If someone puts you as an emergency contact when they book their flight, this number will call you with delay information or change of flight information.  I just got a call but knew that my mother was flying today and that is what it was in reference to.

I think you're on to something. I noticed that many of the nuisance calls were late night/very early morning, which would be daytime hours in China. I received a call on my work cell, which I very rarely give out the number for, no message left. Somehow these scammers are using this number as their caller ID. What REALLY concerns me is that they already seem to have some info on people they call, such as last 4 of cc # & home AND cell#'s, & planned flights that either don't  involve AA, or that AA has no record of having called. Perhaps someone should notify Homeland Security about this security breach.

It is actually American Airlines. They called about a flight cancellation that a sibling of mine was supposed to take. Needless to say that sibling moved some years ago and never updated their contact info.

Assuming that you had a flight with AA that was canceled, they do have the right to contact you. But you need to contact them directly about this matter. Posting here has no effect on the phone calls you receive.

This number belong to American Airlines. It would appear that a sibling of mine never updated their phone number after they moved over 5 years ago.

This was a legit call for me.

American Airlines called to notify me that both of my connections had been cancelled. They rebooked me and gave me my new flight information.

They did NOT ask for any banking or personal information, just my "locator" number.

Not sure why some are getting scam calls/emails.

Received two calls to my cell at 345 AM on Monday February 17 from this number. When I answered the line was silent.

Each time I called back it was an automated AA system discussing the recently announced AA United merger. Then gave me option to look up my flights.

Moments later, my landline received the same call, same silent line. When I *69, I got this 1800 number.

I called back and spoke to AA who had no record of the glitch and couldn't explain the calls. I am not flying anytime soon so it makes no sense.

So scary.

Received a call from this number (indicated as "American Air" on my caller ID) at 3:22am. I do not have a flight with any airline booked right now, nor have I ever flown with American Airlines. Definitely not legit.

Please stop giving me flight info, my flight was yesterday.  This message keeps repeating.  I find it annoying.  I will never sign up for flight messages again.

This is a valid number for American Airlines flight notifications.  If you have ever signed up for notifications, they may already have your number.  My call this morning was valid for a flight delay.

Received a phishing scam email, reportedly from American Airlines- showing that I paid for two tickets for two women with Russian sounding names. There was this phone number to call to confirm.
Believing the whole thing to be a scam, I did not click on anything, reported it as a scam to American Airlines, and did a Google search which brought me to this page.
It is a scam- give No information and by all means don't click on any hyperlinks

If I was more paranoid I would wonder if this is a purposeful ruse by some Russian entity to bilk westerners out of billions of dollars.

Prank Call
Have received two calls from this number in the past few days. No message, no response. I answered and let it run and it was just silent. Weird. My guess is someone is masking their caller id using this number (normally an AA #) for some other purpose. Next time I'll let it go to voicemail and see what it says.

American airlines called my home at 6:30 am on a Saturday morning to tell me of a departure time change for a flight I'm not on, nor did I sign up for notifications.  Needless to say I'm quite annoyed.   As far as I can tell there's no way to stop AA from calling as there's no way to cancel notifications that someone else set up.

Apparenlty AA doesn't verify phone numbers so someone can enter anyone's phone number in for notification.

Very Strange...Got a message saying they were AA and my flight from San Fran to Chicago for the following day (26+ hours later) was delayed 1 hour.  The flight wasn't even started yet, how would they know it was late 1 hour?

Thing is, that flight is with United, NOT AA.  Someone knows I have a flight booked, but apparently doesn't know which airline it is with.

Also, somehow they got my unlisted, unpublished home phone number, which I have never given to either AA or United.

This message regarding a message from "CHADBOURN HAWLEY" is most likely a phishing attempt to get personal information. Delete it. I also received the identical message with different four VISA digits. From the message properties, the return path is notify-at-aa-dot-globalnotifications-dot-com, but message properties state that it's really routed from a Brazil address. They really want you to click the "www-dot-aa-dot-com" link which is routed to whatever phishing site the sender is using at the time. The message sent to me routes to a site in Hong Kong.

I got the same email, but my spam filter rejected it. I inspected it anyway because it was different.

The only thing different between mine and yours is the credit card number shown (the last four digits anyway), and in my case, the number was correct. I rushed onto my credit union website and checked and there was no such transaction thankfully.

I agree, I think it's a tease to try to get you to call in and give up some personal information.

I also got an email confirming a preferred seat booking for some one I don't know & on a credit card that I don't recognise (had to check them all). I think this is to get me to follow the link - or phone back & query then give out my personal details.

Received a voicemail from American Airlines Reservations on a flight I had on HOLD to let me know of a flight change.  I'm glad they called because I was going to book it tonight but the new flight they put me on will not work for me as it gets me back home too late (10:00pm vs. the 4:30pm I reserved).

OK, following up -- there was no message left at all but then 20 min. later the airline announced that there was indeed a flight delay. You'd think they'd have left a message as long as they bothered calling me!

How can some of these be legit and others seem like a scam??? I'm at the airport waiting to board in one hour for an American flight so it could certainly be legit -- yet so many others here talk about theses calls being a bit weird.... Anyway, no message left yet, and I didn't answer.
