I received a phone call with the caller I.D. # 800-555-1212. I picked up because like others I thought it was AT&T. the woman called me by my first name,Isaid hello. Then she asked "is this (my 1st. name) I said yes, then she hung up.I'm concerned because they may try to use my "yes" response as a way to force me to purchase. After reading other posts I see that it is a scam. I'm reporting this so I have documentation of this scam call. the call was made 06-05-2014 between 1P.M. & 1:30 P.M.

I have been receiving calls from 18005551212. This is a SCAM. I called my service provider and was told that I needed to block the number. They are calling to try to sell you magazines. They are using an app that makes it look like you are getting a call from ATT business services information. If you get this call please report it to your provider. They have called me two days in a row and they are ruthless. Please report them to help stop them.

They call me 4-5 times per day. I don't answer, and they don't leave a message. I too have been sucked into the "magazine" scam in the past and found I was receiving magazines for about $50 per month. That was tied into a purchase I made for a product "as seen on TV". The magazines are different every couple of months and are ones I wouldn't read anyway. Golf Digest??? Are you kidding me? I too am past the cancellation period. I thought I was getting sample magazines to choose which one (s) I would be interested in buying.

Got a call from 800-555-1212. They told me they were from a magazine subscription service and told me that people were being overcharged and I shouldn't pay anything more. Then they asked me if I still lived at the same address, I gave them my new address, (stupid). They then asked my age to verify my identity, I gave it to them (stupid). I shouldn't have answered anything. They knew my name, hmmm. I'll call my bank tomorrow I guess

I got a phone call from this number and answered it.  They told me they had me up for automatic renewal of a magazine for 79 dollars a month for 5 years.  I told them I did not want the magazines and did not order any.  They had my address and name and started asking me questions- I did not give them any credit card numbers but am now nervous they will start charging my card. Guess I need to now watch my statements!

1-888-483-5108....This number actually called my daughter looking for me., so I had her put it on speaker so I could listen. My daughter then finally asked who are you and what do you want. Lady never stated they were a "so called" Collection Agency, or attempting to collect a debt. Nothing but said she was looking for me (HER MOTHER). The lady on other line knew our address and said she "was building a case against me" but wanted to first here my story!!! She has our address and our phone numbers. How and Why??? I have researched this company and they prey on people. THIS IS A SCAM... Please review any and all phone numbers you receive. There were several other numbers that called my phone & daughter phone too. 948-000-0010 something to that effect. As I researched there were Many, Many,Many Collection agency scams and complaints which I found on Complaintwire. Please research phone numbers and companies before you get scammed. Some do not even exist or are working under other names. Please be aware.... I will report to FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and save any documents from these scam scum!!! VERY CREEPY...

I got a call from this number today they claimed I had signed up 2 1/2 years ago for free magazines, which I might add I never did...... They were saying my account was on hold and that I was currently delinquent (hummmm well than why have I never seen a bill.)   I told them I never ordered any magazines, received magazines, and or authorized anything of the sort nor would I pay for it ... that was the end of the call they hung up!

This has to be a scam as every time i get these offers I ask what is the catch and follow with no.  Nothing in life is free nor do I want it when they start asking for my payment info.......

A huge scam.  They call, hounding you, telling you that you owe "x" dollars for magazines (that, of course, you never ordered) and that they are prepared to offer you a "deal" that will save you money as the "new" rate is cheaper than the rate your currently have, although, of course you have no current rate because you never ordered the magazines.  When you tell them you never ordered any magazines so you have no clue what they are talking about they become nasty and insulting.  Don't answer the phone - they will try to convince you that you simply don't remember ordering.  They lie and try to convince you that you are the bad guy.

I have received two phone calls from this number today. The male on the other end is informing me that I have a magazine subscription and the fees are being withdrawn from my visa card. I have notified him several times that I do not receive magazines and I am not being charged for anything. He then proceeds to tell me to "stop it" several times and becomes very rude and hangs up on me. When he called me the second time I asked to be removed from the call list and he said he couldnt because it had to be taken care of, I again informed him I receive nothing and want nothing he again tell me to "stop it'. I will not put up with these phone calls.

I RECEIVED THE SAME CALL FROM 800-555-1212 STATING THAT I DID NOT CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP IN THE TIME FRAME. I TOLD THE GUY THAT THE LADY WHO I SPOKE WITH CANCELLED EVERYTHING AND THAT BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY ORDERED THE MAGAZINES THAT I WOULD STILL GET THEM BUT I WONT BE CHARGED. HE SD YES HE SEES SOME NOTES IN HIS COMPUTER OF SOME SORT. THEN HE STARTED TO GIVE ME PRICES AND ASKED THAT HE CAN GIVE ME DISCOUNTS. I HAD TO CUT HIM OFF TO SAY I AM NOT PAYING ANYTHING BECAUSE AS I TOLD YOU BEFORE I CANCELLED EVERYTHING ALREADY. HE THEN SAID THE COMPANY PREPAID FOR THE MAGAZINES AND SHORTLY I WILL START TO GET CHARGED. I TOLD HIM THAT I WILL CALL MY BANK TO LET THEM TO KNOW TO BLOCK ANY PAYMENTS FROM MAGAZINE COMPANIES, HE SAID THAT I WILL BE COMMITTING FRAUD. TOLD HIM I WANT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE HIGHER THEN HIM, HE SAID THERE IS NO ONE AND HE WILL SEND MY ACCOUNT TO THE LEGAL DEPT. TOLD HIM DO THAT AND TO NOT CALL ME AGAIN.

When you answer and say hello to a robo-dialer, thats what tells the robot that it is a working number, and that it has a live sucker on the line, and your number is then moved to the"sucker"list, once your number is on that list, it stays on FOREVER! Welcome to our little club.Your number will be sold/traded/shared with every other scammer here in the USA and around the world. You can complain/biXch/and moan all you want to the FBI,CIA,NSA,FCC,FTC,OPRAH, and even Hawaii 5-0, but your number will always and forever be on that"sucker list".When they call, consider it a challenge or a sport, mess with them with the goal of wasting as much of their "valuable"time as possible, press 1 to speak to a"representative",then feed them as much B-S as possible, give them goofy/FAKE names, addresses, credit card numbers, toll free customer contact numbers on the back of the card,etc.etc.Since I retired, one of my personal favorites,is,when they ask for the toll free number on the back of the card, I give them a VERY kinky toll free sex-chat number,(google for a list of these),then just wait for them to come back on the line.Hilarity ensues, but be prepared for their true evil personalities to emerge, hold the receiver a couple of inches from your ear in case they have an air-horn/whistle.I've been messing with them for about 5 years now and actually look forward to their calls,I usually average about 15-30 minutes per scammer, here's my routine,I pretend to be senile and/or hearing impaired, and make them repeat things 3 or 4 times, but remember, they are trained professional grifters, their ultimate goal is to get your checking acct./credit card/debit card info so they can transfer your money to them.My husband tells me I need a hobby,I tell him I already have one. It's called scamming the scammers.Stay safe out there fellow club members.

This number just called my husband. Now, he is on heavy medication so he handed it to me (he said the man was rude to him). I asked what this was about. I was told my hubby had signed up for the  much noted 5 years at $50 and that he didn't cancel but they would drop us down to the bare minimum rate. I told him that my husband is on heavy medication and probably did not understand what he was getting into. The man, who never identified himself, told me he had ordered it 6 months to 2 years ago. When I questioned that, he hung up on me.

Just the same type of callers, day after day, and all to do with a Google listing, we do not have at all. So again they will be reported as an abusive robot caller, that is a telemarketer with a desire to pay the DNCL here in Canada, a small fortune each time they abuse the phone calling system up here too.

There is no magazine order. These are calls made by criminals in order to steal money from you. A credit card number is good for them as they can then use it to steal your money.
Rest assured that no legitimate company is going to spoof their caller ID with an AT&T directory assistance number. These criminals are phishing for whatever they can get from you - name, address, email, credit card, etc. Any of these pieces of personal data can be used against you, so don't give them anything, and if you see a 1-800 number calling you, don't answer it.

800-555-1212 is a ATT directory assistance #.  If it calls you, it is a telemarketing scam.  Currently, a call center in the Phillipines working for American Capital Advance (their phone number is 800-599-9158).  Be sure not to give them your address.  They already know your name and phone number.  When they go to confirm your address, give them a fake one totally different from your own.
American Capital Advance, LLC provides business cash advance services. The company is based in Boca Raton, Florida. American Capital Advance, LLC operates as a subsidiary of American Bancard, LLC.
