I just got caught up in this scam and I'm furious. I was desperate for a job and I've found one because I had applied for work at J.C. Penneys around the time frame. I wanna know also should I report them to the police or would I have to pay for their crime?

I had the exact same thing happen to me.  The best thing to do in this order is:
1.   contact J.C. Penney at 1-800-322-1189.
2.   file a Police report with your local police department (you will need a case number for the next step)
3.   call the FTC  at 1-877-438-4338 or go to their website at www.ftc.gov and click on the link contact us.
There you will have the option of filing a complaint under identity theft.  which will lead you to
another  page when you can state specifically that this is a "Potential Identity Theft?my personal
information has been lost, stole, or disclosed" and continue to fill out the secure form
4.  contact one or all three of the credit bureaus to put on a Fraud Alert on your credit line so that the
scammers don't use the information you gave them on the application, like your social security number
to open a credit card account in your name and then you become a victim twice.  I contacted Experian.
The last page of the FTC form will tell you to do the same thing.
5.  If you gave them your checking account information for direct deposit, make sure to contact your bank
and close out that checking account so it can't be accessed.

I plan on contacting my local Better Business Bureau also, the more noise we make then hopefully this will stop the thieves.  Best of luck to all who have been hurt by these scammers.  Especially for the unemployed who are still looking for real work.

Hey dear people,

What are the first steps to do after you are a new victim of the scam jobs? Should we go to the police or what?
Thanks!

I was tricked by these gansters, their names were probably false Jacobs and Stigleman, they did a good job because all seemed to be so real, but after four weeks their addresses were not available anymore and they never paid me a coin.

All they sent to wrap means nothing for me, because of the time and trust I put on this I am just sad and very upset to realise that some people are born to cause problems and missery to others. These guys shouldn't exist on this planet.

I would never have done that to anybody, not even to someone I don't like or consider an enemy, Why? Because unfortunatelly my mind is not mean enough to create a scam to use others to still their time, good will and trust. This is horrible!!!

Any money they made will become SALT and WATER, and a huge KARMA will make them pay for what they did and are doing every second on earth.

This is my wish this is my trust right now!

Just received an email from a Robert Dewitt offering a full time position. I found this to be a scam immediately for two reasons:

1) What reputable company emails at 9 pm about a potential job
2) I NEVER APPLIED TO JCPENNEY!!!

It's so disgusting that people are trying to profit and take advantage of others trying to find employment! Something has to be done!!

They got me good and I have the paper and tape from wrapping the packages so I have proof that they did send me stuff.  Anyway, its over and I am done with them. JCP should do something about that because they are using their logo to fool people and make them believe that the jobs are from JCPenny.  I also have email from them both if this goes further.

The persons who dealt with me were James Bingham and George Heiser, when I called JCP they knew no one by that name.  I would love for them to send me another few boxes.

Well I got caught with this and packed 17 boxes for them and of course suddenly now no one replies and of course no pay.  I am sorry I did not know that because trust me I would of kept every package that they sent me, or I would have kept the laptops that came my way and let them deal with it.  They will eventually get caught.  Glad for the information

Gift Wrapping Scam...

http://www.katu.com/news/problemsolver/123893024.html

http://www.cleveland.com/consumeraffairs/inde ... ing_job_of.html

Fake J.C. Penney gift-wrapping job offer not just one scam -- it's two: Plain Dealing

It's finally clear how the J.C. Penney gift-wrapping job scam works. It's a combination identity theft and reshipping scam.
The fraud starts with an email that appears to be from Penney's, offering people full- and part-time gift wrapping work at $8 to $10 an hour.
A New York woman who answered the email reports that she received small items ? including cameras -- to gift wrap and then send abroad.
That's a classic red flag for a reshipping scam -- which scammers use to get stolen merchandise sent overseas.
The victim discovered the scam when a retailer called her to check on merchandise she allegedly ordered on her American Express card ? an account she never opened.
She suspects the scammers got her Social Security number off the job application and used it to open the credit line so they could order merchandise without paying for it.
U.S. companies stung by fraudulent orders often refuse to ship merchandise such as small electronics overseas. Foreign scammers skirt the rules by finding people inside the U.S. to accept the shipments and then forward packages abroad. They often lure victims by offering them "quality control" jobs for which they usually are never paid.
The gift-wrapping job offer appears to be a holiday twist on the scheme -- and it gives scammers a way to victimize people twice over.
The fraudulent email says, in part, "If you are looking for that 'perfect fit' career with a company that values your individuality and talents, offers clear career paths and provides opportunities for personal development - you have found it," the email proclaims. The wording is stolen from Penney's real careers page.
The email contains an attached application with the J.C. Penney logo. The sender is identified as "Robert Meisner," allegedly an HR manager.
J.C. Penney has said Meisner isn't an employee -- and its stores don't offer gift wrapping.

These folks are resume skimmers. They search job posting sites, copy the information & then phone you pretending to have a job offer. The idea is to get your ss# for identity theft. If you get a call, check out the company.
