I am on both the totally worthless national and Florida DNC lists. I bought a $60 Panasonic KX-TG6841B Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System with Handset from Adorama, which has blocking capacity of 250 numbers. I do not answer my phone unless I recognize the number or they leave a recognizable message and have blocked over 100 numbers in just a few months - that's an average of two numbers every three days - and it is not even the political season yet. The system also blocks calls from phone number "1" which cannot be recorded on this site and has so far called me 6 times.
I have no horse in the race of trying to sell call blocking devices - other than to put these telemarketing a-holes out of business.
More proof that telemarketers are hypocritical pond scum...

They want to treat your lawn. Or give you a firearms training course. Or maybe both.

This appears to be a generic number used by companies other than debt collectors - after listening to the message left it was from my insurance company wishing "Happy Memorial Day" weekend.

This is an email I sent NaturaLawn.com:
============================================
To whom it may concern,
I have a brand new sod, with a very small area where the new grass does not grow. Last year I saw one of your flags, with your phone number, on a nearby lawn. I wrote down the phone number, and when I got back home I called your office to ask if you can replace that tiny area of my lawn with new sod.
Your salesman, (Ryan or Michael), said that your company can do that. Instead,he sent someone to treat my lawn for weeds. The technician treated my lawn and left. I was not home that day. Then I received a bill for that service. I called your office, and explained the situation, and someone there apologized for the mistake, and canceled the charge for the service.
Then, your office sent the technician to treat my lawn for weeds, again, the following month. He knocked on my door and asked if I really needed that service, since my lawn looked brand new and free of weeds. I told him that I had canceled the service, since I was supposed to have a section of my lawn replaced with new sod, not treated for weeds, to begin with. He understood, and left without treating my lawn.
I called your office, again, and complained about the mistake. The office manager said that she'll will remove my name from your files and will never call me again. I wasn't contacted by your office, or your sales representatives, again, last year.
This year your salesmen began calling me, again. I answered one of his calls, because I did not recognize the number on my called ID. (The caller ID number was 000-000-0000). The salesman introduced himself as a representative of Lawn Care of America.
He said that he was calling me to ask if I wanted the same service as I had received last year.
When I said that I did not receive any lawn treatment last year, he began screaming at me, and verbally abusing me. He spoke over me, and did not allow me to finish a sentence. He kept calling me a liar, and saying that I did, in fact, receive treatment for my lawn from them last year. There was no way to reason with him.
I asked him to remove my name from his files, and to stop calling me. I also told him that his behavior is uncalled for.
In reply, he said: "I will call you, again, and again, every hour on the hour, and harass you."
He kept screaming at me, like a crazed bi-polar nut case.
I hung up the phone, and immediately called the main number of your office. When the receptionist picked up the phone, I explained what had just happened, and demanded to speak with someone from the complaints department.
She directed my call to a supervisor, a female. I spoke with her and complained about the salesman's verbal abuse. She said that she'll talk to him and that she will call me back. She never did. About an hour later I received a call from her supervisor. He apologized for his salesman's behavior, and said that he will remove my name from the list.
Evidently, he hasn't.
Since January of this year, I have seen your office phone number on my caller ID, at least once a week. I do not answer these calls, but they are still very annoying. I had just receive a call from you this morning, again, which woke me up from a deep sleep, since I work a late night shift and must sleep during the day.
Please remove my name from your files, or I will sue you.
Thank you.

Actually, Front Sight trains a lot of people in both offensive and defensive uses of firearms, edged weapons, etc. They are a legitimate company with their training facilities in Pahrump, NV. My guess is that they wouldn't be calling if your phone numbers were not already left with them!!!

this call rec'd 1:45 pm today (12/19/13) - said from "Gilbert _____" - my Allstate agent here in San Antonio,Tx., wishing me a Happy Holiday- is really from Allstate but caller i.d. says "toll-free caller" . I don't understand why it does not identify the company or show his name as it is legit- usually I just delete these w/out listening & prob. many others do the same. So it seems like a lot of wasted calls.

I just got a call from this number. The message they left said they were calling about an Allstate weather damage reporting line. I tend to believe them, because they gave the number for my local Allstate agent. Could this number be used by a "calling service"?

Keep getting calls asking for Dorothy..nobody at this address name is Dorothy. I tell them that and they keep calling back or leave messages that say they are E-loan and they leave an 800 number to return call. The number they left is 1-800-492-7956. At one point a guy in broken English told me he was FBI..Had to giggle at that one.
