My guess is
A: the DMV
B: the dealer
C: the bank

Something MUST be done however, because they get your FULL NAME, address, phone number, type/year of vehicle. HOW!??????????
We just bought an 2006 class C motor home with a ford chassis.. took less then 2 weeks for us to start getting this garbage!

I am an attorney that is researching issues related to companies sending extended auto warranties/vehicle service contract solicitation letters. If you have received such a letter, which included information about a vehicle that you own, or have owned in the past few years, that includes the actual make.model and year of your vehicle, please send me a copy of the letter. I am gathering info at this time for research only to outline all the companies doing this, and the states in which they have sent letters. I am investigating the source of the data that is used to make up the mailer. Please email any additional documents received, notes about any telephone call, and contact me. All information and discussions shall remain confidential. I have been posting this info for general info and as an Attorney advertisement.
In order for you to understand my interest/work, and to provide material for you to understand issues involved in these matters, I have included materials for your review below. I note though that most data obtained to use for the mailers by these companies are obtained from legal sources.

Are these letters from Houston, tx? I got a letter with pretty much the same number, with the last 4 digits being different, -1880. Beware of that number. Another "great human being" trying to take advantage of people.

These predators kept sending me the junk, even after I move to Dallas area, this one is from "Advanced Auto Protection Center", their contact info: (636) 279-1354339 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, Saint Peters, MO 63376, their other number is 855-7393773, FBI does not care about their fraudulent activity because I just called, someone need to go there and bust their doors and arrest them!

I wrote a message a few minutes ago about this, but I see there's already a forum going. I received a letter from "Motor Vehicle Services" today (thanks for the useful name, guys), and they actually got my vehicle make, model, and year right. The phone number was 844-831-0009 and the letter offers extended warranties, and told me I have until April 1st to call (gee, what a coincidence). I googled the number and found nothing substantial, so there is no question that this is a scam. The only reason I would call these people would be to find out where they got my information, and then tell them not send me any more letters and to never contact me in any way again.

Just throw it in the trash. This is just another scam. People do not need to respond to these morons just because they sent some junk mail or called them with some scam. Ignore them.

I'd think that it's a very bad idea to give your credit card info over the phone to some company who refuses to MAIL you exactly what coverage you get. Below is just one of many articles about the extended auto warranty scam:

My husband got a letter with the administrator as united car care, inc. and he called and got the warranty on his truck at 395 down and 213 a month. I told him to call the bbb or someone he didn't. They did cover work that was done at the dealers who accepted the warranty with no problem. At this point I don't know what to think. Do we cancelled.

Important...Vehicle Information Enclosed.. Please call immediately for options. 1-800-420-8055
Mail, permit #5283, St. Louis, MO
At the bottom of the card, In fine print...............
Vehicle Protection Center is an independent nationwide company marketing vehicle service
contracts on behalf of leading third party administrators. Programs available may vary depending on
vehicle use, mileage, state and preexisting conditions. Vehicle Protection Center is not affiliated with any auto dealer or manufacturer.
my P.S. The price for their "service" is not mentioned, or the exact name(s) of the "leading third party administrators". Wonder if any of them have had to do community service.

Same scam now using 800-435-1130. They have an F rating with the BBB and 296 complaints in the last three years. Threw their junk postcard in the shredder. Do not do business with this scam outfit.

Same letter, new phone number 1-800-420-8055, St Louis MO Postal Permit 5283, addressed to a person that has been deceased for more than 3 years. Rude, Crude, Socially Unacceptable.
| Mr. VW 2013-09-04 22:42:09 Unknown |
I don't think the DMV did this, my warranty, based on time, wouldn't be over for quite a while, but this followed the last 'free' vehicle service, so this letter was generated by the dealer or VW...
Greetings from September!

The BBB has rated Vehicle Protection Center with an F. They have been under different names, but their address always let's you know it's them.

This is definitely a scam. I just had a very long conversation with "Brandon Smith" and "Jarod" who would not let me get off the phone until I gave a credit card number for a downpayment. When the call started the downpayment was at $595 and by the end with the discounts and "friends and family" deal I was down to a $199 down payment. Also, they claim the warranty is for four years and if you sell the car before the 4 years is up you get a refund. They will not offer 1 year or 2 year warranties. The whole things sounded suspicious but upon questioning it got more and more suspicious. Then, when Brandon would not let me get off the phone to discuss the options with my husband I knew I had to just hang up.
