Same thing here. They r charging $14.99 connection fee then $5 a minute and the minimum call charged is five minutes even if you talk for 30 seconds that was in our case. $42 for a 30 second call, what a scumbags!!!

They charged me $30 for a 1 minute call from from an airport phone Germany to Austria. So I just called them to complain. As a 1st time customer, they gave me a $12 credit. Better than nothing but the remaining $18 is still insultingly high.

Went to Costa Rica. Gave the Tamarindo Diria my credit card to hold for charges I might make against the room number. I never had any charges and took back the swiped credit card bill and ripped it up and put it in two different garbage cans. Even though I never used the credit card in Costa Rica at all, I had three charges, referencing this number, to the card. The last was for a time I was never in Costa Rica. The amounts, suspiciously close to one another were, 41.91, 41.94, and 41.89. Something is rotten with this number and some employees at the hotel.

We were in the Dominican Republic and got stuck at the airport and had to make a phone call from a "pay phone."  We used our debit card for the 3 minute phone call and got charged $41.91.  What is worse is that 7 days after that charge posted on my account, someone in Lutz, FL used my number 8 times in one day at 3 different gas stations to charge $700.

I just got back from the Dominican Republic and checked my credit card bill to find $41.91 charged (from 8006060486) for a literally 30 second call to the US to wish my Dad a happy birthday. Are any of you having luck taking this up with your credit card companies?

I was in Costa Rica and called the mother in law for >15 min and got charged $145.00. Hotel told me it would cost about $15 so that was cool. I know international calls are expensive but my little bro-in-law needed more $ to get home so we payed $145.00 on a phone call asking for $300 from mom for Jake's stuff he needed to get home! Plus they didn't debit my acct. for days and when it did it said something about a mail order charge? RIDICULOUS!

On the way home from our honeymoon our flight was delayed and we were put up for one night in Amsterdam...had to call our family and employers back in the US to let them know of our delay.  At the hotel the airline put us up at on the phone it said in order to use calling cards you had to dial 2525...thru there we had to put in our credit card (we used our discover card) in order to use the calling card to make the call.  We thought we were being charged only on our calling card but just this past week we saw three charges on our discover card for 39.91 and one for 44.90.  Never once during the call did it say what we would be charged.  I contacted discover card who said they couldn't do anything...noticed an 800 number on the statement (800-608-0102)...my husband just called...the guy originally said he could give us a $60 credit...my husband asked to speak with a manager who said the most she could give is a credit for half...about $82...my husband asked me to talk and get a little irate - that didn't work either (think they are tired of phone calls like this)...We asked for information in regards to what company it was and was told it's "International Satellite Communications"...I did tell the manager we will contact the better business bureau...we'll also be contacting discover card again, the hotel we were put up at and KLM (the airline)...just looked online and have to laugh that the hotel is apparently only 34 Euros a night - less then our phone calls...guess at least we also got dinner & breakfast out of the deal...

I tried several times to make a call that did not get through. For each unsuccessful call, they billed me approx. CDN $35 from the Frankfurt airport.

Same story - a few minutes and hundreds of dollars later - I can't believe that this is acceptable.  How is this possibly legal?  I got about a third of the cost reimbursed to me (or at least they have said they will... we'll see if it shows) and am now on hold to try to contact my credit card company to make an official complaint about this company.
Best of luck to you all - and yah, this really is where the proverb comes in: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me
what they've done is wrong - but never again will I use a credit card to make a phone call

This is absolutely ridiculous! I was at an airport in Belgium and I was calling a friend in town to tell him I was there, I left a message and it cost 34.00$. I also called Belgium from Germany twice, and the call got cut off both times after five minutes, and it cost me 70.00$ & 90.00$ each. I called the 800# and the guy said that those were the standard rates and they couldn't do anything about it..

I honestly wonder if all these people do is listen to people like us trying to get our money back as they snicker to their friends about it.

I don't even remember making a call from a pay phone but If i did it would have been about 2-3 minutes long to my parents and made from the Prague Castle in Prague, Czech Republic... They charged me 51.89 USD for that short call.

IM calling the BBB and contacting the company directly.

Same story here - 1-2 minute call Ireland to US in March, $18.00 and 5-7 minute call Ireland to US - $55.00.  I highly recommend everyone contact the better business bureau and file a complaint under "International Satellite Communication" Woodland Hills, CA.  They have an "F" rating.  Unfortunate us poor souls don't have that kind of information to begin with.  Trying to dispute with credit card, but thusfar no luck.

Glad to see you got some of it back, I just got shafted the same way, while trying to make a call home to leave out Hotel phone # we tried 5 times and were disconnected on four of them. The fifth call made it through and we left a 30 second message on an answering machine. Each call cost us an average of $24.oo. Even the disconnected calls that didn't even make through!

I called from Munich airport to Russia for 1 or 2 minutes. I thought it costs 10-15$ maximum... I was charged on 58 DOLLARS. Oh, my god! The lesson: never use your credit card in airports. I called them and operator gave me 28$ back. FRAUD. Now I am thinking how can I return the rest of the money.

This is an incredible non-sense. This company is just a gang of criminals.

Hi,

Same problem here: 3-minute call from London airport to France that costs 57.68 dollars. Credit card company does not want to cancel the transaction, which makes sense.

Only solution is to tell your friends not to do the same!

I was just in Mexico and placed a call via the hotel telephone - the sticker on the phone said to call 800-606-0486.  My cell didn't work there and I needed to make a quick call that lasted ~90seconds. I just checked my bank account when I got home and was charged $42.74!

I cannot believe all of these complaints! Last week I was in Jamaica and tried to call home to the US and every call got transfered to an operator and they confirmed my account numbers and then told me that my cards were declined. I knew something funny was up because there is no reason for both accounts to be declined especially since I had used them successfully in Jamaica and the limits were high. So, I get home and on my account is $277.41 worth of charges on 1 account. On the other account there is $30.00 worth of charges but the credit card company closed my account as soon as this company tried to charge me. They closed it because they caught on that it was fraud right away. Today I called BBG Communications and International Satellite Communications, which I will add that they both have totally different phone numbers. I happened to reach the same exact person! How is that? The guy told me that he cannot help me unless I send him a fax with the statements listing charges and the account numbers written on it. Why in the world would I send a fax like that?! I did give him the credit card number that was closed by the credit card company and he said that there is no charges or any record of this account. But yet he told me right away that it is a MasterCard without me telling him. Worst of all my bank told me that I may not be able to get any money back because I gave them my account number when I was trying to make a call. I am about to have a heart attack!

I also was scammed with this number.  I was in Italy and just made a quick call home to let my family know I was well until I could be an international calling card the next day.  $47.00 to my credit card.  I did call the company, using the same 800 #, and very politely told them I was unaware of the rate as it was not posted, etc.  The refunded me 19.00. It wasn't much but it was some.  My girlfriend did the same and also got refunded a bit less than half her call.  Good luck.

I made 4 calls from my hotel room phone in the DR to Canada and I was charged $39.80 even though my parents didn't pick up.  One of my calls was about 10 minutes long and cost me $72.08!!!!  I was told by the hotel to use *21 (8006060486) to make calls and that it would cost me $1-2 a minute.  Note: Have friends/family call down to you....send them your number by email and have them use a calling card!!  I going to go to my creditcard company and complain.

I made a call from my hotel room in DR and left a 1 minute voice mail on my parents' answering machine. When I got home, I saw that I was charged $40 for the call!!! I called my credit card company and then only thing they could do was to put a "note" to put under investigation. Let this be a lesson learned! GRRRRRR!!!
