I work for Apple's Direct Dispatch department, and I can assure you this is not a scam. We have a group of agents who make outbound calls to customer's who are coming up on the end of their warranty period, to offer the Applecare Protection Plan.

I don't answer calls from 800's anyway but I don't think this one's from Apple Customer Care.  Pre-existing business relationship notwithstanding, I changed my phone number very recently and Apple does not have it.

I think it's great for a company to take the time to call me to see how my product is working. Also, I'm amazed how someone could give out their phone number when they register their computer and complain when they get a call.  Do your homework before you complain about something. The DNC  policy does not apply to a business and their customers-(Especially if you the customer  willingly gave them your phone number) You might want to rethink your actions next time you give out a number. That voids the DNC policy!!!!

Have a Great Day!! =)

I work here. We sell AppleCare. We work for Harte-Hanks, and also Apple. We are listed in the Apple directory, and get the employee discount. We are located in Austin TX. We make calls at 90 days, and 1 year. Our purpose is to provide excellent customer service, and to educate the customer about the Applecare. Many people are not even aware it exists. So I say, I work for Apple, which is true. If you are worried about scams, which is perfectly normal in the world we live in today, simply ask us for some sort of confirmation. We are happy to provide you with case information, serial numbers, or emails to prove the origin of our call. It is not a scam, I make $10 an hour, and I am happy to be employed by a company that I respect so much.

I don't even have apple care and they call repeatedly. Folks, any messages on this board that tell you they're all good and legit may very likely be written by the scammers. Only buy your Applecare direct from Apple or an authorized reseller.

This is most decidedly a scam. Apple says they don't call, so why would they call? If they do have a company which they have outsourced the sale of AppleCare to, why doesn't Apple say that?

this looks like a total scam, fishing for information (they did not have correct names nor equipment lists). they are selling apple care hopefully, not planning on robbing us. DO NOT  GIVE OUT info to them though.

This number has called repeatedly, I didn't answer it until today, when I just said "please take me off your calling list thank you" and hung up before anyone said anything. Apple shouldn't be calling me I have not purchased anything from them.

This is NOT Apple calling.  This is a Phishing scam.  After getting this call, I contacted Apple customer service and they forwarded me to a Management Rep.  He informed me that Apple does not call its customers to sell them Apple Care.

This is a new branch of customer service. They are the real deal, you even get email confirmation.
And when you register your computer, you are giving your number. And they have every right to call you.

Apple doesn't make phone calls to offer you a warranty.  I work for one of their dealers.  They also don't offer 1 year purchasable warranties (you get 1 year included, you can purchase AppleCare which gives you 3 total).  All of ya'll who are telling everyone it's ok, you're idiots.  It's not ok, because this is a scam, and a dangerous one if they're succeeding in getting SS#'s and date of birth (no company you are not working for or taking out a loan from should ever need your SS#, and NEVER, EVER give it out to someone who calls you, only to people you initiate a conversation with).

Apple Guy99, I'd keep a close watch on your credit.  You've been had.

I work for AppleCare as well and we used to make calls out for APP's, but now we only send emails to remind you that your warranty is almost up and the AppleCare Protection Plan can only be purchased within the original warranty period. Please don't provide your personal info to anybody calling you about Apple Products or Services. If they don't already have that info then they are not for real.

We DO dial outbound customers who are approaching 90days and 1 year limits on their product warranties. This can be confirmed when you call 1800-495-0375 which equals 1800 APL CARE

We can verify your serial numbers, previous products, cases, repairs, billing information and more. Please don't apply nasty rumors online since you don't know about this program. Just ask. An email and letter are also sent to the customer to remind them of APP enrollment.

To the poster who provided SSN and DOB info, it was the last 4 of your SSN, not the whole 9 digit number, and DOB to be used for a billmelater purchase since you either don't have a a credit card or did not want to use one over the phone. The billmelater option is available as another enrollment option.

Apple says this is a scam and that they NEVER call. Never give info on the phone. Get info from them and then call the number you know to be right--this works for anything.
