I feel like an idiot I got a call in 2011, was pushed into it couldn't do the big ad but finally agreed to a small add, for the grand total of $430, but they took forever to send me the electronic copy and regardless of the fact that I asked for an actual copy to be sent to me in the mail I still haven't received it.  After that a lot of tragedy happened in my life from multiple deaths to my mother committing suicide; needless to say they were not on the top of my list.  I had worked out payment options with them and then I had sent them cheques, they were never cashed and/or received which I had cancelled anyways.  They continue to call now I feel like an idiot I have made a payment of $250 and I am feeling that I have been taken for a ride and I am not sure how to proceed, I asked for a confirmation of the payment and I have not received it, I asked for a confirmation of my invoice number and that the account would be settled and I have not been able to receive any still.  Should I bother giving them any more money? They have been threatening and telling me that they will take me to collections etc but have still NOT provided me with a personal copy?

Dealing with this company as we speak. My boyfriend was called and pushed into a corner. Told him that it had to go to press in 2 hours and that there was no time to think about it. (As an aside, I told her that her sales rep mislead, and right out lied to my boyfriend to push him into the sale) They designed an ad that couldn't have taken them more than 5 minutes (I know because I'm in the print design business). We were only at the proof stage, so I haven't received any invoices. But I sent in a fax saying that the ad wasn't approved, sent an email, and called left 2 messages. The Customer Service number was out of service - which is the number you have all been referring to (1-800-503-4565)  The new number is 1-800-293-9865

Courtney - their GM called me back today - was VERY difficult to deal with.  She gave me her personal cell and tried to give me a level of comfort with that. I told her flat out we weren't interested in moving forward with the ad - and she told me that the cancellation fee was $250!!! The ad was $350!  That's when I lost it!  I told her I would give her $20 for the 5min of work that was put into creating my ad, but that was it. She said she would forward me the voice recording with my boyfriend. I agreed, but said I wanted the ENTIRE recording, not just the 10seconds that they persuaded him to say what they needed. I wanted the recording from the moment my boyfriend answered the phone until the moment he hung up. She said she could provide that - but hasn't yet.

I have done some research - and they operate under quite a few different business names. I told her I was going to make an official complaint with the BBB - and she didn't care.  Said she deals with over 100 customers a day, and that they expect to always get a few complaints. To which I said..if you deal with 100 customers a day, you can definitely eat the 5 min it took to design our ad - sounds to me like you're have plenty of business to make up for it.

Other companies that I found that they are associated with are:
1. Italian news
2. Medlaw
3. Legal & Medical directories
4. Police News
5. Weekly Law Brief
6. Oilfield news
7. National Directory Publishers Inc.

They are located in Edmonton.

Actually, I have had personal issues with this company and their lack of business ethics. Funny how there is only one positive comment about this company on here!!!

So I got a call from this guy and I too thought it was very shady. I interviewed him for a bit and this was the result:

In this case they are publishing ads in a Police Magazine... he told me unfortunately they are not getting any government funding to distribute the magazine of Canada's most wanted and they needed support via business adds. I asked him who he worked with and he beat around the bush a bit and said: My job is to get adds to fund the yearly printing of this magazine. So I asked him again and rephrased, who's printing? And he said a printing company. At this point I asked him: what's the name of YOUR company that YOU work for?

And he said NewsLink... now... I have found ZERO on this newslink and the police website is:

www.policenewsreport.com

It's the WORST website ever... clearly they are not doing very well... I'm all for supporting NEW and local small businesses... but please, don't coach your sales team to beat around the bush with a bunch of BS...

I personally will not be supporting this company...

I got a call from this company on Monday March 19 2012, they stated that they were representing Edmonton Police News letter, and of course would I be willing to place my business card size advertisment in there news letter. I told the individual on the phone that I would have to look into it further and needed his company information and phone number (the phone number on call display was blocked). The person on the phone gave me the company name National Publishers and phone number 1-800-503-4565, and his name was Brandon Thompson. Of course I googled the company and eventually led me here. I returned Brandons call back to the number provided (in less than 2 minutes of receiving his call) and got a switchboard, I asked for Brandon Thompson and they transfered me to someone who stated that there is no Brandon Thompson working here.

Just got a call from this number looking us to purchase advertising in nanaimo.  When i refused the man became beligertant and slammed the phone down.  No reputable company especially one who claims to be working on behalf of the RCMP would have employees that act this way.  i say 100% scam.

Forgot to mention, they are recording your conversation.  A couple more things to help inform the public, the Police Newsletter that THEY are referring to, is not a newsletter from the Police, it is from Italien Publishers.  When asked for more information, they said they are not associated with them.  At the end of our conversation I asked for their own company name, and they said, Italian Publishers. I called them on it...they repeated, they are Italian Publishers.  The email says they are Newslink although the "employee signature" doesn't give a company name.  They say that's because they publish under Newslink Publishing.  They're email address is linked to bellyellow.com   I told them we're not running an ad with them.  They claim the sales manager will have to call and approve that. Although when asked for their manager's phone number, they claimed he didn't have one.  Google it all yourself.  You'll see nothing makes sense.  Red Flags.

VERY shady.  My partner was scammed. Don't engage.  I've been in business for 10 years. Here are your red flags 1) They call to solicit ads. A reputable company doesn't need to. 2) They ask for committment on the phone. Pressure tactics. 3) There's no website, info, or sample for their "newsletter".  Very fishy.  4) Their business name and phone number don't match with a website.  5) The email "proof" is sent with a 48 hour clause where if you do not respond, they will print it.  I deal with marketing all the time.  Reputable companies develop a trusting relationship with you. This is a scam of some kind.  6) Try calling them with a concern.  No one available. The email "name" doesn't match the extension phone number and there is no main desk.  Call from a different phone and you'll reach someone but it's the wrong department and "what was her name again"....she's not in.  Excuses, run around, messages left.  SCAM written all over it. Isn't there anywhere we can report these people to?  The office is apparently in Edmonton.  Interesting they're claiming to be placing ads for the Police News. What a great front for convincing people they're harmless.  Stay away.

I worked for this company 2 years ago...They do medical and legal directories children safty books police news Italian news and so on, They do publish these books but never on time. They also tape your calls and  try to trick you into saying yes to the ad being placed. I ended up leaving the company after 3 months because I was getting calls at work threating me because the ones scamming them to place an ad. a book that is suppose to take 6 months to get you was taking 2 years. We did have police organizations place ads and major businesses but like I said the book would take forever to get out.

I was called by this number today. When I went online to search the company I could find no information on them. They said they would put an ad in the National Law List for me for $1,000.00 when I told them I could not afford it they said I could put a smaller ad in for $495.00 When I told them I was doing a search on them, they directed me to the National Law List to see the ads. But when she was giving me the contact information she said Weekly Law brief. Contact name was Trisha Smithy. I was also given the contact e-mail for a graphic disigner named Steve, cnews@shaw.ca  Then there was a followup call from someone that said their name was Chad. His job was to confirm my ad needs. I was on the phone with them for a very long time asking many questions, including why I could not find them on a review search. They had answers for every question but were quite persistant. I agreed. Now I find this page after entering the phone number given to me. Now what? I did find it a bit strange that I was given two different names reguarding the ad.
