OP-OBSERVATION: if it is free for private parties/for-profit businesses to repeatedly call [harass] private citizens, then it should also be free for private citizens to block any phone numbers/for-profit businesses from calling their privately held & paid-for telephone number.

  There?s obviously quite a disconnect on this matter.
 
  If anyone agrees, please pass on the idea to our politicians/policy-makers. (re: landlines, there's quite an assortment of apps & free services for this purpose on smart phones, mobile telecom carriers, internet phones, etc?)  Or, maybe the telecom businesses would much rather all paying landline holders switch to another form of telecommunication altogether?

  Not all the recipients of "debt collector" repeat [harassing] calls actually owe anything to the debt collection company...which, as it seems to be reiterated by the vast amount of posts regarding the vast amount of ?debt collector? generated phone numbers/calls, most of the "debt collection" phone handlers cannot comprehend such a fact.

  And by conducting "business" by changing phone numbers, blocking caller ID & such - all while continually and repeatedly calling - is pretty much a definition of harassment?not to mention the threats & lies that many encounter.

I have been receiving calls from these people every day for the last three weeks. Simcom comes up on the caller I.D. Ref to collect a debt. That was from the first and only message left me. Looking for my fiances daughter ref a car that was repoed nearly six years ago. I co-signed and was working out of state when she was repoed after losing her job. American Honda then started demading 4K from me a week later. I said fine, give me the car and you get the 4K. No one called me to arrange takeover of payments they just repoed the car and demaned 4K from me. My bottom line, you want 4K, give up the car. Evidently, they sold it immediately after repoing it.

This is a complete scam to see how many suckers will pay. Anyone can get your credit report it has tons of info on it, old addressess and numbers. Don't be a fool, they make ridiculous threats based on your credit report and try to get you to pay. You should recognize how ghetto they are! Probably working on Obama phones!!!! lol

They have called me every day since I turned 18, 4 months ago. If I answer it just rings and rings with no answer. After reading all the posts here I am way more confused then ever being that I do not own a car nor a mobile home. I don't even have any student loans! Why they are calling me I will never know, I am just going to ignore the number and let the phone ring.

Take There Number And Place Ads In Your Local Paper Giving Away A Cute Puppy Etc.... They Will Get Thousands Of Calls. Take A Black Piece Of Paper And Fax It To Them 20 Times. They Can Bother Us. We Can Get Even :)

Wouldn't give any info why calling. Said they'd call my husband at work and rudely hung up. Had to speak to him immediately so she could make a decision. She also gave her name as Mrs. Taylor.

I received my pay off letter. I guess the company is legit!!!!

I owed money on my car, I received a call from Syncom Representative Mr. Davis ext 187 , stated the company is a collection agency to collect for the payment on my car. He offered me a settlement amount which I paid. I never received any form of receipt that said I was paid in full. I then received a call from another collection agency that states the account was transferred to their company and it shows I did not pay anything to Syncom, which I paid $2,000. I called Syncom three times and was told I would get the paid in full letter via email and mail and as of yet I have not received the letter. I think I have been scammed out of $2,000 from this company. If I get the letter I will write a post here.

Keeps calling my sons minor. Left them a message to please stop calling my minor sonor I would report them to the proper authorities. I told them to unassociated this number from the previous owner.

I HAVE BEEN GETTING CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST MONTH. THEY NEVER LEAVE A MESSAGE. I KNOW I DON'T OWE ANY BILL COLLECTOR AS WELL AS ALL MY BILLS ARE CURRENT. I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST SO I AM NOT SURE WHY I KEEP GETTING THESE PHONE CALLS

Been receiving calls from that number early morning and at least twice after that daily. There is never anyone on the phone when I finally do answer. I called back and it referred me to ext 139. I left a msg letting them know of these calls and requested they identify themselves next time they call. Waiting to see if I get a call back. I am so tired of this

Constant calls.even as late as 6:40p, pacific time--during weekdays.  Put them out of business N-O-W!!!!!!!!

Repeatedly calling and will not verify why they are calling or collecting for what? Non-stop and they have my information,  address, S.S. and still won't tell me what they are collecting for. Stop them from calling..if they have my address, they can mail me.

I used answer their calls because they usually call in the afternoon when I'm not busy, I get 10 seconds of static, then some elevator music, then the message "Please stay on the line" in a really up-beat but pre-recorded voice, then it repeats, I once decided I was gonna find out what the deal was so I stayed on the line for over 15 minutes, still the same so I hung up. I called ATT, and they advised me not to answer calls from that number or any private number, if I hear something like that, it is likely they are trying to track my phone's location. YIKES! Well since that 15 minute call, I hadn't had any calls from them in weeks, but today I mistakenly answered the call on my lunch break.  This time, for the first time ever, a HUMAN was on the line and this black woman told me in a frustrated voice that she was with a debt collection agency and asked to speak to a James Janus, I told her it was the wrong number and then she flipped. She said that they knew this was his number and if they find out I'm him or am helping hide him I would be held accountable for his actions in civil and criminal court. I tried to explain that I don't know any James Janus and that this is a cell-phone number and they change hands all the time (I just got it a year ago). She wouldn't have it, she just kept going on about how I'm either a fraud or helping a fraud escape penalties. After about 5 minutes of listening to her over-aggressive speech I wished her a good day and hung up. The same number immediately called back but I did not answer.

They haven't called back yet and I hope it stays that way. Either way, I plan on filing a police report this afternoon and having a recording device with me to answer any future calls should the need for evidence arise in the future. This is harassment.

Received a call from a person yesterday 4-12-12, when asked who they were they told him a name but it was not understood what they had said, when they were asked who they worked for they would not disclose that information, but advised who answered the phone my place of work. The person that answered the phone told them that they did not know me as I do not give this house number out that belonged to someone for over 40 years.

They called again today 4-13-12 at 8:49 am and left a message for me to return their call at 1-800-560-8615 EX:121 and that the name was Daphne Toltvan(sp?).

From reading these posts, I know know who they are from and they have been advised in writing not to contact me by phone.

This number calls periodically but never leaves a message.  Comes as Syncom on ID.  I have been the vicitm of ID theft as well as bank fruad.  We had someone(s) who took out payday loans in  our names (got ahold of an online loan application).  Took the money out of our bank the next day, (we never noticed) and then when the charges came through to pay back, caused all kinds of trouble.  Our banks were good, but some of the PAYDAY loan places were not.  We refuse to pay these loans as we never received the money...but we have recieved threatening calls pretending to be collection agnecies from these loan places.  They tell us we will be arrested.  Dead give away they are not real.  Cannot be jailed for a debt.  We ignore these calls now.   I have been fighting cancer for the past 6 years and do have medical bills.  We know what we owe and what we have missed, a legitimate agency will be polite and work with you as long as you are polite and work with them.  If you answer these calls they will continue to call you.  Eventually, if you ignore them, they will stop!!

Got calls from this number also! I don't ever answer calls from names or numbers I don't know! I would not give them my time or energy talking to them! They are not worst it! just a dumb job! sorry to say!

I actually have an attorney to deal with them because of their excessive calling me and my friends. They are ruthless and if they r told to stop calling it only fuels them.

They called to many times to count. They can call all they want, my phone filter is set to stop the calls. Guess they just dont get the hint.
