i have no doubtt that it is sce and i do pay my bill late all the time because of my paycheck schedule vs when the bill is due. But I've never, ever been contacted by them before as a proactive measure to make payment arrangements. They've suggested it in a bill once because the amount due was a lot higher than any in the past, but never a phone call. I'll just stick to my tried & true method of going on line and making my payment as usual.

All's not well in Denmark. Actually, I'm in Long Beach, CA, and I received a call at about 6:16 PM this evening. My # is a new cell # and it has never been given to them. I returned the call (800-551-4499) to get a recording that stated that my last payment had been received and that I had a zero balance. So how did they get my cell # and decide it was me? This is not the 1st time that I have received a strange call from a business that I did not give my cell # out.

This is definitely Southern California Edison. I answered the call. I was late on my bill because of our employment situation. They are pretty nice people and will work with you to get your bill paid. I would answer it in the future if you get that number calling you again.

I live in San Diego and do not use So Cal Edison. However, my mom lives in an area that used them. I don't know why they would be calling me... I ignored the call to come on here and see if anybody else knew who they were. They didn't leave a message but I called the number back and it was indeed So Cal Edison. Oh well...guess I'll let my mom know in case they were trying to reach her.

I got a call last Friday about my Edison bill.  The lady explained that there was a payment missed back in November and that it was way past due and along with my current bill, they were ready to disconnect my services.  She was very nice and said I could go on a payment plan for a few months to catch up and that when I was ready to make the first payment, to call their financial department first.  Yesterday I was ready to make that payment and I called the number that she gave me.  I sat thru 20 minutes of recorded messages and loud music before a woman answered.  When I explained why I was calling, she said that according to the notes on my account, I was supposed to make the payment first and then call Edison.  Ok, so I said I will go make the payment and call you back.   (I just love how every person that you talk to tells you something different).  I went online and made the payment, and called back.  Now I get yet another woman who I explain everything to and she says that I could have made the payment with her.  Yea ok.

Long story short, this number is Edison and they call you if there is a problem with your account and they are ready to disconnect your service.  It is a courtesy call.  It would be wise to call them back if they call you even tho the wait times are ridiculous and the music stinks.

It's not a scam. It is Southern California Edison, which I do not use; as other posts indicate, it was just a wrong number situation. Annoying, yes, but hardly a hanging offense. (Although I concede I was a trifle put off by the rep's nochalance in saying, "Just disregard the call, this happens all the time." I thought at least a perfunctory "Sorry for the inconvenience" would not have been out of line)

This number is to Southern California Edison. I believe this is from their billing department because they called when my bill was past due. When I called back, the automated options were billing and payment related.

I just called Edison and there's nothing outstanding on my account.  Strange thing about it is that the call was to what was my secondary phone number on the account and not my primary.  If it's Edison then so be it but it's strange that the automated message on my voice mails from this number would be calling my secondary number and not the primary.

If it's from Edison, I'm not sure why they'd be calling me for some late payment.  I'm on an auto-pay from my checking account and I've always had adequate funds to cover.

I keep getting calls from this number- no one answers me or leaves a message.  I called it back and found, like many of the posts, that it was Southern California Edison.  They put me on hold forever and I ended up having to hang up.  The problem is I live in Nebraska and have never used a utility co from Cal, so they obviously have the wrong number- very annoying.

It is a scam. I do not think it is a utility company. I do not pay utilities; are included in my rent.

From Southern California Edison:
Let it ring through, no message so I called back got in the HOLD cue, then was given opportunity to extend deadline. I took that choice (pressing option 2) and ...

Looking at my checkbook I found that the check I wrote to on the Oct 15th for a past due bill (due Oct 5th) never reached them. Maybe I forgot to mail, not sure, anyway, on an automated system I was able to extend the due date by splitting the total of Oct 5 due date and Nov 4 due date for next month. I will pay first half Nov. 12 and the remainder on Nov. 29. So, they will extend the time line. Better to call and fix the problem so they don't shut your electricity off, and will cost lots more to get reconnected.

It was painless and proactive. I recommend not letting the call slide.

I just called Southern California Edison after having been called by 800-551-4499.  All of my payments are current.  I got the call because someone else who had my telephone before it was assigned to me (I have had the same home telephone number for over two years now) is not current on his payments and never updated his phone number.  Edison cannot change the telephone number in its system because any account information must be changed by the account holder.  This may be the reason why so many people are getting calls for delinquent payments who are current.
