called the number and get a recording saying "merchant services protection plan"

I get them 3x a day, it's always some person who can hardly speak english talking about my merhant account, and saying I can approve them to send me stuff or change something, but since I can hardly understand them, I tell them to shut up & i hang up.

I got 4 calls yesterday and today I spoke with merchants services he said after 10 I would be taken off the list. I have had 2 more calls

Same thing -- claiming to be about my Discover merchant account. Barely speaks English. Gotten 3 calls in the past two days. One of them was actually giggling.

I work at a hospital and for the past week I've received calls from this number at our office and there's never anyone there. I got a call from someone asking for a person I've never heard of and they hung up immediately when I told them that person wasn't here. The person barely spoke English. I believe it was from the same number but it was on our rollover line so the number only flashed once.

These are automated calling systems that dial 100s of numbers at once. If a call is answered and an agent is available, they connect the call to the agent. If no agent is available, they drop the call leaving you with no one on the line.

Best advice - all call from an 800/888 number with no name attached - just do not answer. If you answer and tell them to not call again, you will most likely get put on a list of known good numbers and sold to any services. 100s of companies use these lists and actually most calls come from only a few companies that wholesell the services. So getting off your "caller's" list will never get you out of the system that is actually doing the calls.

They keep calling over and over.  I can't understand the person - all I got out of it was they wanted to charge us for something - then I hung up, but they keep calling.

I got a call showing up only as 5072 on my call i.d. on my cell phone. I don't even know if this is the same people. The guy had a strange accent, and kept saying, "hellohellohellohello?" He didn't even give a person a chance to answer. Then he said a name, but I couldn't understand it well. It didn't sound like my name. And finally he hung up. And he called right back, and so I answered and hung up right away. I don't know who it's from, but found it rather odd that it only showed up as four numbers.

calls me 2 and 3 times a day and then no one there

They call our Customer Service line several times a day, nights and weekends, even Sunday nights. Very rude and always requesting the owner or manager and refuse to talk to anyone else. Lady today was pretending to be an angry customer and hung up when I told her we do not accept solicitation on this line and to remove us.

They call but disconnect the phone.

Thanks to this site I at least know what this stupid number is.  Unfortunately, I'm just like the rest of you and can't stop them!  If anyone has success with stopping them, please post how you did it!

I cannot understand a word they are saying.  These calls are coming from India.  I left a message to tell them t stop calling me.

I'm in the same boat.  They called on a Saturday and my live answering service picked it up and I get to pay for it!  How do you stop this nonsense?

They are calling more and more to a number picked up by my live answering service and it is costing me everytime they call.
They are calling a number on the Do Not Call list.
I have called them but get put to a voicemail and by listening to a playback of the message I can tell it only records for one second.

The same # calls me repeatedly at my place of business.  I have contacted them from my home # because they would not answer from my business #.  They told me it would take up to 3 weeks before the calls would stop.  When they call my business there is no one on the other end, it just disconnects!

This company is Merchant Services calling about an existing Discover Networks account, wanting to know if they can sign you up for additional services.  800-511-5072.  They used to call us every day and even after we told them we weren't interested, they kept calling.  I rec'd 2 calls from them today and was hung up on once i answered.  I called back and had them put me on their no call list.

This is a company trying to sell you a credit card swiping machine. THey think your ph number is a business.

Recieved call(So Cal), nobody there. found this post, so I wanted to add.

Received 5 calls over the last week with nobody on the line. Finally someone with broken English asked if I accept credit cards.

Does anyone know why this number is calling?
