Not happy with USAA. I had a credit card with USAA for 5 years.  Paid on time every month. Our daughter got very sick and we paid a couple of bills late. Our credit score went from 720 to 670.  However our USAA payment was never late.  They apparently check your credit every so often.  They closed the account when I called and asked why they said it was because of the drop in our credit score.  Didn't matter that payment was never late. Not late even once!

I got a call at 8:30 AM from this number.  What good is a DO NOT CALL listing if this continually happens?

We have been with USAA for years. Have had loans with them and even when we ha financial trouble they worked with us.  Maybe it isn't them but you. They are always respectful to me when I call and I am the same o them. Respectfulness and honesty go a long way

Actually they're looking to extort money whether a person owes the debt or not. If they were legitimate, they'd send written validation instead of playing games. If they won't identify themselves, including full address, and provide written verification as required by federal law, they're desperate scammers. Tell them you're recording the call and ask for verification. They'll scatter like cockroaches.

It is USAA looking for a payment on a debt that you owe to them.... ex. credit card, auto loan, etc.

Called this number back, I never picked up calls and decided to figure out who it was.  Brian said they were looking for a Airman, and the number they had was my cell.  Said it would take 48 hours for the number to be taken off the list.  Never asked for my name, or any identifying information.

I have to disagree with this. I'm a third generation vet. Also second generation USAA customer. I've been in jams and had issues with "automated" payments not going through and USAA has always offered fantastic service. This is not Bank of America. It's better.
I challenge you to shop around for services and prices (check those fees guys). You'll more than likely return to USAA. Get on board if you haven't already done so. I have recommended their services for banking, credit, mortgage and home equity lines to many of my NCOs. I've been through touch patches as well, but they have always come through for me.

Uncertain as to the validity of the number or caller .... because
* Call rec'd 10/1/13 around 8:30am ... caller DID NOT identify "USAA" at beginning of call.
* Asked to speak w/my DAUGHTER ... who has NOT LIVED w/me or USED this phone number for years,
AND they used her FORMER MARRIED NAME (divorced a little over 5 years ago).
* When I told caller this, only then did she say it was "USAA Fed Savings Bank" and they would remove this
(my) number from record. (guess I'll have to see if the calls stop)
* I asked if there was any message ...caller said no.  BUT caller also never bothered to ask if I had a number
(or any contact details) where they could reach my daughter.

I don't know if my daughter has any current accounts (including cc's) w/USAA. [One joint bank (not cc) acct was closed as part of the divorce; don't know if the 'ex' had/has any others] ...
So I simply sent call details to my daughter.

USAA ALWAYS asks for your "phone password" on the phone.  It's the entire point of the phone password.

Dial this number.  You get a USAA voice prompt to take you to a USAA representative.  They don't call at odd hours, unless you consider 9:30 am and 11:30 am odd.  It is the number for their credit card department.  They call you if you haven't paid your bill.  If you are paranoid, call 800-531-8722 and get routed to the cc department.  (I wonder how many useless sarcastic responses this will generate)

About a week ago I started getting multiple daily voice mail messages, stating that the call was "from USAA regarding my credit card account" and advising that I should call 800-531-0533 or log in to the USAA site immediately. After searching the USAA web site for a listing of that number, and not finding one, I suspected a possible phishing attempt and logged in to my USAA account instead. As I expected, nothing was amiss - no payments due, no messages from USAA for me, etc. I called the REAL USAA phone number - which answers with an automated system that requests my account number, recognizes my phone, and does not ask for any additional passwords - and spoke with a courteous rep who also looked at my account and reported that USAA had made no attempt to call me, and that I should disregard the calls. She did state that the 0533 number is NOT a listed USAA number - but didn't know if there might be unlisted numbers for certain purposes.

For kicks I called the 0533 number to see what would happen. A real person answered "USAA..." and wanted my account number and phone password. I told her that USAA never asks for my password on the phone and said that I needed more information from her about the nature of her call before I would continue.  She politely declined and hung up.  Bottom line: I don't know if this is a legit USAA collection agent or a phishing scam - but would advise NEVER calling it or divulging any information. If you are a USAA member and receive this call, call their legitimate service number and ask if there is a problem. (And complain about the 0533 calls.)

Survey
This is a number associated with USAA. When I called the main USAA number they said its a phone number for an automated survey used for their customer relations department to see if USAA is meeting the needs of their customers.

It's USAA.  They are leeches.  Despite their ads, USAA is NOT a good company to do business with.  My one remaining account with these slime is current and they still call.  Oh, they ignore written requests not to call.

I have received several calls from this number.  I do not recognize this number.  it is similiar to USAA but they do not leave a message.  I am not aware of anytime that USAA has ever called that they would not have left a message requesting a return call as well as to the reason or general purpose of the call.   Plus is it is USAA why are not not calling my home phone on record?  I find it not to be valid number either.

This is a SCAM. I called USAA and they confirmed that this is NOT one of their numbers. USAA (real number is 800-531-2265) instructed me to report the number and the call to abuse@usaa.com. Anyone on here telling you that it's legit is probably working for the scam!
