I did not get a phone call, but I foolishly called the local number that was listed in the Denver Post rental listings. I paid the fee and never recieved a fax as promised, so I had the listings emailed to me. Almost every listing I called was rented, or had never heard of this company. I requested a refund of my money in Feb. and was told that it would be sent in 5 weeks. I just called to check on the status of my refund and was told that it would not be sent until May!!!! I hope anyone who plans on doing business with this company does more research than I did.

I to went thru tenant marketplace to get help with finding housing. And they took my money and never gave me any information when I requested a refund they never wanted to let me talk to anyone. Then someone sent me an email stating i couldn't get my money back. But not once did they say where they are located or the real reason I couldn't get my 149 dollars back. can some tell me what i need to do.

Attorney General Hardy Myers Announces Agreement With Florida Rental Locator To Go Out Of Business In Oregon, Give Refunds To All Customers

Attorney General Hardy Myers today announced the filing of a settlement agreement with a Florida-based rental locator service ending its operation in Oregon for allegedly charging consumers for rental information when the housing was either non-existent or no longer available. Named in an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance (AVC) filed in Marion County Circuit Court are Tenant Marketplace, Inc., a Florida corporation, and its officer/director Laurie Gallagher of Maderia Beach, Florida. The AVC admits no law violation.

"Most out-of-state companies know Oregon's fair practice laws and abide by them," Myers explained. "Tenant Marketplace knew its product was mostly non-existent and stale at best but took money for it anyway. There is no room for fraudulent retailers such as these in Oregon's marketplace."

Department of Justice (DOJ) investigators received multiple complaints from both consumers and landlords. Consumers paid the company $149 to locate rental property only to receive out-of-date information. Consumers also found the lists were available free on Craig's List or in The Oregonian newspaper. Landlords discovered their occupied properties appeared on the company's lists as available for rent. Most of the landlords had not given the company permission to list their rentals and most had never heard of the company in the first place.

Under the settlement, the company will provide full refunds within the next 180 days to all Oregon consumers who purchased its rental locator services. The company agreed to pay $10,000 to the DOJ Consumer Protection and Education Fund--$1,000 immediately upon execution of the AVC with $9,000 being suspended as long as the company continues to comply with the agreement.

The company also is permanently prohibited from operating or controlling any rental locator service within Oregon or providing rental locator services in any way to Oregonians.

The person emailed me this morning stating that Tenant Marketplace was out of business & I would "NEVER" get a refund.  I did report them to BBB, FTC, & I did a Ripoff report so that no one else gets scammed.  I am a hard working mother, & I'm a Christian, & I let them know they messed with the wrong one because they will pay.  Their response was "ok dummy."  The name on this business is Laurie Gallagher, & I have received other emails from this person some months ago.  I never responded to them, but this is a very busy person.  I received a phone # from the FTC to report it locally.  It is 602-542-5763.

I didn't receive a phone call from this number but a local number was provided when I was looking for a house to rent on azcentral.com.  I called the number & was given the information regarding Tenant Marketplace.  I gave them my info & was charged the $149.  I had to call them back to get a list sent to me, but when they sent the list it wasn't what I asked for & it wasn't what I was told.  I had so many problems accessing the website.  I asked for a refund from the beginning because 2 months had gone by before I could go on the website & look @ the properties they had.  I spoke with someone named Bill who told me the website wasn't working in AZ.  I wish I would have read this before I gave them my info, but I thought it was legit because it was listed with the properties on azcentral.com, which is the AZ Republic online, in the rental property section.  After the 90 days were up I asked for my refund because I did not receive the service they said I would.  I sent them an email & asked if they got my request & they  said they responded to me 3 times denying my request.  I told them it was unfair because they did not allow me the opportunity to access the website for 2 months.  I filed an online complaint with the BBB in Fl.

the same exact thing happen to me i paid $149.00 for rental assistance where is no credit reports done and if i didn't move in a 129 days i could get my refund of 149.00 but the web site was closed down the latnerze.org i have not here or got my refund yet

Tenant marketplace is a scam. I seen the number in baltimores local penny saver. So I called the number and talked 2 a man named kevin he told me he had several listings of rental properties in the arbutus, maryland area for the price range of $650.00 dollars a month. I would have 2 pay them $149.00 dollars first so I did and about a hour later they sent me a email with a website on it www.tenantmarketplace.org so I looked on there and they didn't have on house in that area not even one. So I jus looked through all the houses they had and every single one of them was at least $850.00 a month and up. I have been trying to call them every since and I still haven't got ahold of them its like they put a flag on every number I called them from because when I call from 3 different numbers a recording comes on and says the person that u are trying 2 get ahold of is on the phone then just hangs up. So I called my bank and they are trying 2 dispute it. They are a complete scam so anytime you come across a number that says they can get u a house in ur price range and in ur area it is probably another tenant marketplace.

I live in northwest indiana and saw one of these ads, called them, figured it was a scam , googled it and ended up here. I emailed some consumer fraud place and the paper I saw it in. For those of you that got scammed I did a Whois look up of their web site and found this good luck.

I too called "Tenant Marketplace" a few months ago at the 8005943476 number and spoke to a woman who called herself "Leah" at ext 410. She gave me the whole speal, $149.00 COMPLETELY refundable "if for any reason you don't move"... NO CREDIT CHECKS...VARIED DEPOSITS...this is DEFINATLY one HUGE scam. She also told me that they had been in business since 1995 and worked in multiple areas in the United States. So i kind of thought if they work in "MULTIPLE AREAS" that maybe this would work for us, being in business that long and all so I told her that I would need to discuss this with my wife at first and then if agreed would call her back and "register as a client" My wife and I were in desperate need to find a home for our 4 children and ourselves, so we decided to do this, hey completely refundable right?! NO not at all, after about a 1 1/2 months with no NEW INFORMATION FROM THEM, i found a home on my own. So i called "Tenant Marketplace" and asked for my refund. They had told me to email my written reguest to: rent@tenantmarketplace.org to include my name and reason...blah blah blah. So I emailed and explained to them I did not move with them, I had found one on my own, so I wanted my money back. They emailed me back telling me that i had moved and it was not refundable because i had moved. Well then i realized that i had been scammed. it says in the disclaimer they QUICKLY go over with you "...If you obtain property through 'Tenant Marketplace' OR YOUR OWN MEANS, the fee is not refunable..." I will never again give my information out to a " satelitte company" Here is a little bit of information for all who are smarter than i was at the time!!!

On April 23,2008 I called this company (tenantmarketplace)I then got a call from someone who called herself Rene@ ext 33. She infromed me I wwould be getting a call from custome service. I recieved a call from some one name barbara. I  also did'nt do a backgraound search for them. And it's now June and i still have not found any housing and the listings they have on theie site are the same listings as when i signed up.
