These turkeys called and asked for someone that has never had this number and the name was not even close to mine. I told them they had the wrong number and to try the online telephone books to get the number of the person. They called back over 4 times. CHASE needs to get a competent collection agency and if I remember from helping them install their computer systems, they have an internal collection group. I will do as little as possible with Chase after this harrassment.

This number calls me several times a day, I do not answer 800 numbers. They never leave a message and no no one answers when you call them. I heard that there is a service people set up and every time someone calls them back, they collect money, not sure how it works but people say never call them back, is just putting money in their pockets. That number is blocked for me now.

800 555 0433 IS Chase Bank checking and savings account COLLECTIONS. There is no customer service because ALL calls must be kept short and fast so that the next call be taken. It is Collections at Chase Bank call center and they are not supposed to leave messages because it is collections and if a message is left then someone else may hear that you owe money. There is no caller ID when you call in which is why they ask for your information to look you up. If its a wrong number then give the person your number so that they can delete it. Your street address is also verified at the end of the call. Its just policy for collections. The collections is located in Texas, Ohio, and India. Which is why there is a universal 800 number on the caller ID. Also if you want your fees waived then be NICE to the operator because EVERYTHING you say goes into the notes in your account.

As per the FDCPA, no one should pay any caller who refuses to MAIL a debt validation letter proving they owe a debt to the the caller. This is your right as a consumer. Callers who refuse to mail a DV letter are violating federal law and should not be paid.
Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

After reporting these guys as a scam a couple of times, turns out they aren't. They are GC services of Mesa Arizona and they are a DEBT COLLECTOR. I ignored the calls at first because I read it was a phishing scam and when I read they were a debt collector I was CERTAIN I didn't have any outstanding debts. Well, I was wrong. I was still leery they were a scam so ran a credit report (You get 1 free per year from Equifax), and found I had LIBRARY FINES in collection. I had no idea, I moved out of state. So I went to the library's online site, paid them, and hopefully the calls will stop. Moral of the story, don't trust your teenager to return your library books.
It is an unfortunate reality that some people have to be 'tricked' into paying what they owe. If they ask you for information about your account, they are trying to get enough info to take the money covertly. I wouldn't give them any info either way, just pay what you owe directly to your creditor. I suspect they get a commission, and anyone who calls me 50 times and doesn't leave an honest message isn't going to get a cent from me.

Okay, to get any questions about whether I work for Chase or not out of the way, I am posting this as my real name and my Twitter handle (@BearlyDoug). I'm a Sports Media personality and co-host of Two Cents Radio (TwoCentsRadio.net).
I am a customer of JP Morgan Chase (through their acquisition of Washington Mutual) and received a call from this number (800-555-0433) today. I had overdrafted my account accidentally, and it took me a little bit of time to get it brought back current.
This number is 100% legitimate. I contacted Chase via 800-935-9935 (number listed on the site) and the customer service rep confirmed that the first number above is legitimate.
No company is perfect. Sometimes they will call someone that doesn't have an account with them. In most cases, it's because of a mistyped number. Be patient and polite if you're speaking with them. Do not be afraid to contact Chase via any of the methods listed on Chase.com to verify that this is a legitimate call. You do not need to provide any information until you are satisfied that this is not a scam. Sometimes a little due diligence on your part goes a long way to protecting your own financial security.
Again, I do not work for Chase; they couldn't pay me enough for some of the hassles they deal with, haha!
