Debt Collector
I have gotten a few calls over the past few months from an Andrew Vega from process service verification department. He leaves messages saying there's a complaint in their office pending legal action against me and that I need to call them asap. He has also called my parents, mother in law, my job. Today my number must have been on blast because they made multiple calls to myself and my family members. I decided to call back and got into it with a most unprofessional, insulting loser. Told them to quit calling my family and that all the applicable agencies I can file a complaint with will hear about it from me. He didn't like me telling him he was a lowlife scammer and to get a real job. F these scummers.

I got a call from these people but ignored it. I am a paralegal so I know how these things really work and how actual criminal and civil case numbers read. I only called them because they called my parents making threats about serving me papers on a lawsuit. The guy was rude and demeaning especially when I wouldn't confirm my social secirity number. I asked for a state BAR number and what state they were licensed to practice in. He refused. After him calling back several more times I contacted my local FBI office who took the complaint, told me to trust my gut, and nothing I was told was accurate. They advised me to file a report with my local police department since a threatening message was left for me which I have done. They also advised me to tell them that if a lawsuit is going to be filed then let it be filed that way I am dealing directly with the court.

I JUST went thru this Friday. My husband passed away 3 years ago abd it left me indigent. I received a call at 3 different numbers saying the process server was trying to locate me and that if I paid it would stop this. When I explained about the dearth and that it has left me basically poverty stricken and that I an trying to recover, he got nasty and told me that I was a scumbag. I didn't pay that day but said that I would next week until doing the research and finding all that I have.

They are typical kitchen-table debt scammers.  Law enforcement could find them, since they are using (apparently) a UPS mail drop in Southern California.  See previous comments.  I think this might be a Vietnamese based group.  They can't be located too far from the UPS drop on Las Tunas in the San Gabriel area of Southern California.

Report them to the local police for the locations of their mail drop.

Send them a Cease and Desist request.

See previous comments.

I received a call to Wade Wilson, if that's even his name. He told me I was being sued and had been served to go to court. Once he realized his lies regarding this matter and true reason for calling no longer made sense and he could not explain pertinent facts regarding the court or case, he resulted to personal insults towards me and hung the phone up... I say lets band together in a class action case and file against them...

>>> Perform a "Chain of Title" search from the initial creditor to verify who owns the debt. <<<

Actually, that's the debt collector's responsibility, not the debtor's.

Also, there's no such thing as a "chain of title" search for an unsecured debt, because there is no place to record transfers of this type of debt.  A transfer can occur without ever having been recorded, and without notice to the debtor.  That's one of the reasons the FDCPA exists -- to get rid of the problem of people claiming to be creditors, but who are impostors.  Paying an impostor will only make you poorer.  It won't extinguish your debt no matter what kind of fancy letter they give you, if any.

If you are legally entitled to collect on a debt, then why are you on the phone lying? One of your collection agents, Wade Wilson, told me that you"re a law office.  How funny that he couldn't give me a single attorney's name or bar number. The guy was a raging a***ole who wasn't even smart enough to lie with facts.

I called 800-539-1931 because they kept calling harassing my mother saying to contact them. I asked what the matter was over and what their company did. They got cocky saying I didn't need to know. They were incredibly rude calling me names, saying I was an idiot and have no education. I was very polite through the call and he kept saying, come on call me names I'm recording you I know you want to yell go ahead. I told him I was not going to do that. He kept calling me a liar as well. He said my mother owed something on her credit report, I stated she had her identity stolen a few years back and has an ongoing investigation. He then said she's lying because she had a 6 year relationship with the guy. I asked who and he wouldn't tell me. Well my mother has been with my dad over 18 years now so I know that was a lie. The name I was given was Mr.Wilson. He was also talking to the person next to him saying he was speaking to an idiot and laughing. I assume they put it on speaker because then I heard both voices snickering and being rude. After over an hour on the phone I finally had enough of him beating around the bush and not answering me. It's definitely fraud. Also another clue to me was he was asking for my mom by her previous last name. I told him I'd contact our courts and ask about the case and he said the courts don't have the records, I then asked him for a subpoena and he told me they don't serve them. You can't have a court date with no court records or subpoenas. DO NOT GIVE THEM INFO OR FALL FOR THIS!
Sorry for the novel but I don't want anyone to fall victim and just sharing my experience as I'm sure others can relate!

Got 3 calls from this guy. He identified himself as Andrew Vega. Called my parents home too. Same story as many here. Said he is from the process service and verification dept. [no company name given] and is calling in reference to a complaint filed at this office. He said that I'm on a roster to be served and I need to call 800-539-1931 to discuss this matter. This guy has the ability to mask the number he is calling from. On my caller id log, it shows no record of his calls but there are other unavailable/blocked numbers that are logged in at different times. The way I know this is from the time stamp on my message machine.

Thanks to this site and based on the blatant vagueness and secretiveness of his call, I realize this is a scam and will avoid this guy.

Debt collection is a process - if you owe money, you won't hear about it first through a phone call saying you'll be "served".  BTW, no one gets a heads up they'll be served - it would sort of defeat the point.

This company called my job saying they will serve me with papers at work. When I called the 800-539-1931, they refused to tell me the state they were doing business in, what the "CK" stands for, and how to contact the process servers. They also told me that their number would never show up in my caller id. When I asked why they were being so ambigious in their identity, the man stated, "Is this a word you just learned today?" This clearly told me he was a scam.

I got the same thing re: lane Bryant!!!! I'm so glad I saw this too. This number is listed all over the reverse look ups. I contacted a lawyer friend of mine who said they broke about 3 fair credit laws when speaking with me and the 5 days waiting period to send a letter to validate debt since first speaking with me has far surpassed. Like many others wrote above... they are extremely rude and threatening and a complete scam!

got a call for some one with the same name as mine or my sons. the caller was very indignant and insulting and was (I suspect)
trying to get money or information I hung up on them and called the number back and supposedly got a supervisor who apologized and said my number would be removed from the list. The state attorney generals office will be getting an official call from me in regard to this.

Omg the exact same thing happened to me. 7 year old debt to Lane Bryant. They called my mom saying they were a law firm and had a subpoena for me. They said they have been trying to contact me and sent letters to my house but this is the first I've heard from them. They had my old address and my current address but not the apartment number. I was stupid and gave it to them. I didn't give them my card number though. I set up payments with them but looking on here, plus the fact that the agreement he sent to me went to my spam folder, I'm thinking I'm going to ignore it and go to a credit counselor.
