Repeated calling to make me renew the magazine subscription. Go away!
Maddernhell 2014-03-31 16:21:01 Unknown
9:31AM 3-31-14, Caller ID: TOLL FREE CALLER. We do not answer this kind of call. So here I am. It is my firm belief that honest people usually identify themselves properly. Scam operators do not. My wife loves to watch a certain TV show, so we ordered one of their books. We did not get the book we ordered. We complained. My wife liked the book and wouldn't let me return it. We re-ordered the original book. The second book we received as a result of the second order was, again, not the book we ordered. (The book we ordered TWICE was still listed on the little insert they included with our order.) (From the beginning, the company was very aggressive about getting our email address on the initial order, so I gave them one from my array of "throw-away" email addresses.) All this activity resulted in heated exchanges, on-line as well as by phone. I'll leave it to you to guess what all the talk was about. I'll also leave it to you to figure out what I think of this cOMPANY. Thanks to Daleinaz and Higgins. You can bet your sweet bippy that their number is blocked.

B. S.!!!

Thank you for all your recommendations! I followed through.
I called 617 232 1000, the Editorial Office. I was referred to 800 526 8442, Cooks Illustrated's Customer Service System. My name will be removed from their telemarketing and rental lists. It will take 2-4 weeks before phone calls/mailings will stop. Also, the 20th year anniversary hard cover book of All-time Best Recipes, the marketer, Graven, Austen and Drake, was attempting to sell, will be available at stores.

Relentless robo calls....almost every day!!! Why can't this company be stopped?
Bella 2013-04-12 18:11:05 Unknown
They've called three times daily for the past month. I called and told them to remove my number, but they kept calling. I called and told them I would never again renew my subscription after ten years of being a customer, but they still kept calling. I threatened them with a lawyer and they STILL keep calling. I'll never buy anything from them again, and suggest that anyone who gets a Cook's Illustrated subscriptions should be aware that it comes with free harassment for the rest of your life. They're despicable.

Cancelled my online subscription last week and now I am receiving UNWANTED solicitations by phone. They give good cooking information but, definately are ruining their reputation with their telemarketing approach. I resent that they have increased their subscription prices so high and that they inundate you with "garbage emails". Also that they take your personal information and sell it to other telemarketers. Christopher Kimble you should be ashamed. Your greed will ruin your good product/service and that is sad.

Guess it's cook's illustrated as others mentioned. i never answer an 800 number unless I recognize it. I do have a subscription, but I am going to cancel it today.
I just wish there was a way to get of their **** phone list. Never heard of a company that was willing to take you off their telemarketing list.

called, but I picked up phone and hung up. Found out who it is from here. Will cancel my subscription.

Second call in just over an hour! This time I picked up after one ring and actually got a person, then asked to be put on the do not call list. She read from a script confirming it (notably, did not ask why I didn't want to receive the calls) and thanked me. Whether this works remains to be seen.

Caller ID says "unavailable"; if this is Cook's Illustrated/Country, the company has lost my business forever. It is NINE TWENTY-TWO in the morning! People work shifts!

I kept getting calls from this number. I called them back and told them that if they want me to continue to purchase their magazine then to stop calling. If they continue to call I will cancel the magazine.
Hopefully that will bring this to a close. If it doesn't then I will cancel the magazine subscription.

Cook's Illustrated... what a pain.
Kiplin 2012-06-19 00:33:16 Telemarketer
I assume that the information that the info regarding the magazine Cook's Illustrated. If I answer an unknown number, I usually answer (some city) Police Department, City Morgue, or (city) dog pound. If they ask for me (sometimes the ask for me by name), I tell them I'm out for the day; please leave name and number and I will have them return my call. I usually have hangups before I finish.
For real stress relief, I scream!
Try these suggestions for fun.

Thank you for telling me it was Cook's Illustrated! I'll call them back and ask them to remove my number. I REALLY love the magazine and TV show, but...phone calls? Nah - don't want any.

I have stumbled on how to get TM's to stop calling! Since my wife and I rarely receive a legit inbound call on the land line, I answer the phone by saying " Good afternoon, PRL, how may I direct your call". PRL is just three letters of my fake company. The TM's think it's a business and they update their records and don't call anymore!!
It's faster and less of a hassle than asking to be removed from the call list.
Try it! If it works for you send me $9.95. Hurry this offer ends soon, so act now!

They have been calling me, so I decided to answer the phone. As indicated on other posts, this is Cooks Illustrated (we have a subscription) and they wanted to send us an annual cookbook of all recipes published throughout the year. Told them no and they said they would not call again.

These people are relentless!! They call every day, multiple times a day, even at night after 8:30!! I have never picked up the phone. If I don't recognize the number, my thinking is that if it's important they will leave a message. They never do. All this for a cook book!

I get calls from this number at least 3 times a week. I called the number and it said wait while I connect you. Some man answered and kept saying hello. I hung up. Is there a way I can stop getting this call?
mrjack 2012-01-27 16:53:57 Telemarketer
I was able to get the email contact for Cook's Illustrated. I sent them an email demanding that they stop calling and hanging up on me. The next day I received a confirmation email stating that my number has been put on their do not call list. They did say they had no way of stopping calls and emails from the parties to whom they had sold my contact information. In the 3 days since receiving this email, I've had 4 additional calls from this number. I sent them another email and told them I was contacting the government's Do Not Call List Registry and file a formal complaint. I also told them I would report them every time I got a call from them.

Oh, come on. You think you are the only one with that zip code. Get real. If they have your number, they have your zip. Sometimes that is how they file things. Get real.

How long have you worked there? Just because you're comfortable with a business model that results in harassing your current and ex-customers, doesn't mean we are.
You don't want people to be rude to you? STOP CALLING.
bdrlas 2011-12-09 22:19:18 Unknown
If you have dealt with Cooks Illustrated or their company in any way in the past, the No Call list does not apply. You can report them, but those you report them to will laugh in your face. You know, all companies are not scammers. This is a legitimate company with a darn good product for those who love to cook. So, just answer and tell them specifically you don't want to any more calls, but quit being a rude ***** to some who is just trying to make a living just like you. Telemarketing is a hard job and the only one some people (college students, for example) are able to get. So, try a little kindness. It goes a long way in smoothing the rough places in life. Merry Christmas.

If you have dealt with them in the past, the No Call list does not apply. You have to tell them specifically to remove your number, because it is legit for them to call.

Repeated calls from them since dropping my subscription. They do not leave a message.
