Similar message on my phone, as stated above.  They knew the kind of CC I had, which is seldom used, and always paid promptly when I DO use it, but I did use it two days ago, for airline ticket, purchased through Travelocity.  I kept listening to the long message and at the end it automatically connected/redialed to a live person.  He asked for last 4 digits of card and last 4 digits of my SS.  I asked, who are you calling - no answer, he kept talking.  I said I wasn't going to give that to him, and he responded, "if you are not comfortable giving me that information, please contact the number on the back of your CC."  All very polite and seemingly legit.  I called my CC and they said NO ONE from their company had called me.  The balance on my card was as accurate/expected, just one charge, that of the airline ticket.  The rep. said this is not uncommon Phishing, or Fraudster-ing.  I am soooo glad I did not give out more info - I had been uneasy about even HAVING that CC.

It was not a scam.  They knew you had a Visa or MC and wanted to offer you a better rate than what have wiht the Credit Union.  I do not think they can becase they are hight rate interest card.

HSBC screwed me out of $3000 and I am still fighting them.  So they call telling me they can lower my interest rate.  How about giving me back the $3000 you took

Called saying they were from "cardholder services" for my VISA or MasterCard and that they could lower my interest rates.  I knew it was a scam because I hold one credit card with no balance, and it comes from my credit union.  The man was fairly hostile and insisted that they could negotiate interest rates for any VISA/MasterCard because they worked with all of the banks.  Yeah, right.  I told him that I thought they were a scam and that I wanted a return number.  It didn't match the number on Caller ID.  I am also on the Do Not Call list (for years now), and I've gotten this call a few times.
