It's valid.  I spoke with Tony, a representative from the AAA renewals department who gave me this number to call back.  He understood that I didn?t want to give my credit card number over the phone without any verification.  He knew my AAA membership number and the date when I signed up.  I called the AAA number for membership on the back of my AAA card and asked the representative if she could verify the number.  She did, and I called the other number back and renewed my membership.

received a call from a woman named Nancy of AAA who had my information wanting to renew with a deal (1 year from this day + 1 month free for 71 something or so). I did not want to give me CC over the phone so she gave me this number (1-800-583-2545) as well as her "Employee ID" so I could call back and verify I was talking to AAA.

Decided to be completely sure and called AAA customer Service (800-922-8228) directly, got to a member representative and requested they verify the number is valid and that associate confirmed it is a valid number to renew your services after putting me on hold for about a minute - so yes, it's valid.

I would still hang up and call back before giving you CC# since this is a telemarketing service doing work for AAA.

Received the same call a few nights ago from a person by the name of Karen.  She seemed very nice but I was a little worried about giving my credit card number to someone over the phone so I did a little checking with my local office in Tidewater and it is all legit.  I called back the number she gave me and renewed my membership with her and the transaction went very smooth.

Got a call from this number and said they were AAA. I called and verified the number they gave me and my local office. They are legit. I had no problems after renewing and it was quick. It saved me time.

I got a call from this number -- my AAA membership did expire, so it seemed legit. I also refused to give my credit card to her because she called me. She left the # and her name and extension. What troubles me is that the "AAA" call is from another state from where my membership is. I looked at my overdue bill and there is no $10 "reinstatement" fee. I'm going to report this to AAA when I renew on the official website today.

I received the following AAA response when I emailed my local AAA office:

I was just writing to you to let you know that the phone call you received was not a scam it is a legit company that calls our member to see if they would like to rejoin if you would like you can call me and I can do the same offer over the phone of you.  Have a great day.  Michele

I just received the same call from a a David Thomas at extension 105 phone number 800-583-2545 saying he was from AAA and would waive my renewal fee and give me a month free if I gave my Credit Card and paid over the phone.  Told him I did not want to give credit card info to someone calling "me". Still not sure if legit.

I got the same call yesterday. Said she was from AAA and wanted me to renew my membership and would waive re-enrollment fee. When I returned the call, it was answered as AAA, but still not sure if it's legit. I might just mail my renewal instead of giving CC# over the phone.

The person calling me said she was from AAA and asked me if I want to renew my club membership. She said it would take only one minute to renew if I give my credit card number. Since I was not sure I want to do this right away, she gave me this # so that I could call later.
