couple of times. Thankfully it WAS only $9.80, but $9.80 can over draw an account too.

I got this charge on my bank card credit card.  All I own is a cell phone.  I know I didn't get a call from this number on my cell, and I have nothing to do with AOL.  What can I do for this?

If anyone figures out who it is and where to report them, please let me know.  I'm w/out a debit card for 2 weeks b/c of these a-holes.  Also the BBB, but we have to find out who it is!

inre to my previous entry dtd 30 Aug - I followed up w/a trip to my bank regarding my visa check card and the $9.80 charge from these  ba______ at this so called IPA company.  I was informed that back in Feb I was notified by my bank that my CC # was in a batch of #'s that had been compromised by hackers.  I had forgotten about this since at that time no charges appeared.  These b*****ds waited and slipped in this little charge hoping not to be noticed.  I hope they enjoy it while it lasts.  Terri

My CC was just billed for $9.80 by IPS, CA, 800-4317428, supposedly advertising company. They only have a voice mail at that phone number. I have no idea how  they got my CC# but this is definitely fraud. Judging from other victims, they blatantly defraud victims at random. Is there an agency to report these m....r f....rs?

The same thing happened to me.  I noticed a $9.80 charge on my bank account from phone number 1-800-731-7428, out of CA, that was in the pending mode yesterday, Sept. 6th.  Today, the 7th, it posted. Called the bank and had to file a claim and cancel cc.

I am in Las Vegas, NV and also got this charge, $9.80!!!  Who the hell are these people?

I got a charge on my CC from IPA in CA with the listed phone number of 1-800-431-7428.  I called the number, but just got the voicemail.  I called my CC company and had the charge reversed.

I received the 9.80 charge on my check card. Am currently disputing it thru my bank.  Have to cancel current cc and receive new one. What a hassle.  AOL should be held responsible for this mess.

i work in a bank so i am all over my accounts every day & this one showed up as a check card hold then finally posted today. its an account i rarely use and i dont use it to pay bills or anything. on the phone now with employee services for my bank canceling the card and trying to get the money refunded.

Same thing just happened to me.  Had I used the account frequently I may have never noticed but it happened to be an account that I do not use.  Called the number received a machine.

This just happened to me on a bank account that I only use to write a check on maybe twice a year.  I have never used a CC with the account.  I don't know how anyone could get this info.

It happened the same (an unknown charge of $9.80) to my CC account and I only provided Yahoo this CC to automatically pay for my Web Hosting service.

Add another to all of this. The recording all of it. Im glad I stumbled upon this because I was pulling my hair out. I called my bank, we're in the process of disputing this stupid charge. I have no earthly idea how my info was grabbed. Ugh greedy a** people, and thief's.

Same bogus charge showed up on my statement.  Last time this happend it was a test charge by a scammer before they sold my cc number and I had a nightmare of dealing with fraudulent charges.  I cancelled this card and ordered a replacement, I am not going through this again.

The same thing happened to me I noticed yesterday, I never got a call but noticed this on my bank statement, and have no idea how they got my info.

I also got a charge of 9.80 from this number, we should take these jerks to court!  Find out Who it is and make him PAY!

Same here. I got a charge yesterday for $9.80 from IPS; I called the phone no. and a machine answer. How in the hell they got my cc no., I don't know. I'm canceling the cc.

and I can't figure out what it is for.  I don't have a clue
as to if someone called me from this outfit because I almost
always hang up on these sales calls as soon as I figure out
it is not one of my legitimate customers.

Same story here.  I called the number at various times and you always get a recording sending you to voicemail.

Same here.  I got two charges on my credit card reversed by calling the card company but when it happened this time, the rep connected me to the number and I got a crappy voicemail message.
I'm calling the card company back.
