Get a call from this number approximately once a day. Never speak when we answer.

I read somewhere that this is a Comcast call. The company is a marketing company hired by Comcast.

I keeping getting called from telestar (800-331-6257) and get hang-ups. This has happened 2 days in a row 4 calls in total. I'm on the DON'T CALL list.

This number is from Comcast's "Teleresponse " , an automated thing that wants your name , address and phone number and any comments you have about Comcast. I gave them my information and told them to stop calling and that I didn't want any more calls from Comcast, they are a pain in the neck and their repair men make work for themselves. Call the number and tell them to stop calling and whatever other complaints you have. Comcast is getting very pushy because Verizon is coming to many areas.

I've been getting a call from this company every day around the same time, pretty annoying. I answered today and hung up. I'm going to try calling the number back and see if they have and opt out option.
Dave 2011-06-06 20:57:51 Unknown
I've received calls from this number almost daily, at various times of the day beginning from 8 a.m. to as late as 8:45 p.m. I've filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry for whatever possible good it may do.

This is a general message, along the same lines as private number, but with it being a business of some sort for it to say private would be considered "deceptive" so instead it now shows up as "800 service". These could all be many different companies and Comcast is stuck with having actually registered 800 service.
dan 2010-05-12 22:40:51 Unknown
This is a general message that pops up on certain unknown callers. Its not actually anyone specifically other then someone with a permanently blocked phone number. It is not just comcast, cox, verizon, its a general message.

I got a call from them as they kept trying to push some Comcast deal on me. I told them I prefer to talk to comcast about it. Amazingly the operator tells me, "Oh, I dont know if Comcast is aware of this offer." I called Comcast the next day. What a surprise, they had no idea what I was talking about. Just a hint, they are phising for your credit card numbers!!

I have comcast digital voice. I tried to block this number but it wont let me. Very odd as I have blocked specific numbers previously sucessfully. So I guess since they represent comcast that comcast has disabled this feature from blocking this number????
Needless to say I will be cancelling my comcast digital phone service.... and you know what while I am at it I will cancell all of the premium channels and just get basic service. And then check out direct tv. I need their high speed internet but I sure as hell dont need their phone or tv..
take that comcast!!!

Since I am now receiving phone calls from this number numerous times daily, I called this number and listened to Telstar's voice recorded message. They conduct campaign information on behalf of Comcast. I then called Comcast and told them to remove me from their call list. I also told Comcast that I am on a "do not call" list and that I find these numerous calls harassing since my husband works from home in his office where my phone that they're calling rings all day long. I told Comcast that if I receive enen one more phone call that I would drive down to court and issue a summons for harassment. I also stated to them that I repeatedly filed a complaint on the "Do Not Call" website. I also filed a complaint with NJ Department of Consumer Affairs. I also stated that I will cancel my account with Comcast if they ignore my request to be taken off their call list. I should not have had to have taken so many actions, but unfortunately it was necessary.

Why would you ever put your home number on the internet???

I am yet another victim. I have just started getting these calls. I never pick up for numbers I don't know, so I haven't answered their call. And they don't leave messages. I just got two calls from them within two hours of each other. I wonder if I am not on some list and will get multiple calls every day. Great. I am going to look at my Comcast privacy notices. Thanks for the tips everyone. It's funny that all the posts here are a year old. I am just glad that this info is available online.

Also getting daily, annoying calls from 800-470-5943. After contacting Comcast, I was told I could not "opt out" of these telemarketing calls; instead, I was referred to this service: "Anonymous Call Rejection".
I've copied and pasted the info to use this feature below:
What is Anonymous Call Rejection and how do I use it with my Comcast Digital Voice® service?
Anonymous Call Rejection announces to callers who block the display of their name and number that you are not accepting blocked calls and instructs them to unblock their information and dial you again.
To use Anonymous Call Rejection:
Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Press *77 and listen for a confirmation tone that the feature has been activated.
To cancel Anonymous Call Rejection:
Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
Press *87 and listen for a confirmation tone that the feature has been canceled.
Hope this helps!

Comcast, if you are testing the system, and with all your telephone technology, you can at least put something like "Comcast" show up on the caller ID, or better yet, something like "ComcastTest". WHen you just leave a number, and in fact I dont even know for sure if it was Comcast, it could have been anyone and everyone.

Im probably the last person on earth anyone wants to f*** with.
So I just dish it out but many fold. At 3am , I will make some courtesy calls to whomever I wish and not say a word, why? , because its leagally binding. As far as im concerned any number in the book is fair game since its obviously not on a do not call list. If I have to get up out of my chair, and answer a call, breaking my peace of mind, then I can only pass it on since thats how it goes they tell me. And Comcast, you and all your employees can go to hell, I dont have a job, and I dont f*** with people like you do.

Bob 2008-06-19 14:43:00 Unknown
Same thing here. I answer and the line goes dead. We do have Comcast digital voice, that seems to be a common theme with this number calling

wtb 2008-05-28 15:37:39 Unknown
remember they are allowed to call, in spite of being on the do not call list, if you are a Comcast customer

Numerous attempts to contact me, no name under caller ID

This comes up as 800 Service on my Caller ID. I also have do not call activated.

I received a call from this number on 1/3/08 at 10:00 a.m. I guess they are figuring out that they need to call at a reasonable time. I have been on the do not disturb list for several years. Thanks for the advice about demanding total privacy. the challenge is that once you agree on a contract term with these companies - you are stuck until your contract ends.
But this is now giving me a reason to be much more careful.

We get several calls from this # too. Also just hang-ups. I cannot imagine how they are generating revenue by hanging up on folks???

I am receiving multiple calls a day for the past several weeks. I know it is Comcast and since I am a subscriber to their service, the caller, TeleStar Marketing, representing Comcast, is technically exempt from the Do Not Call registry. Thank God for caller ID. If I don't recognize the number and no message is left, that call will never reach me.
Eric 2007-11-21 14:48:08 Unknown
I'm also getting these calls.
