Debt Collector
I have been harassing phone calls from this same office. I just started a new job last Monday and the only ppl that new i worked there were my parents/siblings..my name nor my social was even in the system at this new job!! I have paid several hundreds of dollars to this company already and their saying i still owe 239.00..this matter has nothing to do with At&t,its about a credit card!! This company went to the extreme of calling /mailing things to my PARENTS landlords, when i contacted them...Greg Barrow, told me where i lived at prior to the call and also where i was living at when i contacted him...he also told me who i lived with by his FIRST and LAST name, how old he was and where my boyfriend was employeed!!! I find this very disturbing, almost like I'm being stalked!!! I STILL CAN NOT FIGURE OUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME...HOW DID THIS PERSON NO WHERE I WORK AND I HAD ONLY BEEN THERE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS...I HAVE NOT RECIEVED A CHECK YET AND MY INFO FOR EMPLOYMENT WAS JUST ENTERED INTO THE SYSTEM ON SAT..IT MAYBE A LEGIT COMPANY,BUT AFTER READING THIS...I'M SURE GOING TO CALL THE NUMBER TO THE BAR ASSOCIATION...I JUST NEED TO MAKE SURE I'M NOT BEING SCAMMED!!!

This company called one day out of the blue attempting to collect over $500 from me for a debt that had never been accrued. They claimed to be working on behalf of ATT, but ATT was not aware of the debt being owed. The balance was paid in full at the time that the account was closed. The woman who called herself Ms. Wilson was incredible hateful and repeatedly hung up on me when I asked for validation of the debt.

I used to.  Mr. Barro was a state senator in La. He has been an attorney for many years and is a legitimate collections office. Again if you don't want to be called, don't let your issue or bill get to the office. Why don't you take the time to read about him and think about it.

Gregory J Barro has been in collections for over 15 yrs. He is a legitimate collection office for AT&T and other collections. If you don't want to get a collection call... pay your bill. If you get a bill from AT&T and don't think it is right, call them, figure it out. Don't wait till it's in collection to say you don't owe it. There is a limited amount of time to dispute the bill.. 30 days after it has been placed with a collection office. READ the letter. KNOW the law. Help yourself. It's not the collection office's job to verify that you owe it. People who don't owe are on top of their accounts, If I don't owe I am on the phone until it is resolved. If you can't get a resolution from AT&T then call the FTC or the FCC or your local Public Service Commission and file a complaint. There are many options to get things resolved. Good Luck and God Bless!

Maybe you should not ASSume that this is the fault of the person being called. These people clearly are reaching for anything to get the money. Not all colletion companies are legit. This one is not! I dont care whos name is on it. Maybe this will happen to you, then maybe you will get a brain.

You receive a final bill. You are responsible to verify the debt, not the third party collector. We can validate the amount due per our client. It is not our responsibility to provide you with an itemized bill. They sent it, if you ignore it, this is where it goes.

Maybe you should check with the bar association. Also maybe you should also check to see that Mr. Gregory Barro was a State Senator for the state of Louisiana. And maybe all of you should learn some telephone etiquette and pay the bill before it gets to a collection office. Maybe you just need to complain about something. And maybe most of us have a college education. Think about that!

Multiple directory searches for this firm will yield many different websites listed as the contact yet NONE of thes websites is even remotley affiliated with this person, nor are they aware he is using their listings! Nothing more than pond scum trying to recover a debt of someone who I dont know.

The exact same thing happened to me. Someone calling herself Nancy Drew threatened me with legal action, but could not/ would not validate the debt from AT&T. Said she could not validate it. She hung up on me when I asked for validation and a letter. She told me they can only send one letter out. So, she couldn't send another letter. When I asked for contact information for a cease and desist, she hung up on me.

They called me about an ATT bill that was unpaid and were extremely rude when I asked for information on who they were, stating "If you want to know about us look us up on the internet", then threatening to put this on my credit. I called back and got some woman secretary who asked me " Are you gonna pay this bill or not". I will be reporting this to the BBB.

Stupidest collections ever...A "Ms.Bates" called stating I owed AT&T, and she wanted me to pay my bill now with a debit/credit card but there would be a $5.00 charge to use the debit. Now let's think, if I had a "past due" bill-due not non payment-why would I incur debt $5.00 to pay a past due...
Some people just don't use their material(brain)in their head to think, all they do is try to SCAM money out of people...Let's stop this evil practice and make yourself useful...go to school...

I really wanted to think this was a scam.  They were billing my son for AT&T charges, but I knew he had a Verizon wireless phone.  I first checked with AT&T Wireless, but they had no record of any account listed to my son.  Then I called the AT&T Customer Care number on my home phone bill.  They confirmed that my son had, in fact, ordered internet service.  They confirmed the amount of the bill.  They told me the service location which matched where he was living.  They even told me that they had turned the account over to Gregory J. Barro, Attorney at Law and gave me a phone number for his office.  It matched the number on his letterhead, (800) 582-0965.  At least in my son's case, this was legitimate.  Sorry.
