They called me about my friend, calling him an associate of mine. They exposed his business to me and tried to get me to verify his contact information. This seems like an illegitimate business practice.

Got a call this morning from this number. A woman named Ashley was trying to get in touch with my neighbor, but didn't say why. She wanted me to go and put a note on my neighbors door for her! I'm glad I looked this number up online first. Yeah right, I'll get right on that for you, Ashley.

They left a message on my phone regarding a family member, and so little info, I became worried something bad had happened, so I checked on said family member and looked up the number. Some people are saying they're going by General Revenue Corp. Also found they sometimes go by the name "Texas Guaranteed Student Loan" under this number? Either way, they should not be calling friends and family to collect other peoples' debts. It's pretty scummy.

Got a call from this number saying my daughter's name was given as a reference contact for someone neither of us had ever heard of.  I looked them up online & found they are a collection agency for defaulted student loans. We haven't had any student loans & don't know the person they referred to.  They also called my work number. I'm wondering how they got both my cell & work number.  I put the number on a reject list on my cell phone.

These jerks keep calling new cell phone. I explain that I just got this number and there is NO Cindy here. Please do not call as it uses up my minutes. Just a back up phone for emergencies and no one but my doctor has it.  Glad to see I'm not alone.
They sure are pesky.

Do Not Call does not apply to collections, only telemarketing.  Still a pin in the butt though - I don't think most people know that.

You know what - we aren't all as fortunate as you - I am sure you are fantastic & this company is great.  If they were that legitimate, they would leave a nice business message stating who they are, what they are calling about & the number, not some cryptic message with a  reference#.  There also would be not be posts about them hanging up or disconnecting.  By the way, I will let them know you are leaving delightfully condescending messages on these sites.  Oh yeah...my student loans are not all paid back - I don't blame it anyone else & have a pretty damn good career, plus a buddy with 2 degrees working at Home Depot you pompous a**!

Burger King is hiring? And you expect this is the sort of gainful employment that will allow a college graduate to begin repayment on their student loan? Hahaha. Did you take out students loans? I would be fascinated to learn what sort of employment screening goes on for people in your position. What's your background like? What sort of personality type do companies like Texas Guarantee look for? Narrow, compliant, insecure people with serious class-anxiety and no student loan debt? I'm just wondering. And I'm sure you're just doing your job, making that money while you sit on your a** in a call center all day, but you do know you're working for a company that profits off of other people's debt, right? "Grow up and take care of your responsibilities?" That's your advice to the millions of people who are in default on their student loans? You do realize that student loans are THE riskiest type of lending there is, right? I mean, there's a reason lenders lobbied to make student loan debt exempt from bankruptcy. They KNOW it's an enormous risk. People take out $100,000 loans, with know guarantee of gainful employment upon graduation. We're in a recession. "If you couldn't pay it back you shouldn't have taken out the loan"? I'm sure if you just think about that statement for a second you'll realize the flaw in your logic.

I never took out a loan - and I don't know the person they claim they are looking for. And I'm still being harassed. So guess your little "advice" doesn't apply to everyone getting annoying calls from this "company".

Guess Who can eat my a$$. It's called LIFE. Things don't always go according to plan. Even if someone DID take out a student loan at one time, then lose the ability to pay it back due to, oh let's say CANCER or some other disease there is STILL NO EXCUSE for calling to harass that person.
And if you have no human sense of compassion, then look at it logically. You can't get blood from a stone. If someone doesn't have the means and probably won't for the remainder of their life, the collector is spinning their wheels - wasting their company's resources.
And if all else fails, look at from a legal standpoint. There are rules, regulations, and laws. They need to follow them or close their doors.
I am sick of all these self-righteous ignoramouses posting about what everybody else SHOULD be doing. Live a day in my shoes, you asshats. THEN you can tell me what I SHOULD be doing. Until then, stick you head back up where it belongs and stay away from keyboards.

It is a defaulted student loan debt collection agency. However, when a student loan is defaulted, depending on the amount, it is separated among several different agencies by Texas Guaranteed. They do not hold the loan, which is bad because they are the ones who call you countless times asking for money.

I was unaware of this until I contacted the Department of Education about it. I found out that after consolidation of my loans, $5,000 was left out of the consolidation. I was informed by Texas Guaranteed that they are NOT the loan holder, but they seek payment anyway. I found two other debt companies that were actually holding the two defaulted loans (after the split). Texas Guaranteed still calls asking for money. I am in a loan rehabilitation program with two different loan debt companies who actually gave me the appropriate information about my debt and my loans are now out of default.

BE CAREFUL, YOU WILL GET IN TROUBLE IF YOU DON'T GET INFORMED.

So when you call me for the last 4 years over and over for a guy that is not me, and each time I tell you that it is not who you are looking for please remove my number from your list each time you tell me I'm sorry this is the forst time I have called and hang up on me. And guess what sir Guess Who... a month later I get a call from you again, and today guess what a call from you again.
I have been polite to you until today and would be willing to be nice and helpful in all I can but thats hard to do when I am hung up on. And today I call to get a manager and I leave a message but if I don't get a call soon to fix this you guys are going to be the ones looking for jobs to pay your debts, I have been in your spot and was always sypothetic to those in mine but it seems you don't understand customer service at all. Know your place, you may collect debts but your just a phone jocky and at anytime could end up being one of us who owe nothing to a company but are harrassed daily for someone else's debt.

I am on the National Do Not Call Registry.  Yet, they keep calling and harassing me.  Dont know whether its a debt collector or telemarketer.  Yet, I just started school and they call me, i dont have any debt and not just that, they call me on my work cell phone and if they keep doing it, i will lose my job.  They have called me 3x a day at least all week and they are becoming an issue of harassment.

This number started calling me and I answered. They are a student loan collection agency. I was very nice and surprisingly (after reading everything people have written) the gentleman calling me was very nice too.

What I learned from this is because I answered right away, was polite, and was ready to work out a payment plan right away the gentleman was understanding of my situation and we came to a compromise. I think my advice is to answer the phone and deal with the situation.

For those of you who are getting calls that getting these calls IN ERROR (as opposed to those who do owe actually money), get their name, company, and the company's phone/fax (all the information you can) and then tell them that if they persist in calling you will turn them in on a consumer complaint to the FTC for non-adherence to the Fair Credit & Collections Act.

Here is the website to make the complaint:   https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

Note that this is a LONG survey, but it is worth the trouble.  Hope this helps.

they all 10 times a day....the comment on here about you should not have taken the loan if you couldn't pay it back...some of the schools out there are bogus bs why would you pay it back when the whole loan was a scam.? you can send in mounds and mounds of paperwork they still want their money even when they know you were ripped off and never got an education.
