I just got this "2nd attempt" piece of lying scam mail about a fake car warranty, and I am going to wreck the crooked scumbags that sent it, the criminals that like to prey on people for their own gain. The phone number on this "official" looking junk mail is 1-800-335-1522, and BELIEVE ME, I am going to put that number to very, very good use. Heh heh.

Just so you all know. I got one of these too and am 99% certain they got my name from Wells Fargo. We recently refinanced and ever since we've been getting a ton of offers for insurance of all types.

Don't know if would go as far as calling this a scam, more like high pressure sales for a product of dubious value.

Dear Me.  Are you serious?  Why would you take so much time to defend a company that you don't have any affiliation with?  Do you not have any better way to spend your time?  These people are serious and they are trying to help people, all people of all ages.  Why would you be concerned?

They got my info from Honda warranty mailing list. I called just to tell them off. They want you to buy bogus warranty, not good anywhere. But the wording on the postcard they sent me is a dead giveaway; I guess only the ill-informed and the elderly would fall for it.

Very creatively worded & deceptive junk mail for an extended auto warranty that is not worth the paper it is printed on. From "Vehicle Administration Center" or corporate title of NAVISS, LLC of Missouri. This masterpiece was undoubtedly crafted by some thieves and then rubber stamped by their corrupt attorneys to target individuals who let their guard down and open their wallets. Looks like they may be targeting older people for some fast cash. I fit in that demographic.

DON'T GET SUCKERED IN PEOPLE! Check out the reputation these extended auto warranty companies have by doing some research on the web! Visit the Missouri Attorney Generals office website on these fraudsters.

Why would anybody purchase anything, no matter how good it sounds, if the letter does not give a web site and according to the info on my letter does not accept a national charge card. In other words WHY?

I got the "2nd attempt" mailing everyone else seems to get. Underneath "2nd Attempt" it says "Chevrolet" which led me to believe this notice was from Chevrolet. It just so happens I know Don Hewlett one of the largest Chevy dealers in Texas. This will be making its way to GM's lawyers. They'll have a field day over the way their trademark is being misrepresented.

Here is what you need guys.

I did a blog post on these guys here
http://privacology.com/wp/the-choice-of-choice-is-still-elusive/

The company starts with these guys who owns the product
http://www.efgcompanies.com

When I sent a postal opt out to them they told me they aren't the DB owners, but only the product offer. in their letter I was given 1-877-838-3322 ext. 8703 to call them back on which I did. From there I asked them for a contact number to contact the DB owners and was given 314-447-3538. When I called that number, I asked her for a postal address and she gave me

P.O Box 28248
St Louis Mi 63132

but supposedly doesn't have a web address or other contact.

From there I was able to find VSC Administration Center at this address on google
10176 Corporate Square Dr Ste 240
Saint Louis, MO 63132

From there it was owned by NAVISS LLC http://www.navissdirect.com/privacypolicy.html#OptOut

Almost everything to have contact wise is hidden, but some sleuthing you can get it.

Hope this helps!

I was dumb enough to purchase warranty but cancelled within a month in Jan. 2013. Have called an called asked for my prorated refund since March 2013. I'm given same lies over and over. Reported to BBB and Naviss told them check would be processed and mailed July 31, 2013. Never received it. Called in August and Naviss gave me the check #8822 and amount of check and it would be mailed Aug. 15, 2013. It's now August 24, 2013 and no check. Has anyone else being given that check number ? Their representatives are all trained to say the same thing nothing but lies.May the Lord reward them for their wicked ways!!!!!

So, after a little digging around, I found additional information about these scammers that keep sending me spam mail about my vehicle service contract with no return address and just the phone number 1-800-335-1522. Turns out these mailings are coming from a giant shell corporation scheme (countless associated phone numbers, doing business as names, etc.) with a large history of fraud and abuse.

Your name and address was sold on a list.  Think back, where did you buy the car?  Did you have a Sirius Radio installed or turn on the Sirius Satellite Service?  Did you take your car in for a quick oil change at a Midas or something?  Did you purchase tires or a battery at Sears?  Any place that you went that touched your car and got your name and address put you on that list and you were sold.  Did you purchase something on the internet for your car?  DMV could even be selling your name or an employee from any one of these companies that have your information could take it and sell it.  I had an employee that we fired for writing down names and addresses and making photo copies of my company?s records so he can use it at his other job to sell people insurance.

Get this, they got our name and address because my husband works for a dealer. He gets a demo car to drive and he called to turn on the Sirius Satellite Radio. The warranty company is trying to sell us a warranty for a car he drove over a year ago. It was never registered in his name.  And the only thing that ties him to this car was Sirius Satellite. He gets a new demo every 3,000 miles.

Eric H.  You're absolutely correct!

I think Mr. ?ME" has been really burnt by a dealer or he thinks the repair bills are padded. People just don't realize how expensive it is to repair a car; costs for everything have gone up.

I understand and most of us know that there are BAD car dealers out there as well.  But you have to read the reviews on DEALER RATER.com. And not every dealer is a rip off. Average folks think that paying $4000 for a warranty is ripping you off.  But if you don't have coverage you can end up having a repair that may be even over $4000 after the original warranty has expired. My husband's dealer has fixed cars that were under warranty that other dealers have told their owners it wasn't under warranty. There are dealerships that refuse to work on your car if you didn't purchase it from them.  Most people don't realize that dealerships make money selling and fixing cars.  They are not part of the manufacturer, they work alongside the manufacturer.  If the car needs something under warranty, the warranty person has to get approval from the manufacturer and then the dealer can get paid for the item under warranty. The dealer is only as good as the person working in that position.  Dealers have to get approval and do the work in order to get paid either by the owner of the car or the manufacturer or the warranty company. And the dealer and it's workers have to know and understand what is covered under manufacturers warranty and the warranties they sell which in my husbands dealer its an extended warranty from the manufacturer which is actually better if you think about it, cuts out the middle man, saves money and more is covered.

My husband works for a reputable car dealer and SEVERAL of our neighbors have purchased cars from his dealership. Our first neighbor purchased a warranty and they were glad they did. They got 2 free tires, a head light was covered and something else, that I can't remember, I'm not a mechanic, but it saved them a lot of money.  That is why we have SEVERAL neighbors that have purchased. Word got around quick and those that had bad experiences with expensive repairs wanted a better experience so they went to my husband's dealership. Actually my husband hates it because they call him to pick up their car and take it to work for service. So he stresses about driving their cars. I am not going to give the name because I am not here to advertise.

I just know for a fact that there are warranty companies that don't cover repairs.  This company is one of them, so if you get anything with the postal permit of "Presorted Standard Mail Ft. Lauderdale FL Permit No.  2257? DON'T PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM. You end up paying them and they cover little or nothing at all. This is a horrible Warranty Company that preys on people who are afraid of having a car that is not covered under warranty.  My husband works in parts and service for a car dealer and people come in all the time with this type of coverage and the company doesn't pay for anything.  They have a hard time reaching  them and then they get a notice it is NOT COVERED or they pay $40 an hour and 25% of the parts and no labor OR Nothing at all. Buyer Beware!!!

They have a hard time connecting with them and than they get a notice it is NOT COVERED.  PLEASE ANYONE GETTING THIS TYPE OF MAIL with the phone number 1-800-335-1522, DON'T PURCHASE anything from them.  Any mail that doesn't have a return address or they leave you on hold is not a real company.  These companies pop up all the time and the average person doesn't know how to report them. I feel this is the only way to get the word out until the proper authorities catch up with them.

You're missing the point, they are taking advantage of people, mostly the elderly and the mail they send is actually scary.  The wording and type of print makes it look like a collection notice. If people don't complain and reach out with this type of information our mothers, fathers, friends, neighbors and their loved ones are open prey.

They have a bunch of clauses in their warranties after you purchase your plan that they really don't pay for anything expensive.  They pray on the elderly and they don't cover the really expensive repairs. Also they only pay $40 an hour, when it costs about $98 an hour for service at a dealer. They get paid and THEY DO GIVE coverage, just really really BAD coverage.  You are better off paying the extra $500 for extended warranty coverage from the dealership that you purchased the car from. Don't try to save money. Companies like these are in and out of business, work out of a suitcase, change phone numbers, change their name, but if you notice the POSTAGE PERMIT is always the same.  PERMIT No.  2257, they have a few of them and I will be adding them as I get them AND ADD THEM TO MY in future responses. Your dealership is in business to make money and will be there tomorrow, because if they don't supply service, they go out of business.  And they are actual people that you can see and feel, not a phone number.

lol I called and got a quote but grilled them as there is no company info on the mailer and thought yea I might be interested in an extended warranty so checked it out; Lynn 888-869-9654 X 1218 had all the answers and after they "checked" out my vehicle (questioned me) to see if the vehicle had any problems at which point I still did not even know who these folks are I asked them who they are and then started the online search. Lynn quoted me at first 3715.00 for the xtended coverage that was with a whopping 200.00 off with an attractive payment plan but she sure ran through the coverage pretty quick; since I am remote there are no outfits out there that are certified to work on the vehicle so I asked her about that and she said she would want this coverage if she lived this remotely. Hmm. really? With no one to work on it? Really? Anyway to continue as we talked and I questioned her further the price really started to drop the next discount was 500.00 for something so we were at 3215.00 then the Senior discount of 600.00 brought it down to 2615.00 lol so I told her I would think about it and do my research so then she came up with the pay in full discount at which point I said I wanted to see the coverage agreement in writing, shes sposed to send that to me right away but sure pushed hard for that lock down fee which went from like 395.00 at the start to 135.00 to Lock it In Right away so she could send me the coverage. pfffttt. You are a damn liar. This so called warranty service is a scam !!!   I spoke to a group of mechanics in Dallas
at a car show. They said they were being ripped off by this scam warranty. They get a call from this scammer warranty company authorizing them to repair a certain car. They repair the car. They never get paid. They then have no other choice than to put a mechanics lien on the victims car they repaired as this
scammer warranty company never paid for the repairs. The victimized car owner now has a mechanics lien
on it ! This scam warranty company also charges unauthorized charges to people creedit cards.
People are quoted one price for the warranty then the scammers charge a much much higher amount on the persons credit card.

We were within a hundred miles or less of our 75,000 mile warranty expiring when we received the "2nd Notice" in our mailbox.  I called, got a price, decided that it was actually pretty "fair" and said "yes", BEFORE TAKING THE  TIME TO CHECK THEM OUT.  I then called the Ford dealer where we purchased the truck, talked to the Service Department, and they informed me that they had NEVER heard of this company.  I talked to someone else at the same dealership and he advised me to stay away from this company as well.  So, after the fact, I have been doing some searching on line and although there are some positive comments about Naviss, it seems like the negative ones are greater in number.  Luckily, I paid for the transaction on our American Express card and can call and have them "reverse" the charge if Naviss gives me any slack when I call them to request a cancellation.

Bottom line, NEVER RESPOND TO AN UNSOLICITED PHONE CALL OR PIECE OF MAIL (or e-mail).
And, do your "homework" - check out a company FIRST before saying "yes" to anything!
