It's a Fraud.

Same here! I have an hbc card but I didn't call until a week later...& a few days after that as well...& every time, all I got was a busy signal. Guess they had been exposed as a scam by then...so not a valid #. How does this kind of thing get reported...through this website? Very annoying!! & how do they get a hold of private cell phone #'s?!!!

Received the same SMS message (HBC Mastercard locked) as others here. Called 1-800-511-1983 and got a fast busy signal. Googled the number and arrived here where I see this is a common scam.

Same text message as everyone else on my cell phone. Tried to call the number back (and not from my home phone or my cell phone), ring no answer, then a busy signal.
I was all ready to record the call and send it to Ontario Orovincial Police PhoneBusters squad!

I got the same text but mine said to call a different number:
(call)
Hudson's Bay Company Alert.Mastercard Locked. Please call + 1 9174600132.
From: sndw@nwhbs2.com
It makes sense that this is a scam. I didn't call the number because I know hbc doesn't have my cell number. Unfortunately you can't even get through to hbc MasterCard either.
I guess this is what happens when cell numbers go public!

The safest thing to do when you get a call like this and you're not sure...
Just call the number on the back of your card.

I got the exact same text message on my cellphone last night. I DO own an HBC card, but then I thought later, why would they send me a text message? if it was urgent, wouldn't they call my home phone and/or send a letter? I don't think I've given HBC my cellphone number, so then I did think last night it was a scam. I just got online now & read all the messages so I know it's a scam! thanks to all who've posted :) ... I'm with Bell Mobility.

I called Hudson Bay Company. Normally I don't do this but I was p*&**d off. They are aware of this situation.
| A.B 2012-02-25 16:44:40 Unknown |
Same as above.
Does anyone know how to report this. This and many other calls are becoming so rampant. I feel bad for those who do not know and fall for it.

I got a SMS to my blackberry from a number listed as 6245, the message they sent me said:
call@hbc.com (NASD)
Hudson's Bay Company
Alert. Mastercard Locked.
Please call +1-800-511-1983
So I called that number and it said it was not in service. Then I googled HBC's contact number and called them. I for one do not own a HBC Mastercard, nor do I even own a Mastercard in general only Visa and none are linked to my cell phone. I spoke to a lady at HBC and she confirmed that its an automated system that asks for your HBC MC #. DO NOT FALL VICTIM OF THIS!!!! DO NOT enter your Mastercard Number. Always make sure you speak to a direct representative and not a automated system. HOPE I HELPED!!!
