I have been missing calls daily, and it becomes a real pain to erase a blank message from voicemail every day.  I found out it was Bank of America, so I called the number back.  It was an automated message where you can place your name on all of BofA's DO NOT CALL lists.

"They" call every single morning about the same time. My answering machine picks up and they never leave message, which I'm guessing is because it is an automated call. Any way to get it stopped?

They could just be innocent telemarketers in some cases.  My other suspicion is that BoA has contracted out their security to some company whose sole job is security/background-checking BoA customers and are calling to verify that your name matches with your phone number (plus, gleaning any other info).  I say this because if you notice, the very first thing they are intent on getting is your name - without identifying who they are or introducing themselves - and then they sometimes hang-up.  My 0.02.

This is Bank of America trying to sell insurance products.  Call the number back and there are easy instructions about how to get on the Do Not Call List.

If your number is registered with the government site DONOTCALL.GOV then you can report them to that site and they get a fine for each phone call...hit em where it hurts...in their pocketbook.

If your number is registered with DONOTCALL.GOV you can report their calls and they get fined for each call. If they start getting fined perhaps they will drop this annoying way of trying to drum up business

We recieve some days as many five calls from this number.  They are very insistant.  They won't take "NO" for an answer.  Please remove our name and phone number off their  call list

We get calls from this number hourly in the afternoon just about every weekday. Today, for abouth the 5th time I answered the call and was quite animated that these calls cease of I would be in touch with the FCC.

About 75% of our daily calls is this number. It's so aggrevating to see it's a toll free number. I do not need any more INSURANCE!

This is an automated service from Bank of America offering insurance coverage (the only thing I dislike about my service from them are these calls!).  In order to be placed on their Do Not Call List, you must call the number, then listen to the instructions on how to do this.  It does not take long, but be sure not to hang up just a s soon as you input your phone number!  This is only the first step, and they give a few seconds pause at this point, and whether intentional or not, it serves them in that that some people will think that this is all they must do to be registered on the DNC List!  Stay on the line once you input your phone number for further instructions!

Once you have filed to be on the DNC List, you must wait 30 days.  Once those days have passed along, if they continue to call, you may be able to file a legal complaint, so keep records of when they occur!  To find out if and how to file such a complaint (and to find a wealth of additional help with other privacy issues), go to:

For everyone upset about the hangups, remember, this is an automated service.  It dials on its own, as it was programmed to do, and only connects to a live operator when a person responds by answering the phone.  The ONLY thing that will prevent this from occurring is by placing yourself on the DNC List, where an employee of BOA (or its hired affiliate) is supposed to see that those numbers recorded are actually removed.  Thirty days is more than a fair amount of time to see that this is done, as those of us who've suffered through those twice daily calls for that following 29 days can well attest.  Once that 30 day period has passed, though, be sure to keep a good record of any further calls you may get from this service, including the date and time.  It it possible to then file a complaint against them, with a financial judgment based upon the actual number of violations that can be shown to have occurred.  If you are really upset about this, go to the following website and read what they have to say- and teach- about how to deal with these sorts of pesky callers, paying especial attention to section 6, on how to file a legal complaint:

I get at least two calls a day from this outfit. To my knowledge I have never been a customer of theirs. What gives them a right to circumvent both state and federal no call lists?

Received numberous calls also from this number. Called back per james and placed my phone number on the DO NOT CALL list- BOA states that it will take 30 days to be removed from list-OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

Gave a call back and placed my number in their "Do not call" list and to remove my number from their system, since it is an automated call from a computer. It states that it takes 30 days to be removed and they will continue to call 2 or 3 times a day for that entire 30 days!!! Be Aware!!! My 30 days is not up yet so we will see if they will stop calling after that!!!
