Best thing to do when you receive an unsolicited call. go along with the unsolicited caller call them back if asked to waste their time. give them all the wrong information. wrong credit card numbers addresses etc.

If we all do this these companies will cease to exist. They will eventually get the message as it will cost them too much time to deal with us.
It will cost us a bit of time to do this but it will pay off in the long run.

We got a call from these a-holes, too. I told them I am a lawyer and I am going to file suit on them personally for damages. I suggest everyone take the same approach. I was tempted to tell them I am a doctor and I am going to operate on their tiny little brain to remove the problem.

Same as all of the above.

They are using old phone lists. They use the name of my deceased father who has been gone for 32 years, they phone and state that the e-mail from -----(fathers name)@reborn.net appears on their request.

I started receiving these calls for my deceased father on 7-1-08 and have received calls from six or eight a day ever since. The slim bag Telemarketers have started calling with the same pretext.  "We are returning a request so the "Do not call list" doesn't apply to me." many different numbers call.

There must be a conection with the lists that are distributed as this is a sudden thing to receive calls for my father at a number that has been mine for 12 years.

I have caller ID and privacy manager on my landline with ATT.  I am,for now, keeping a log of the numbers.

I don't understand why the appropriate agency with the enforcement powers doesn't respond to the legal issue. The "Do not call list" was a good thing but if no action is taken against the "The "I'm returning a request" it will only get worse.

I don't understand why the FCC or the FTC can't do what we did and look at the number of on line complaints against specific violaters.

All they have to do is call one of these numbers and get on the list. I'm not sure how many civil servants it would take to do this.  It seems like it might be good to have a few knocks on doors by law enforcement and/or the phone company and stop the Ruse of "I'm calling back".

I got out of the gym and had a missed call from this number (1-800-203-9783 )  I called back and the guy answers the phone "Hello?"  So I didn't even think it was a company until he asked my name and said that I had "won" a free cruise.  He went on, seriously for 10 minutes about the accommodations, asking if I like to vacation, etc.  I let him go because I was bored, and hey I'm gonna listen to the details if there's a chance of going on a cruise!! When he got to the end and asked for my credit card number, I literally laughed and said there's not way I'm giving you that information over the phone.  At which point he transferred me to the "supervisor" who said "I understand you have a question or concern about our processing procedure?"  I was like umm, no I don't have a questions or concern, I'm just not going to give out my credit card information over the phone, if you want to mail me details or let me call you back after I do some research I will be more than happy to work something out.  And he got seriously got so pissy, "Maam, you called us, this is an inbound call, why would YOU call US and waste my time, blah"  I WAS LIKE YOU CALLED ME, I HAD A MISSED CALL AND HAD NO IDEA WHO IT WAS AND CALLED THE NUMBER BACK.  He went on and on about how Ramada is so impressive and notorious and tried to make me feel like an idiot for not have ever hearing of Imperial Cruise lines.  Ended up hanging up on him.

When a represetative hangs up the phone they have to enter a code. NI for not interested; NA for not available and so on and so on. There is also a check box for do not call list. The representative must have been confused ad thought the call code would do - they probably didn't even see the box.

I have experienced the same harassment as reported by the previous phone customers.

The subject phone number is listed below.

This started, with me, all at once.  This leads me to believe that phone number lists are sold and distributed rapidly.  This is the same as phishing on a computer.  They find out if a phone works and attempt to get information under the ruse of a request.

The phone companies are making millions of dollars from their blocked and unblocked toll free numbers and you can’t identify the name of the number holder as it is kept confidential by the company.  Apparently there’s too much money to be lost if the bad numbers were turned off.

The Telemarketers are using old phone lists. They use the name of my deceased father who has been gone for 13 years; they phone and state that the e-mail from “(father’s name) @reborn.net” appears on their request.  The name on the account was discontinued over 13 years ago.  I normally have a very quiet phone with only a few calls a week.

I started receiving these calls for my deceased father on 7-30-08 and have received calls from six or eight a day ever since. Many Telemarketers have started calling with the same pretext.  "We are returning a request so the "Do not call list" doesn't apply to me." many different numbers call.

Since 8-6-08, when I had caller ID and privacy manager installed I have received the following phone calls with hang ups or weird theatrics such as the same person imitating various ethnic accents:

800-809-8813 “US Medical Supply” with numerous names given on 7-30&31-08, this started the chain. 5x
866-852-2520” Lasic Vision Institute” which is/was located in Rancho Cordova. 3x
866-583-1670 A.I.G  “American International- Long Term Care Insurance Group”. 3 x
866-480-0048
800-259-7317
800-519-7502 6 x
240-247-5131
800-258-7317 11 x
800-584-4150 2 x
866-583-1670
800-259-1317
415-545-0073
248-247-5131
800-259-7317

I have caller ID and privacy manager on my landline with ATT and am screening calls.  I am, for now, keeping a log of the numbers.

I don't understand why the appropriate agencies, with the enforcement powers, or the phone companies, don’t respond to the legal issue and customer/tax payer complaints. The "Do not call list" was a good thing but if no action is taken against the "The "I'm returning a request" ruse, it will only get worse.

Maybe we should start requesting our elected officials to respond to their constituents and enforce the law.  We passed a law against being phone spammed so let’s enforce it.  All the enforcing agency has to do is go to the phone company, secure owner information (subpoenas are easy) and take action including fining them and pulling the plug

I don't understand why the FCC or the FTC or the phone companies that we complain to can't do what we did and look at the number of on-line complaints against specific violators.  We pay taxes and phone bills.

All they have to do is call one of these numbers and get on the list. I'm not sure how many civil servants it would take to do this.  It seems like it might be good to have a few knocks on doors by law enforcement and/or the phone company and stop the Ruse of "I'm calling back" with “Do not call list” fines to pay for the effort.

My only suggestions are #1 don’t let them get to you.  Use caller ID and never answer unknown toll free numbers.  Use call screening and if the call is important they can leave a message.

I am going to keep submitting this same post with each toll-free hang up I get from different numbers.

They have no clue who they are calling, or what the number is even. A computer just starts with the first 3 digits of your number, say 555, then 0001, 0002, 0003 and so on until someone answers.

I too signed up for the giveaway. I would like to know if anyone really got a free vacation and what the extra cost was. I would not mind paying a few 100.00 to get a nice vacation even if they said it would be free.I do not think free means 100% free anymore. So if free means huge discount that would still be great for me.

I'm so glad that these people take so long to detail this so called vacation that I WON that is going to COST me 500 dollars, plus the cost of airfare.. I'd rather just go on my own all inclusive beach resort in the carribbean for 800 bucks. Anyways, them taking so long to explain gave me time to google the number and I found this forum! Thanks to everyone who posted, scam or not, I'm glad I realised it was a telemarketer and that I actually didn't sign up for a free cruise. And the comments are right, the sales people are very pushy and the "supervisors" are very rude! I hope I dont hear back from them, I will give them a piece of my mind.

OMG i just got a call from this number, telling me I won a cruise. They told me I entered online or at some trade show... neither would be the case. She told me that she needed me to remember, and I said I didnt, and she's like COME ON WORK WITH ME HERE, WE NEED YOU TO REMEMBER!!! So I said sure? And then she asked for my number, and when I asked why she said JOSHUA I NEED YOUR PHONE NUMBER, WORK WITH ME. Very rude and persistant, so I hung up. I dont give my number to creepy persistant people.

I was reading everyones comments and Ive also been having the exact problem. The curise line was calling asking for my husband which was wierd cause our house phone in only in my name. Then the curise line kept calling , a male would always call and he gave me a name which was JAMES... Now Im only recieving calls but every time I say hello ,no one seems to be on the other side. This would have to be for a couple of weeks now on going and this isnt the only number they are using. This curise line seems to be calling at the same times just after 8:30pm the other number is 1-800-335-8047.What is wrong with these people cant they get real jobs.

Has anyone found a way to stop them from doing this ? Or do we just continue posting up posts and hope that they will just stop.If this continues I will be going to the police. This is bu***hit.

I got the call too but a repeated the phrase several times "I am a Travel Agent" which makes me immediately void. I called CLIA(Cruise Line Industry Association) and told them about Imperial Majesty free cruise offer. Their answer was "We Will Fine Them Monday"(A fine equal to $5,000). I know travel industry and who ever these guys are they just made their biggest mistake to date.

They call my work line EVERY day even on weekends and leave that obnoxious message about a cruise or whatever. When I finally called them to ask them to remove the number from their list today, a woman picked up saying, "hello?". It sounded like someone picking up a phone at home! When she asked me what my name  was, I had to tell them repeatedly that it was a business line under which I am sure my name was NOT listed and that my giving the number should suffice, she raised her voice and finally said, "OK, I'll remove it!"
I wish I could pick up the phone next time they call (I know they will!), however, I'm not at work at 9pm!

These people are Imperial Majesty Cruise Lines. Who have changed their name to Carribean Cruise Lines. They say you must have registered for this phone call otherwise they wouldn't have your number. There are only 2-3 ways of (supposed)registration 1. Online 2. Over the phone (survey) or trade show. If you haven't done any of these, then they are scamming and lieing even about how they got your number. Im not sure how they got the leads but you can eliminate all possiblities by making sure you don't give anyone your name or # for a "FREE" cruise vacation!
