It works. If you call back, push 3 immediately to have your number placed on the do not call list. Type in your number, press 1, wait to hear confirmation and you're done. Hopefully, they will not call anymore.

Hi Josh,
Silly question, but do you, or have you ever been hired to sign mortgage or legal paperwork of any within the last several years.
thanks

They called me; no message - I didn't answer, my answering machine picked up but they hung up before the prompt to leave a message. I didn't bother calling back, and they didn't call again. I love this website; I hate not knowing who's calling, this site provides much peace of mind.
I am curious why the other poster has an eight hundred number. Can anyone get an eight hundred number?

Someone called from this number and asked for me. When I said "speaking", they hung up. Now that was CREEPY.

They called me again today; no message - and once again I didn't have time to answer.
Since I work a graveyard shift I am usually asleep or at least trying to sleep this time of day - like yesterday before I could even start toward the phone my answering machine picked up - and once again these fine people hung up before the prompt to leave a message.
Well thanks to this site at least I know it's nothing to worry about just telemarketers trying to get my money. Thanks for the advice I'll get myself on the "Do Not Call" list first chance I get!!

Who is this caller and how can I stop them? They call everyday around 4:30 PM and there is no one there. I hate that.
| Kitty 2011-06-06 20:58:03 Unknown |
It is Wells Fargo. They can call me because I have a business relationship with them (my mortgage). Asking them not to call usually doesn't keep them from calling again in a few months. If you have had no business relationship with Wells Fargo, and haven't for x years, then you shouldn't be called any more. You also don't have to re-register for the national do-not-call list.

They call every single day three times a day. No one ever says a word. Today I decided to call the number 1800-553-1077 and it said its some sort of "Insurance" company called "Insurance Services". Totally unnerving how many times a day they call. I'm blocking them now.

After several calls ignored, I answered the phone by stating that I was not interested in buying whatever they were selling. A dark male voice answered, "You will certainly want what we are selling. How would you like a pony? If you had a pony you could ride it to work and save all kinds of money on gas." I hung up. I'll let the machine pick up from now on.

This is a number that my mom has found is also for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. They contact her from this number at least twice a day. Between this number and their other one 651-967-0338 my Mom can get five calls a day from the Press trying to get her to subscribe.

We get these calls... from various 800 numbers, including the subject number. My wife usually answers the phone, but I tried it on one of the 800 numbers... when I got a person and found out it was a solicitation (keeping in mind that this number had been calling here for a couple of weeks before I answered instead of my wife) I did the low-class thing and unleashed a string of invectives that would embarrass a sailor. Ya know what? We no longer get calls from that 800 number!
Soooo, I have to try this again on another one. My wife hates the idea, but HEY, that's her job :)
If it works on another 800, I'll post it here. Distasteful as it is, if it works I'm gonna keep doing it.
Regards,
XLXRider

This number calls me every day 6-8 times a day, 7 days a week. I'm tried of this number calling me, and I want it to STOP1111
| notinterested 2011-06-06 20:58:03 Unknown |
The number is from National Union Fire Insurance Co. They received the number from an "affiliate" like Citimortgage, a loophole that lets them call you without violating the DoNotCall law.
You can do two things.
First, you can call Citimortgage if you are a client and ask them to remove your name from any marketing lists they share with others.
Second, you can call the CEO of National Union at his home. His company calls you at your home, so why would he mind if you call him? His name is John Q Doyle, and his number in Rye, NY is (914) 921-3436.

NO NAME ON ID

This number has called three times in the past week. I've reported them to the National Do Not Call Registry.
They have said they represent my bank, a fire insurance company, and have asked if I would like to lower my credit card rates. My caller ID indicates the name of the firm is always "unavailable" but the 800 phone number remains the same.

I just received a call from 800-553-1077 and I did NOT answer; instead I called them back and learned they are "Insurance Services". I chose option 2 which states I am not interested in their services so they will NOT call me in the future!

These tools just called me. I noticed many on here have Wells Fargo service and also have been told by WF that they are not releasing their info. Well, I have Wells Fargo also, so I think they are just plain lying to everyone. I have voip svc, so I have just blocked the number.

Who says "Yes, I'll take it." to these people? I'm 41 years old and I can honestly say that I have never met a person who has actually bought from an entity that markets their product via the telephone. I have been in the telecom business for 15 years. I have a M.S. in Telecom. And I once asked the then president of one of the country’s largest cable and communications companies during a seminar point blank, "For GAWD sakes, why telemarketing?" And his answer was short and simple, "Because it works." People actually pick up the phone and say, "I'll take it." If you want this to stop, you have to educate people not to buy from telemarketers. As long as people buy over the phone, there will always be people selling over the phone; regardless of whether the call to sell ration is 100,000 to 1. With call servers, auto-generating millions of calls per day and keeping sales staff low, it’s easy to push their product on you and cheap. But, hey, it could be worse; you could be getting a knock on your door 10 times a day.
