Hi i just got a call from this number to my cell phone
| Cali 2013-01-28 21:01:41 Debt Collector |
I have been getting calls from this number for a long while now. It is a debt collector from ATT. I do not owe AT&T any money. I over paid my next to last bill. They refunded me 32.50 by check. My final bill came. I paid it. Again I got a check in the mail telling me I had over paid by 32.50. Over 6 months later I got a letter for collection telling me I owed AT&T $32.50. I asked how that was as they refunded me an over payment of that exact amount. They told me to call AT&T. I did. They said it was a mistake and that I should not hear from the collection agency again. Many months passed. I got another letter in the mail from the same collection agency, but this time they were looking for $65.00. The total amount of the refunded money to me. I again called AT&T . I was on the phone with them for over 3 hours. I kept asking to speak to supervisor after the next etc... Then I got switched yet again to another one... it was the same girl that I answered my call to begin with...who promptly told me this matter could be cleared up if I would pay them the $65.00. I was so angry I hung up on her. Now this number calls all the time. I don't owe them any money!

This exact same thing has been happening to my sister. They call her job and then threaten to have her arrested that day if she doesn't pay. The foreign guy is very mean and rude calling her job multiple times a day and also her cell phone. He says she has taken money from Cash America and did not pay it back in the time alloted and they will repo her car and take her to jail if not paid immediately. Very disturbing!

Must write a letter to them cease and decease. Make sure you get a signature verification is a form of record they recieve your letter. If they continue to call for the wrong person report them for harassment its under the Fair Debt Act Law.
This people or the call agent normally does not update there records that they reach a wrong number and when the whole batch is work on again your number will still appear.
They assume that the number they called are correct because there skip tracing department check all public records (telepnone company, utilities company, even cell number, post office) anything of public records.
Each state has a statue of limitation how long they can collect a debt some is up to 4 years. This be either verbal, written or contractual agreement for debts. Also, find out when the orginal debts some of the time its more than four years old and anything 10 or 20 years they need to decease since its pass the statue of limitation. Don't make any payment since it will reset the orginal debt date.
Any debts that can't be collect are resold to other debt collect like a nickel or less than a dollar. They can't tell you that they will send you to jail its against the law. Get educated by the Fair Debt Act. I use to work for companies like this (I am not an agent but their IT).. I hope this helps everyone.

My wife got a call from this number, didn't say anything when she answered it. I called it back, and they had the option to record a wrong number. I put in her number and we shouldn't be getting a call back. Hope this helps anyone else.

Send them this letter certified. If they call after you get the return receipt (the green card) THEN go to the FTC, that will give you a stronger case.

If you are receiving debt collection calls with a prerecorded message to your residential phone, the first thing you need to do is to let them know that you do not consent to these calls and demand that they cease communications with you. You have to make this demand in writing. You can usually fina an address on the web, but you should send the cease communications letter by certified mail, return receipt request so that you have proof that you sent it.
After you have done that, you may be able to pursue them for violations of the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act). This is the same statute that is used to sue junk fax companies. The statutory damage award is $500 for each call and $1,500 per call if they have violated the statute wilfully.
Also, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) requires that they honor written requests like this, and stop almost all communications. Letters like this should also be sent by certified mail, return receipt request. I have posted sample letters on my web site?s law library.

Your best option may be to have an attorney help get their attention or pursue claims under the either the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) or the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

| Sprint User 2011-08-02 17:05:15 Debt Collector |
Most have been saying this is a collections agency for AT&T. Since I've used Nextel since 1993 which is now Sprint, they shouldn't even be calling my number in the first place unless Nextel / Sprint formerly shared At&t numbers and that doesn't sound likely. They have called me everyday with an automated message, They don't mention who they are, or what their purpose is, who they want t contact, or who they represent on their message. It's not until you listen to the end where they refer you to their website and find out they are ERC and a debt collector yet still no mention who they represent for the collection or who they are looking for. They are not showing good form or professionalism. Obviously they are searching for someone else and I simply ignored the calls but after receiving a call at 4am in the morning on August 1, 2011, I am now a bit aggravated with this company seeking collections for an account I have ever been in possession of.

They called me a bunch last year, when I finally answered they asked for Ryan ********. I explained that they had a wrong number and they promised to remove my number. The calls stopped briefly and now they are back to calling 2-3 times a week. Very annoying.
