First a lady with an Arabic accent called me to tell me that i was going to recieve $2,500 in tax money. She wanted me to verify my info, she didn't ask me for my info though, she already know it and had me answer yes or no. Seemed kind of fishy to me. I couldn't finish talking to her because i was at work. I called them back after i got off, and then a man withan Arabic accent as well answered the phone, and answered it as "hello" not in a professional manner. They have all of information and i'm afraid that they're going to screw me over. I don't know who to contact or call for help.

I received an email identifying my town and a credit union name.  They stated they were updating there security system and my account was temporarily inactivated.  It asked me to call this number to reactivate my account.  I played along and entered a bogus 16 digit number, a bogus expiration date and a bogus 4 digit password.  It replied with a wait while we reactivate your account....I waited and sure enough, my bogus account was reactivated.
Come on, it sounded like someone took a voice chnager from the 99 cent store to use as their recorded message.  The recorded dude even had a British accent.  I think we should bombarb the hell out of them with constant phone calls with BS numbers.  Don't they have to pay per call received on that 800 number?  Who's with me?

I received an EMAIL asking me to call this number - said it was Community Driven Credit Union, getting ready to "close my account" and it is urgent that I call them to verify information... I, obviously, don't have an account at any such institution, and will not be calling them back.  Bad news.

I received a similar call and the person had an Indian accent.  Like most of you I realized it was scam.  However, I am courious as to how they manage to get there hannds on the amount my refund.  Did any of you use a professional preparerer or file electronically?  I am wonder if any of the software my CPA or our goveronment uses has a Trojon horse build in.  Since we outsource so much of our software development, I wouldn't be suprised if all of our information will be compromised sometime in the future.

I received a phone call where I work from someone with a very strong Middle Eastern accent. He proceeded to tell me that he was from the Department of Federal Tax Commission and that I was receiving $2500.00 from the government for paying my taxes on time....Yea right! He got angry with me because I could not understand him and I kept asking him to repeat himself. He knew my home address and then asked me for the name of my bank. When I wouldn't tell him, and tried to hang up he got even madder. So, I asked him if I could call the 800 number he had given me to verify and he said yes. I called the police and reported this. How do they have my home address and work phone number?????

Dude with a heavy accent called identifying me by name and verifying my actual address, which he already had, then tells me that I have a cash refund from the Federal Trade Commission. He wanted my bank account information so that he could give me an identification number to write on a check they would be sending me. I became very suspicious from the outset, and asked for a callback number, which he gave as 1-800-491-2507. I called it on my cell and after several rings there was a plain boxed message that said "Sorry, this customer is not answering" and then the line went dead. So, I hung up and told him I'd call the number he gave me. My wife called the number and a man picked up "Hello" and asked who she was. She gave my name, and the man who originally called got on the phone, identifying himself as "Samuel Jackson." He refused to answer questions about who he was and where he got the info about me, and seemed to be hustling, dangling the $2500 check every time. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO, THEY'RE FULL OF CRAP.
