I received one of these in the mail today. It was not hand-written for me, but used a font much like handwriting for the recipient address.
It doesn't say who it was from, but the recipient address shows "auto" which I believe is used in bulk mailings (same as used for advertisements). It has the "paid" first class permit 1002 info on the postage area from West Palm Beach Florida.
The phone number I was asked to call is 1-800-732-3407, and it also has the fine print of "terms and conditions apply. this offer is being used in conjunction with a vacation promotion."

It would be nice if it was real.

Hi, just got a similar letter, from Ellington Centre, Daytona Beach, Florida. Paula Smith, Vice President, Southeast Region, "wrote" that  she was pleased to inform me that I'm going to receive an Android Touchpad Tablet Computer from their gifting department, at no charge (sloppily underlined with a pen).
All I needed to do was call 1-800-732-3449.
I never did, just to obvious that it is a scam!.

Letter from "Ellington Centre" @ PO Box 830, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 signed from Paula Smith, Vice President, Southeast Region that I won an Android Touchpad Tablet Computer. Called the number to tell them to take me off their mailing list they said they were just a call center and couldn't do that and recommended I return the letter to sender...

I received same "Ellington Centre" free android tablet but my letter was signed Paula Smith. RSVP number and Android disclaimer at the bottom, which was the only effort they employed to make the letter look legitimate. Other than that it SCREAMED made at home. when I searched for Ellington Centre it came up Ellington Center in Nashville TN. I wanted to call and just lead them on but I don't have time. These scams really piss me off. They have all this time to create and promote these scams when they could just get a real job and be an active member of society. but no err. I'm glad there are places where we can try and inform others that hopefully at least Google letters, flyers, postcards and other " its to good to be true communications. Thanks to everyone who posted about this scam. I got my free tablet from Dish Network with whom I'm a customer and they have a legitimate reason to have and offer me such a deal.

Telemarketer
Got the same letter  from PO Box 830 Daytona Beach FL 32118 ( hand-written)
Letterhead was very generic and stated it was from Casco Centre. Type-written and signed 'regards, Steve Winsley Vice President, South East Division.  With a phone # 800-732-3449. Call and claim a FREE Android using the RSVP # given at the bottom.
Now being an EX- CEO of a telemarketing Co. from the 80's , I knew exactly what this was about, so I had the pleasure of calling and figuring in all their details. It is a promotional, HARD selling, vacation membership/time-share SHAM!  I say the word 'SHAM' because, it is actually done within legal limits but as I mentioned, VERY HARD SELLING TECHNIQUES!
Now here is  a tip. The Centre name is actually the County of where they are promoting in your area. For instance, they wanted me and my wife to go to a 2 hour presentation in Portland Maine ( which is located in Casco County Maine... hence the Casco Centre on the letter head)  Also, As she ( the telemarketer)  was pitching me ( or trying to *lol )  she mentioned that there was Zero Obligation and NO purchases necessary  at all to claim the new Android  Well what do you call, driving 2 hours, spending $$$ on gas, sitting through a 2 hour ( guaranteed 4+ IMHO ) presentation  and then being hard-sold in person? Well to be honest,,,, I'd most certainly call that an obligation to receive anything! Also, she mentioned that the Android would be quote "delivered  IN HAND"  This was before I was told about the presentation!  So I stopped her in her tracks and stated that she  already told me that the Android was to be delivered and now she was telling me I had to pick it up??? *Hard Sale Tactic right there as well as deception!  Now they already have your mailing address, so when I called her she mentioned that the phone call was being recorded. I stated quote "GOOD, because I do not want you to sell or give ANY of my information to anyone, including ANY 3rd party, and if I find out that this company has, I will sue your a***s from here to Rome" LOL  Another thing, I was told I had to show 2 forms of ID, one with a picture such as my driver's license and another such as quote " a CC and it can't be a Debit card, it must be a major CC!"  Again, I placed her in a spot by saying "Now wait a minute. you just mentioned all I needed was 2 forms of ID and one has to be a photo ID, That was all, and now you are telling me I MUST have a major CC?"  again DECEPTION! Anyways, Beware...!!!  they already know your home mailing address and if you give them the RSVP#  it tells them who you are, so then they get your Caller ID. None of this bothers me personally because I have the knowledge on how to block them out of my life for good but many folks may get taken, but if you want to have fun with them, when you call them back use *67 to block your phone #!  Oh and one last thing.... I was told their company name was "SESTIVA ADVENTURE CLUB" ( she even spelled it out for me letter by letter and slowly too! ) NO SUCH COMPANY!  but when you research the mailing address. it comes up as "FESTIVA Adventure club" which has a very bad rep for HARD SALES!   Have Fun and Stay Safe!

Same here.  Letter from "Biltmore Center." Machine stamped PO Box address purportedly from Daytona Beach FL.  Same info in the letter as you shared.  Do not respond!  Esp. do not call or they will have your number and will call you incessantly!  This is obviously a scam.  Timeshare is likely, I agree.  Thanks for writing.

It's a scam OFC!  This was what I got:

I received a letter saying the exact same thing, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" it was sealed where you have to tear off all the edges...Open it up and there is a inside note saying: "NEW TOUCHPAD TABLET COMPUTER complete with Android software!" (Yes there is a tracking number for this letter only, we all get one) Underneath that "Call 1-800-514-2517" If you look on the back of the letter, other side of tear off section you will see the following address "CP, po box 20389, west palm beach, fl 33416" On the opposite side of the voucher inside says blah blah blah "Android is a trademark of Google, Inc...this offer is being used in conjunction with vacation promotions. Call for details"

Found this at the Better Business Bureau:
http://www.bbb.org/south-east-florida/busines ... ach-fl-90033274

After looking and thinking about how they get our info...well lets see, we use social media, we all make accounts with google and all those other search engines or when making emails on almost all those "free email sites"... need I say more?!!!

No one has to sell anything because you give it away all the time just by typing on the internet!

Food for thought:  Used virus protection with online safety (social media site protection)
Trend Micro has one of the best out there and is cost effective and gives 3 copyright protections for 3 different devices and a free online scan for tablets or iPhones etc.  (or use one of the copyrights for that device you don't even need a CD for it, it'll let you download it from their site)
This will help you out a ton if you are not computer savy!

(Pay for the virus protection don't use the free online ones...then you can set your protection levels so none of your real info gets saved online that you do not want saved online!)

I hope this helps someone out there, and NEVER call the numbers or your phone number and all your info  will be sold and sent out to tons of telemarketers out there!

Address was handwritten. Received a letter from Ellington Centre informing me that I was going to receive an Android Touchpad Computer from their gifting department. All I have to do is call the gifting department at 1-800-514-2454, and reference the RSVP gift code printed at the bottom of my letter. The letter is signed by Steve Winsley Vice President, Southeast Region. I am sure this is a scam!!!!! There is no company name.

Received a letter today.  Envelope was handwritten (very unusual in today's world).  Return address was also handwritten.  It's P.O. Box 830, Daytona Beach, FL 32118.  The letter was typed, but certainly didn't look like it was on "official" letterhead.  At the top, was typed Biltmore Centre.  Letter said I won an Android Touchpad Tablet and that I needed to call their "gifting department" at 800-514-2454 to claim my prize.  Said they'd also include a complimentary stay at a 1st class resort for a week...Timeshare Scam most likely.  Letter was signed by Steve Winsley, VP, Regional Awards Division (no Company name).  If it looks like a SCAM and smells like a SCAM...I'm sure it's a SCAM.

Received an official looking "Gift Pick Up Notice" letter from "Travelocity".    Call 1-800-514-2417 M-F 9am-10pm. Sat-Sun 9A-6P.  This is suppose to be for 2 round trip tickets on Southwest, Jet Blue, United, OR A COMPARABLE Airline...plus 3-day/2 night weekend stay at a hotel SUCH AS Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton.
Call with in 48 hours and receive a 3 day car rental plus $50.00 Travelocity Hotel Cash Gift Card.

Tried calling the number many times.  Kept getting (after a 30 second pause)..."All circuits are busy".  Not Sure, but I feel this is a way that a Telemarketer can get your number and use it even if you are on the National "DO NOT CALL LIST".

I got the same postcard today also, except it doesn't say anything about my birthday.  It just says, "Congratulations, you have been selected to receive ... <same text as yours>."

Also, our tracking number is different.  Our ends with R23930.

Years ago, I would have fallen for this and played along to see where it leads, but with kids now and pretty much no free time, nah.

Got a post card claiming the offer was powered by Priceline.com. It says:
"In honor of your birthday, you are going to receive 2 round trip airfares on a US Airline flying anywhere in the continental US and a 3 days 2 night Marriott Weekend getaway.

Call within 48 hours. You will also receive as a bonus a 3 day rental car by Alamo, plus a $50 hotel cash card by priceline!

To claim this special offer, simply call this number! 1-800-514-2417 Monday - Friday 9 AM - 10 PM Saturday - Sunday 9am - 6pm

Tracking number 1019CABD23695"

I have reported it to the FTC, for whatever good that does. I also want to note, for the record, since people are mentioning birthdates... this is in honor of my birthday... my birthday is a few months away still. So not sure how they got my address and full name.
