I agree, I have changed some services w/Verizon, that afternoon 6 calls showed on my ID as blocked calls from this #...they started again the next morn at 8AM......

Yep, Verizon. It's been a while since the last posts but it still says "private" and has the same message when you call back. Annoying but I'm glad I found out who it was since it was obviously an auto dial.

I just did some changes on my account and got a call from the number that everyone is mentioning about. It is an automated dialer calling to make sure to tell you the service is working. I called it back and that is what it said. However you should not continue to get the call. That is error with Verizon try calling the number back and listen to the message to the end. Maybe you will stop getting those calls. Hope that helps.

I too received a call from 800-514-7490.  No message left, and I closed a Werizon account (only took me 4 months and many phone calls) and then received my first call from this number about an hour later.  I really hope someone is on the other end of the line when they call back! :)

I ALSO AM RECIEVING MANY CALLS FROM 800-514-7490...I WORK FOR A TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY THAT IS NOT VERIZON. WE HAVE A VERIZON LINE FOR TEST CALLS, AND THIS IS THE NUMBER THAT 800-514-7490 CONTINUES TO CALL ON. WE HAVE NOT MADE ANY CHANGES NOR IS IT A NEW NUMBER. IT WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW WHY, WHAT, HOW THEY ARE CALLING WITH A PRIVATE NUMBER...WHY WOULD THEY NOT WANT CUSTOMERS TO KNOW IT'S THEM???????

I received a call today from that number - it was a message from Verizon (recorded message) confirming the recent service changes that I had made with Verizon.

The message left was from Verizon verifying that we had switched services.

I see a pattern here.  Same thing but was left an ignorant message on my answering machine from an immature idiot.

Same thing happened to me I change some of my verizon services one hour later received  a call from 1-800-514-7490 and they hung up.

I called verizon today and also got several calls from 1800-514-7490, with
no messages left, so I called the number and it was verizon with an automated
message to tell me that my service request was completed.  I started receiving these calls within 1 hour of calling verizon.

Same thing here as the other comments. We changed to Verizon FiOS yesterday and got a call at 8 am today, 2 rings and then hung up. Caller ID showed "blocked name" and 1-800-514-7490.

And I too changed my Verzion calling plan.  makes you wonder and my number is unlisted unplublished too.

I changed some services with verizon also and all of the sudden I have received over 27 calls including some from this number!

I changed some services with verizon and am also on the do not call list. That is probably why they don't answer. This is harrassment (hope spelling is good) Class action on grounds
of accountability would be appropriate.

Switched Verizon Services today and received a voice message  listing "private" from 800-514-7490

Yup, I switched servies yesterday to Verizon and got the Private Name 1-800-514-7900 call this morning. When I answere it they hung up...

I also received a message from the 1-800-514-7490 after contacting Verizon.  Why does a follow-up by Verizon have to be 'private caller?'

I had called to report a phone/internet outage to Verizon a few days earlier. Then began receiving multiple 'private' calls from 800-514-7490 with no messages left on answering machine.

We had verizon service out to our house yesterday and now the calls have not stopped from this number.VERY annoying.

Caller ID said Private and 1-800-514-7490, I received several calls just after some service changes to my Verizon account so I would agree with the other two comments listing Verizon as the originator of the call.

I just got off the phone with VZN at 800-837-4966.

Have your recent bill in hand with the account # handy.

I gave them a blast about robo-calls, which are being asserted to confirm a recent change in service.

This practice stinks, maybe they will get the message and stop making these automated calls.

Automated call came in on a Seattle area QWEST line.  Said to call back 888-483-3222.  So I did and was connected to Verizon in California.  They were no help. I also called the 800-514-7490 and it goes to a Verizon 'Thank You' message.
I beleive that auto-calls are a Tariff violation in the state of Washington..??

I work for you know who but the truth is I really hate that f$#%^ automated voice because it actually provide the wrong information to customers specially with regard to their service then customers will be calling tech department about this and it actually wastes the time of the customer and the techguy

Yesterday (11-3-2008) I contacted Verizon in order to get "ANONOMOUS CALL REJECTION."

I got so tired of getting calls from people who are trying to get our credit card account numbers, ?HEATHER FROM ACCOUNT SERVICES? and crooks trying to sell ?extended vehicle warranties? and other crooks who say ?we can lower your monthly credit card payment?? so I started Verizon so I could block these unwanted calls.

I stopped answering any calls from ?PRIVATE NAME? or ?UNKNOWN NAME? and even from area codes I don?t recognize? ?062? is not even and area code, but the crooks calling from this ?area code? use a machine to mask their actual number.

So, on 11-4-08 at 8:30 a.m. I get a call from 800-514-7490, and it is listed as ?PRIVATE NAME.?  I do some checking and find out it IS VERIZON. Why in the hell do they too MASK their identity? And WHY did I order their $10 a month service to stop PRIVATE NAME? It appears their "ANONOMOUS CALL REJECTION" doesn't apply to them!

I am so disgusted in VERIZON, I might just simply cancel my residential service and use my cell phone for all my contact with the ?outside world.?

This is correct. As I have recieved this call a couple times before and if you call the number back it is Verizons automated information line telling you about any service or work orders having been completed.
