Its hilarious all the time people spend online talking crap about collectors instead of crunching numbers and/or figuring out to keep their bills current and stay out of this mess in the firstplace! Im appaled at the hate all of yous are directing not only towards collectors but buffalo..yes i once worked for CI and like any other place or field of work there are ROTTEN APPLES! please dont lump us in with the rest of the bad collectors just like you's dont deserve to be lumped in with the actual dead-beats who attempt to de-fraud credit card companies and/or dont pay their bills.

They probably would prefer to collect the money quickly as opposed to filing a lien. Check with your attorney so you'll know what protections are available to you in your state regarding debts.

I have had three calls on my cell phone from this number - no one ever left a message.  I am glad to know who it is now and I have blocked the number on my phone.  What is weird is that I hardly give my cell # to anyone.  We are on a debt management program and have been for 1-1/2 years, so they would have no reason to be calling us anyway.

I kept getting calls from this number, stating a name that was not me.  The message said to press 1 if you were that person, press 2 if you are not that person.  I kept pressing 2 each time my phone rang, because I was not the person they were calling.  Silly me - I thought the calls would stop.  They didn't.  I got three or four a day - for a few months.  Finally, today, I called the number back, and talked to a nice gentleman who verified my name versus the one they were calling for, and he assured me my phone number would be put on the "do not call this number list".  That better happen, dude, otherwise, I will be reporting you to the FCC.  And some lady named Cheryl who gave this agency MY phone number is getting lots of bad karma wishes from me.

get a real job, scumsucker. some people ACTUALLY have hardship in their lives and a company that buys bad debts at a reduced price and then tries to EXTORT the money is violating collection law.

I keep getting phone calls from them twice a day. One call I'm okay with but twice that is harassment. They keep saying it's from Debtors Company. I think that is not correct.

There are legitimate and/or personal reasons that someone cannot pay a bill. Most people don't pay a bill because they don't have the money not because they simply decided not to pay. Who would want to put up with the harassment from the collection agency scumbags who can't find a "real" job? You can't pay when you don't have the money and in that case you should consider filing bankruptcy.

Yup! Some guy trying to sound like an attorney contacting us for "breech of contract". Yes, we are in financial difficulty and have worked with our creditors successfully.  However, this situation is a different "animal". Scare tactics and intimidation shall backfire. They can bank on it. There is no excuse for their BS.

Is creditors intercharge the same thing as creditors exchange, they are also from buffalo New York.  I made some stupid mistakes dealing with them, but hope that it all got worked out.  They did the same thing, telling me that they were from the litigation department and that I was going to have a suit put in place the next day.  The scare tactic worked, and I set up a setlment with them.  Post dated, because I was to be getting some money in, and had already planned on using it to get out of credit companies anyway.  Well I told them I would need a letter saying it was a settlement, and they would not ask me for more money, they never sent it.  I asked twice, and didnt call back the third time till it was the day of, and they were already processing the check.  Well the next day in the mail I get a letter saying that I owe them $75 dollars a month until the debt is payed, and my settlment is just a down payment.  I stopped payment on the check, and am praying that the bank is still able to stop it.  Im so mad at myself for letting this happen, and getting swindled by them. I called, they kept trying to convince me that in their computors my account is zeoroed out, and that the letter was a mistake.  Of course I dont believe that for a minute.  Just be really careful dealing with these people, dont make the same mistakes I did.

You are one of the ones who give a bad rap to honest people who want to pay and are willing to take the responsibility.  You were "playin" the credit company?  I actually looked at this site because I did not like how the collectors were conducting themselves when they contacted me, now I get a better idea of why they develop the attitude they do.  Yes, "free lending" resulted in a bad economy but people with your attitude of "somebody else take the blame for my poor judgment" will keep the economy tanked as you so eloquently phrase it!

aint got the cash , can't pay, screw you. shouldn't have given the credit. don't be hatin on me cause you got played. The state protects us from predators like the ones on this site, and predatory lending is what tanked the economy.

They keep calling my home asking for someone I do not know.  I told "Mr. Hamptons" several times he had the wrong number and to stop calling.  He told me I was a lier and he would keep calling. He does he calls every damn day with important information for some chic I never heard of.  They are very rude ! No wonder debtors don't want to deal with them. I asked for mailing address and he refused to give it to me. Well if I were this person who owed$ I couldn't mail a check !

Gee you must work for Creditors Interchange - there are actually people out there in the debt collection world that act in a professional manner and want to work with you to resolve bad debt.  Who are you to call someone a scum bag - you do not know the circumstances of why this person owes money - it could be that their spouse died - very rude of you to make a comment like that.  One thing is for sure...the people from Creditors Interchange (most likely you) are incredibly rude, threatening and unbearable...I'm sure you have owed money to someone at some point in your life....you should feel so proud for insulting people.

Thanks - I did file a complaint. I found myself literally talking into space when trying to work with these folks.  I am not sure what their story is, as it changes throughout in accordance to their need.  Very sad group of people.  I am not opposed to or trying to deny any debts.  However if, something has happened to prevent me from paying a small monthly payment, why would any reasonable rational person think it would be easier to pay 10x the amount?

I really do not think most people go in debt intentionally, running up credit cards with extravagant spending and frivolous purchases (yes some do).  We as a society are currently in a time where even Wall Street, major long established banking institutions and manufacturers (automakers looking to the government for help) are in over their heads and looking for some help.  In their words a ?bail-out!  Everyone is struggling like never before or at least not in recent memory.

Collection company employees are paid by what the collect.  The tougher they are the faster they THINK they will collect.  Ironically as they lecture on the legalities and illegal practices of the debtor, many times they are as cited in above postings, breaking the laws that govern them.  I believe they have a bit of security in the fact that most of those who owe money and are in collection have a strong enough ethic fiber to feel truly guilty that they are in the situation they are.  I, myself would not want to trade places with them, although I would like to teach them a little about kindness, compassion, and the fact that in many cases less is more.  Meaning if they would use less force, and more consideration of the individual circumstances they would in many cases be much more successful.

Debtors need to remember to be truthful, forthcoming and willing to listen and work with the collector.  at least attempt to make arrangements that can be met. If the situation changes, contact the agency and re-negotiate . Communication should keep things from escalating to the point of no return and both parties loosing.

I truly doubt things are going to improve all that quickly and everyone on both sides will need to practice more patience.  So to all of us I say GOOD LUCK and it might help if we all treat each other, as we would want to be treated.

P.S. yes I have debt and yes I have been pursued by collectors, and I know who I pay first; The ones that will talk to me and NOT at me.

I think calling anyone a scum bag is uncalled for regardless of the situation.  I am having financial problems and I work 80 hours a week.  My husband was sick and I am seriously behind on some bills which has this place calling me.  If you have never had financial problems, don't assume that we "don't pay our bills"...There is no reason for these people to threaten anyone, much less a teenage boy.  I have had the same job for 13 years and I have a second job to try and rectify this situation.  Some places won't work with you no matter how hard you try to compromise.  So lets stop the name calling until you know the whole story.
