If you have an android, download this app blacklist. When they call open the app and add the number to the blacklist. When enough people do that it starts auto blocking that number to everyone with the qpp.

That doesn't really apply to the tons of people (like me) who don't owe debt, and get harassed by auto-dialers who call at odd hours.

Mistakes happen.

started receiving calls from this number on my cell phone. They have yet to leave a message as to who they are and what they want. When I called the number back I received a recording saying the company name is ERC and if I wanted to make a payment, to press... I don't owe anyone any money nor do I ever give out my cell phone number. This number is a scam collection agency number.

This bill collecting company calls repeatedly--with an automateed system.  They have a WRONG NUMBER and are looking for someone I don't know!

I have called the company five times. I spoke to supervisors and asked them to remove my number.  They say okay.  Then, the harassments begins again.

The auto calls are programmed for daily harassment and I see them on my awnersing machine ID and they auto message after message after message.

How can I take action against the company to STOP THE CALLS once and for all?

Recieve a phone call from this number on average two times a day for a couple weeks now, not missing a day.  Each time I have an automated message, "this call is for..." sometimes there is a long pause where a name should be, other times, I have what sounds like they are spelling out what seems to be a very long sentance, followed by "if you are not this person disregard this message".

Harassment notification issued to ERC as of today.  Most of the callers are poor quality bilingual.  It is amazing that any company would hire them for debt collection because they are not able to even use reverse lookup.  They change the name of the person they are supposedly trying to reach and of course we do not know that person.  It seems like an expensive method of developing a phone number list to sell to overseas scam tele companies, but they must be getting some suckers and also extracting a little money from losers like Wells Fargo....and the thieves just keep on rolling onto our computers and phone lines.

either you work for erc, or you have no idea how money works.  look it up!  there is a an arsenal of information on the web about how debt is created from thin air.  these companies aren't entitled to the money - not to mention the fact that most of these accounts were charged off by the original creditor (they've already written the balance off of their taxes), then sold for pennies on the dollar to a collector (paid a second time for the 'debt'), then re-sold again by that collector for a profit without doing a thing.

the system is a scam in place to enslave people - know what you're defending before making comments online for all to see!

It doesn't matter that you're regestered on a DO NOT CALL list, that only applys to telemarketing. IT'S NOT A SALES CALL. You obviously have had NO problem buying things you can't pay for. It's a collections call, keep up on your bills, and the CCD company wouldn't have to sell your debt to a collections agency to get their money back. If you can sign a dotted line, you can pay your s*** back.

After reviewing the complaints posted here, I'm not so sure any kind of communication to this company of any kind that would let them know any information about you is a good idea.  If they are a scam, then all you are doing is telling them your name and they then insert that updated piece of data into their data base.  If they are indeed a collections agency based in Florida, then they are going to have a hell of a time collecting anything from me since the contracts I sign are signed in the state of Washington and I live here and the business that I bought something from is based here, and I never got what I paid for so I had the charges reversed on my credit card.  Tell them nothing, there is not a damn thing a collection agent can do.  In some states it is actually illegal for third parties to sue you to collect on a debt that the second party had, reason, you deny you owe the money and the third party can't say jack... only the second party can dispute or refute what you say.  Thus third party collection agencies are useless.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.  File against the FCC for interstate harrassment communications.  I think that's a federal offence  LOL.

It's been about 2 week, every morning at around 8:10 am I got a call with the message: "Please hold for a message from ERC." At first I wanted to know who it is from and hold it for a while, then it automatically turn off by itself. After a few times like that, one morning I got a real person. The lady asked me if I live at such address. After I told her that's not my address and ask what the purpose of the call, she said it was for an important business. Then she ask for my birth date. After I refuse to tell her, she went to my last 4 digit of my SSN. After this I knew it was totally a 'straight to the face' ID THEFT. I told her that I would never give out my info and hung up. But again and again, very promptly at 8:10 am everyday, I still receive the call. I just want to get to a real person this time to request to take my name off the calling list, even though I a, too, had register with the Do Not Call Registry. Other than one more time that I got another actual person, long enough or me to hear her: "Hello? Hello?" then she hung up, I never got a chance for my request. I work late at night and sometimes I just got about 3 hours of sleep and they disturb me with the call that make me stay awake thereafter due to the annoyance.
Anyone know how to get rid of these calls? Pleeeaaasseee help!!! You can tell how frustrated I am. :-(

I returned a call to 866-454-6488 and got a person the first try.  I also went to the Florida Attorney General's website and filed an official complaint of harassment.  Don't mess with the BBB..they have no "teeth", but the Attorney General does.  AG's can fine or even close down a business.  Here is how you get to the AG's office website: http://myfloridalegal.com/ Click on "Consumer Protection", then
"How to File a complaint or check on a business", then "Consumer Complaint Form", then "Online Complaint form".  You need to go to ERC's website and get their address etc first: https://www.erccollections.com/co_info.htm  and file your complaints.  If the AG gets enough flack..he will pay attention!

I, too, have had calls from this scumbag outfit.  I wouldn't mess with the BBB...go to the Florida Attorney General's website and file a complaint.  I just did it and if they get enough of them, it is THEIR job to police that company and clean out from their own doorstep.  Go to www.myfloridalegal.com then "Consumer Protection", next page click "How to File A Complaint or Check on a Business", next page, "Consumer complaint form", next page "Online Complaint Form".  They don't make it easy, but if they catch enough flack, they'll probably do something.  It is the Attorney General's JOB to handle consumer protection.  By the way, when I called 866-454-6488, I got a real human, so give it a try...maybe we can harass them for a change.

Once again my cell phone is receiving calls from automated systems requesting a call back to receive a message - DON'T DO IT!!!!

Although my last experience with a collection agency was taken care of through the better business bureau, it was still a pain in the neck.  If you have no troubles with debt, then you should ignore these messages and just keep track of your credit report to make sure all is really well.

These agencies have idiots working for them so they do only what they are scripted to say.  Otherwise, they either hang-up on you when you want to speak with a supervisor or they forward you to another automated voice system...

Just avoid calling back and giving address and name to "learn more about the so called message you have with them."

lesson learned!

Our family actually has not received phone calls, rather 3 out of 4 of us just received 5 separate letters stating they were attempting to collect a debt from a medical center that none of has ever been to or received care from.  Letters also have correct SSN's as the account numbers.
