I got an email from Karen Hill and looked up the SCR Staffing scam.  I found this ad on Indeed.com and after I sent my resume, I found out that it was a scam.  At this point, I was not able to retrieve my information.

Does anyone know what these people do with your information besides hound you to death?  The response letter was great and since we are unemployed, we have money to throw at an agency to find us a job.  I'd part with a million since they are paying top $ for an HR job.

I'm happy I found this because I would have set up an appointment.  Only thing holding me back is why email an applicant, you have their phone number, why not call?

Same email received, but mine was from someone named  (Karen Clark <karen.clark@raschr.com) stating she was contacting me on behalf of Amy Kernan from RSC Staffing who is on vacation. The unsubscribe area made me suspicious. Thanks everyone for the heads up.  I never applied to this company.

I found this website in attempting to locate the company's website in prep for the web-based interview invite.  After reading the posts here, I google-mapped the various Los Angeles addresses included on some emails.   They don't exist.   One address on Pacific Lane pulled on a similar address on Pacific "Avenue".   It was a scary looking parking lot behind a night club.   Thanks for the 411 on this.

I have experience in this industry and ANY company who charges you money is either a scam or multi-level marketing where you are encouraged to buil your own team below you.  Another general clue is the conference call thing....cattle call is more like it. Recruiting can be done virtually but staffing as far as I know, is almost always in-house.

At least Mary Kay and Avon are honest about their recruitment and investments required!

A legit firm would offer real support, not a mass conference call,  and would make it clear that they pay commission based on performance usually with no base pay, but never charge you!!!!!!

Same here! I just got an email wanting me to schedule  a web -based interview. Which I found kind of odd but cool at the same time. I see its junk though :/. It's a shame with such a rough time finding a job, and those who respond by email is junk.

I got the same. Thought it was a great opportunity but decided to check the company through google and saw ALL these negative responses.  Thank God or I might have been taken. So sad that you can't even apply for jobs now a days without having to worry about scams. Its in everything.  So glad that there is google and blogs to help.

I was suspicious from the start so I did my research. Thanks to this site for providing information on companies like this that take advantage of people in our situations who are just trying to find an honest job.  Everyone keep your head up, we will find a job soon!  God Bless You!

Ugh! I'm SO glad I found this site. I too was super suspicious following the first email.  My first clue was that google didn't bring up even one result for "RecStaff Consulting" and then when I backtracked to the "Sector Staffing" (which is the original company name on the indeed.com listing) site, it said I needed a username and password to even log in.  My email was the same as the others, but with a different company and contact information:

Pauline Wright
RecStaff Consulting
Phone: 1-(800)633-0522 ext 219
on the web at: RecStaff
515 Flower Street Los Angeles, CA 90071, USA

How ridiculous! I mean, why not prey on people who are already down on thier luck and get thier hopes up for no reason?   Thanks to whoever opened this thread and all those who've helped others to avoid this scam.

Thankfully I researched this myself.  I didn't get a phone call but got two emails from Andrew Berlin on the same day.

In my job hunt I have noticed that when a company contacts you after finding your resume, 99 times out of 100 it's a scam.  NO COMPANY contacts applicants; applicants have to contact them.  I wish it was the other way around but it's not.

So any time a company contacts you in response to your resume, don't get too excited about it.  Most likely they are trying to lure you into a scam either by making you the victim or making other people the victim once you're in.

thank goodness i took my husbands advice by doing a bit of internet research before loging into the "web based interview" there are REAL companies that use the same web based meeting rooms for REAL conversations, meetings and interviews, so i wasn't that concerned.... but when i was getting emails every hour on the hour about a job interview i thought "what employer does all that?" usually its the applicant who puts in ALL the efforts right?? heads up guys!!

warning signs:

emails every hour about "logging on"
phone numbers, addresses and websites indicated are false
a salary is disclosed on the initial email prior to "speaking, or interviewing with a LIVE person"

Seriously.............. who are these people... they won't stop with the whole interview thing.   And it's impossible to find infot on them on line.  I'd be scared to drive all the way to down town L.A. for a "web based" interview.... I wonder if they can be reported to some sort of agency?

Hello

I just received this same message from Karen Hill. I did not log into the web seminar. I have been a staffing recruiter for 6 years.. here is my professional advice.

All recruiters call you from YOUR submission to THEIR ad for a job (98% of the time). The other LUCKY 2% of the job seekers are called without submitting to us FIRST are usually VERY skilled and we are seeking them out because they are a perfect match to our job opening.

So I said that to say this: If you do NOT have the skill set on your resume that the job is requiring (ie you have worked at McDonalds for $7 an hour and now they are offering your an interview for a 75,000 a year sales job)... more than likely it is a scam, marketing scheme etc... it is not a real JOB opportunity but probably and could be a legitimate a business opportunity for an investment fee of some sort. It's a numbers game, the more you talk to in marketing the more you make. So if they can get as many people as possible on the webinar the better the chance of someone signing up or PAYING for the services.

So that is what I wanted to share with you. Since I got the email from the Karen Hill after I posted my resume on careerbuilder.com I thought I would share a little "insider" scoop to you all. I hope it helps you make a smarter job decision when searching for jobs online and being creative.

Now... I will say this...in my recruiting career I have always had a passion to help those who cannot get help anywhere else in a job search... don't ask me why I just do! I do believe it is because of my faith...
But I am a recruiter and I hire TOP phone sales people. I am ALWAYS looking for determined..self motivated and reliable phone experienced sales people and I WILL interview everyone. I believe everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves. Someone gave me a chance and I "pay it forward".

So if you are looking for a real job and can work from home (we have a real job so of course there is not cost) then email me at kmoyerecruiter@gmail.com and I will be happy to talk to you.

Hi,

Had the same email. I sent a reply after doing my research . See the email I sent them back:

Hi Karen,

Thanks for getting back to me. I will schedule the interview. However, I wanted to know the fees involved to get the job. I understand that there would be a refundable amount initially that I have to pay. Please let me know how much that is. Also, can you give me your address so that I could come and visit your office? Let me know to whom I need to make a check. I can send you up to a million dollars as I am currently not working and have a lot of extra cash lying around that I want to get rid of. By paying you I can satisfy my soul and get rid of the extra bucks as well. Thank you for that opportunity.

Regards,

I have tried everything to get them to leave me alone.  The texting and phone calls stopped but the emails haven't.  It's been 3 weeks and I get about 4 per day from "Karen Hill".  Not that this helps, but it makes me feel better.  For each email she sends me, I reply10 times just to flood their inbox.

Juvenile? Yes, but I can't believe they can get away with this harrassment.  They haven't been filed on with the BBB either, just checked.

Look under "Recruiting and Staffing Careers" in Google and see how many website scam articles you get, ridiculous.

Don't forget... if you get one of these letters and know where they may have received your resume or information (i.e. careerbuilder, monster, etc), forward the email to that sites security team. Posting on this forum only makes others aware, but contacting the security team helps make these sites (that we entrust our information with) help to resolve the issue. This is what is listed on Careerbuider:

What do I do if I am the victim of a Phishing Scam?
