Big companies like this can also pay for all of your information on line. And you are right- they will call your emergency contact.

Calls and hangs up, does not leave a message. About three times a day. When most people are working. When I call the number. Unprofessonal answering machine message. No name of company or what they do. To me I beleive is a scam. Went to BB complants, and found that they go after mostly elderly and fixed income.

Kim from 800-917-9304 called this morning and would just say the call was regarding a personal matter. I said you can't give me the company name, no disrespect to her but that is fn ridiculous. I called back and Kim answered the phone saying the company name of Safety Recovery Services.

I keep getting same call and I do not answer and then they hang up and do not leave a msg. Today I picked up and they asked for me by first and last name and I said tell me who you are first and he would not just repeated my name and I said you keep calling and don't leave msgs. why is that? He then asked me if my birthdate was a certain date and I told him to send me something in the mail I am not confirming anything over the phone. He started mubling something while I was hanging up.

People need to google their names as well as their phone numbers and places like Spokeo that show up, they need to remove that info. Facebook accounts should also be checked to make sure their private info is not public.
The laws only allow x things to be done, some of these company's are abusing the laws.

Most companies now use skip tracing and it shows all numbers and names of persons associated with you

Got a call from this number and the caller's intro was totally unintelligible. Sounded like a bad connection which I blamed on my cellphone. He gave his name again which I still didn't hear very well and then asked for me by name. He then began to ask me to verify my identity. Wait...who is this?? His response was that if I refused to identify myself, he would be ending this call. And then he hung up on me. Strangest call I've received...

They called for not even a second and then hung up. Did not leave a message and they were very rude on the phone when I called back to see who it was. They say JP recovery services and I owe a bill to the Cleveland Clinic. I owe nothing to them. Actually I have a credit with them.

Maybe "Nan" is Grace. But here's another message for "Nan"...medical bills do not always come at a financially opportune time. Sometimes people stuggle at the lack of medical insurance or the crazy high deductibles we are now all experiencing. Try getting hit with a $2500 annual deductible and see how that affects your financial situation.
jim 2013-01-25 17:00:58 Unknown
Really Nan??? How did you get to a post about a collection agency? How did you know about this number? Keep your judgments to yourself.
4Q2 2012-07-05 15:46:41 Unknown
Only if you actually owe the bill, and to the original creditor.
Nan 2012-07-05 15:25:07 Unknown
Pay your bills and they won't call you.
Sarah 2012-06-21 16:51:53 Unknown
Contact the attorney general and FTC file a complaint. I did it works! They will stop!

Report them to your attorney general and FTC.

If u wonder how they got your number, here's what the idiots do. I wondered how a collector got my elderly parents phone number and started harrassing them for MY medical bill. When I thought about it, I figured it out. There was only one place on Earth that anyone I do not know could have gotten my parents unlisted number to contact them about me-they were listed as my emergency contact when I was admitted through the E.R.!! Whoever you list as your emergency contact when you go to the hospital is who these idiot medical bill collectors call. That's really low-life to call someone's elderly parents, or any other relative and should be considered an invasion of privacy. I dont have the money for an attorney or I'd sue the b*****ds for invasion of privacy and harrassment because they have no right to call anyone's emergency contact to collect a bill! By calling your emergency contact, they are doing so without your permission, without the contact's permission and divulging confidential information about you when they call your emergency contact! If they call your emergency contact, tell that person to tell them they will be legally charged if they call there again and hang up.

I am getting voicemails and hear no talking, just someone breathing. At least the 4th time in the past 6 weeks or so.
StrugglingStudent 2011-08-01 19:02:20 Unknown
It's JP Recovery Services... debt collector for various companies. Cleveland Clinic, for me. They have left me multiple voicemails in which no one talks... I just hear heavy breathing and typing. Creepy, regardless if I owe money or not.

"Grace" also called me at worktoday, refusing to identify the business she was calling from, but requesting I identify myself first. When I laughed, she said she would call back and hung up. 800-517-9304
