calling every day two or three times a day... never anyone on the line

we are on the do not call list... please advise what re course we have

Got the same call as everyone above but caller ID said 866-370-6555.  The number they told me to call however was 800-540-1288 x1722 and the name was James.  Interesting that he has been able to keep doing this for so long.  Unless that is the name they always use and it is really several different people.

for those people faxing, they probably use e-fax... these companies dont actually have a paper fax laying around so dont waste your time faxing. i also got a call from them several times and reported it to the DNC website.

I called and had a conversation with Meredian. To get them to stop you have to "opt out" with your mortgage company. Your company has "partnered" with Meredian to solicit refinancing. I called my mortgage company who in turn provided me with their "Privacy Center" contact number. It seems to me it should be the other way around. I think I should have approved releasing my personal finance information and not the other way aroud. Hopefully it stops.

These people just called me this morning. Linda had a better mortgage offer for me and wanted me to call some guy at an 866 number in the next three days and  to hurry! this would be the only call I get (somehow I doubt that)

But the real reason I wanted to write this here is because my phone did not ring when they called because I was using the P2P caller ID manager http://person-to-person.net/ I do not work for the company, I'm a regular joe just like you who last month finally got fed up with getting 14 calls from 4 different 800 numbers in the span of 6 days, and decided to do something about it. The calls ranged in time from 8:30AM to 8 PM and came through even twice on a Sunday! I work very odd hours and varying shifts so pretty much whenever they were calling me they were waking me up out of a sound sleep. After finding out that my local phone company's caller blocking feature was powerless to block calls from toll free numbers (will only block calls from local calling area, useless to me) I decided to search the net for something that would work. And I found this place with the website noted above. It's a hundred bucks, not cheap, but not having to go back to work on two hours sleep because I was woken up several times by tele-stalkers is worth it's weight in gold to me, and so is this product. If you are in the same situation I am, give this website a try and make your own decision. It's working for me, I can attest to that. These tele-stalkers this morning would've woken me up this morning at 9am after just working an overnight till 4:30am but instead the phones were silent and I just heard their voicemail when I woke up. Ha-ha! it works! This was the first time it kicked in since I just got it recently. Like I said, give it a look and make your own decision.

I just found more information on thsi company ... the name is not Meridian, its Meredian.  Google didn't show this information, only Yahoo.

I also received a call from 800-540-1533 (per caller ID) with a message on my answering machine to call 800-540-1288 x 7204 regarding a reduction in my existing mortgage rate (which is higher than my current rate).  The offer was only good for 3 business days, they said.  When I asked for more information on who they represent, he stated that they represent 100's of banks & if I don't have a consolidation loan or line of equity they wouldn't be able to help me.  I asked to be taken off of their list & he told me that I just need to hit a button & hung up on me.

Have been getting up to 5 calls daily for the last 2 weeks from various 800 & 888 numbers, including this one. Never an answer!!

You left out the date. The call came in at 3:38pm on July 16.

Call came at 3:38pm PST and woke me up from a sound sleep. No one was on the line. When I called back, I got a fax tone. Then I entered the number into the computer and found this site. We are on the DO NOT CALL LIST. Why are these annoying calls continuing? How long does it take to silence an offending number?

I picked up the phone and the line was dead.  The number calling was 800-540-1533.

I received a call this afternoon and they left a message saying the exact same thing. I called them back this evening and a guy answered saying "Underwriting".  When I told him what the message had said, he asked me what my balance on my mortgage was.  He told me he could lower my payment and when I said no thank you to the amount he told me, he said "then why did you call"? I asked him who he was with and he immediately hung up.  I agree - SMELLS LIKE A SCAM!!!!!

Call came in from Linda at 8000-540-1533 to call James back at 800-540-1288 x1722 on my mortgage for which I have three business days to get with them.

ONE PROBLEM:  The offer is for a 30-year mortgage with a fixed rate of 5.875% while my mortgage is a 15-year mortgage fixed at 5.875% which I took out in Nov 2001.  I don't think this adds up right....

I received a call on my voice mail from these people, which fortunately records the incoming information also.  The calling number was reported as 800-540-1533, but the number I was told to call, like many above, was 800-540-1288 x1722.

The call claimed to be from the senior underwriter on my mortgage...which is funny, because there is no mortgage on this property!

I am on the do not call registry and I am going to report them at www.donotcall.gov, and I encourage anyone else who is on the registry and received a call to do the same!

Received call around noon Eastern time, said Hello a few times with no repsonse, so hung up.

Got a call from this number today at 4:30pm EST. When I called back, I got a fax machine as others have already stated. My number has been on the Do Not Call Registry for over a year. I searched for the number in google and found this site.

Just got a call from the 800-540-1533 and called the posted number 800-540-1288 and had them take my number of the list. Next time this happens I will be complaining.

The call came in at 2:40 PM, when I answered hello there was no one there.  I have been receiving these calls lately and have not paid much attention.  Today however I decided to go on line to find out anything I could about this number and found this site.

SENT BACK A REAM OF PAPERS TO THE NUMBER, SINCE ITS A FAX MACHINE. IF EVERYONE DOES IT, THEWY WILL RUN OUT OF PAPER CONSTATNNTLY!!

We have been receiving phone calls from 800-540-1533 around 8:00 am and when we answer, as the previous message indicates, we'll say "Hello?" several times and no one answers us.  This is very annoying and increasing in frequency.  When we tried to call the number to have them stop calling, the ring tone sounded like it was a fax number, and no one answered after 10 rings.

We'd like to know who to contact to put a stop to these early morning calls.  We are on the national Do Not Call list.

Called 9:00 a.m.  800-540-1533.  I answered.  The number said nothing and hung up.  I figure that the computer does the dialing, and then when you answer the person who is to talk looks at the DNC list and sees your number and lets it go by.  That's the only way to explain how some of us get a message or person and others get just a hang up.  I'm reporting them, as I'm on the DNC list and I have their name and number.  :)  To register for DNC list go to www.donotcall.gov and you can also file complaints there.

They called today and did not leave a message. They have called before, about 3 months ago, they called every day for a week, never leaving a message. When I finially answered, they refused to take "no" as an answer, refused to remove my name from their list, and finally hung up on me when I told them they were harassing me and that I was on the DNC list.

Looks like they are starting all over again with their harassment. I usually feel bad about being rude to telemarketers --even to fraudulent ones-- but these guys are just plain jerks.

I am getting the same calls from this number.

I am now FAXING a 1000 page document to this number....
Should tie up things for someone over there for a while.

If nothing else, they will be charged for the hours of time it will take to FAX this document!

I got the same call, about "my existing mortgage" from "my senior underwriter"... so I called my credit union first since that's the only mortgage I have. They have NO affiliation with any outside underwriters, and didn't envoke the call.

I called the number, got a recording that was just as ambiguous as the voice mail, still not idenitifying who they were... eventually spoke James, the company name is Meridian Loan Services and he attempted to explain that my credit unio wouldn't be aware of the wholesale offerings, since they are the retail side.. Credit union denies any affiliation at all with this company, wholesale-retail is not a valid point.

This seems to be just another annnoying telemarketing plan to try to get people to refinance, when I stated I was on the National Do Not Call, they hung up.

Not sure if anything they are doing is illegal, but the message left stating that they are my existing underwriter and existing mortgage is completely false, so I would never do any type of business with them.
